I don't give a shit about the fact he's stopped making videos, it's the fact that it makes zero fucking sense that he's "quitting comedy" as a whole. God help us if he ends up like George Takei.

Also, the throat damage is bullshit considering he's still doing the "serious singing" thing which is infinitely more strenuous than doing grumpy voices for funny videos on the internet. Maybe he ate glass or something, who knows.

I think it's just minor throat tissue damage. He probably doesn't want to damage it even further by doing the Filthy Frank (and Pink Guy) voice. And maybe he doesn't enjoy making comedy anymore because of the fact that his entire YouTube channel was based around comedy. Which would explain why he's "quitting comedy".

This is a good reason to prefer independent content creators over soulless corporations running television stations. They can end their projects when they want, without having a CEO yell to their face "no, now go make 20 more seasons" because they're under contract.

Welp, good things don't last. May he forge a good path.

And the throat thing is weird. I'm not too well versed in voice acting/changing but how does a reedy voice like Frank hurts the throat? Heard a couple of VAs that does that and even lower, and their voices are still fine afterwards. He's still singing after that too. That's confusing.

Yeah, that seems like a weird reason to quit.
>smokes cigarettes
>cites throat damage as a reason to stop doing funny voices

Four days before the tweet, Vox came out with a "documentary" about Filthy Frank that almost completely missed the mark of what Frank is about. Any chance that prompted him to make a formal announcement?

RIP Franku. Who knows how many people fell into lolcow watching because of that picture of Chris in the Weeaboo video?

Voice acting like that can actually be hard on your vocal chords. Almost any voice you do that isn't your normal one comes with some strain. Singers usually have to "warm up" their vocal chords like an althlete does their muscles. It's been documented in both cartoons and games over the past two or three decades that some harm can come from the strain of voice acting, usually it's not permanent but it isn't pleasant. And these are professional voice actors who have experience and aren't just doing le shouting man voice.

Smoking just makes it worse

Much as it sucks for Filthy Frank to be retired, it was good while it lasted.

Still considering what I've seen happen with some YouTube channels and others on the internet it's better to end it here than to devolve into unfunny content.
Considering how it is with some people who do a character and they keep going on with it, mediocrity is bound to kick in. Joji could of ended up being like the rest of them.

With good things, either they finish off good or they go on only to end up becoming terrible. And may his health not get screwed over from all the shit he did as Filthy Frank.

Just wait till they see the collar vids he did with idubbz and the others the Koraboos would lose their minds.

Twitter K-Pop stans are just now discovering Joji is Filthy Frank and are trying to cancel him?

Man, talk about being late for the party on this one.

It's not like Joji ever tried to hide he was Filthy Frank and Pink Guy either, and he was pretty clear that it was a character. This is like if someone today tried to launch a cancel campaign against Stephen Colbert and accused him of being a right-wing pundit because they saw an episode of The Colbert Report from 2005.

Tbh, I always thought one of the reasons why Joji retired the Filthy Frank persona back in 2017 was because of bullshit like this. He probably saw just how bad woke culture was going to get in the late 2010's and combined with his throat problems and desire to focus solely on his music, made him decide to call it quits.
