There is also the problem that, if you're an actual creator or industry professional, being an explicit hater is not a wise decision regardless.

Adriene/insertdisc5 is a random tumblr writer so who cares, but Jello being a hater on main was exactly how he set back localization discourse by 20 years and destroyed his reputation as a critic. Like i keep saying, it's not like Jello has the creator cred to justify using "hate as fuel" either.

Even if you like epithet erased and so this is basically, those videos were made +6 years ago. Otherwise he's an okay but unremarkable voice actor and while his lets plays can be funny, those are group efforts and not just jello.

This list makes sense in a vaacum but the way he words explains so much about jello and how he experiences stuff. A normal lets player understand that being entertaining while enjoying the game is the challenge but jello doesn't. The gameplay is simply an obstacle in the way of the only thing you're supposed to care, the voice acting. Words must appear quirky enough, frequent enough and small casted enough.

Instead he talks like a "voice director/dungeon master", hand picking the "actors" who will play the characters in the story and players who will roleplay the headcanons of their inside jokes. Imagine having your "friend" decide who you're allowed to give a funny voice for his video.

And it's not even an honest list either, with jello literally having to make excuses for layton and fire emblem. The trails series sounds like it wouldn't apply either but it's obviously jello streamed anyway cause he likes it.

Changing the story without the author's approval when you can contact him is beyond arrogant. "SHEER FUCKING HUBRIS!" Kubo actually changed the story of Bleach for the TYBW anime to make it better. He can listen to criticism. He just knows that those that "fix stories/art" are not better than him. Jello is an idiot.

A very naive part of me wants to give him the benefit of the doubt, and say that maybe Hamtaro is something he believes isn't good, but still likes, and that he's able to acknowledge that the things he likes aren't perfect

But knowing him, I'm sure he's still too opinionated to accept that some people think that Hamtaro is legitimately good, and will argue against them, even if he himself likes it

Also, I love how Jello doesn't even answer the question. Here's one of his fans, coming up to him with the expectancy to get advice from someone they believe to be knowledgeable about Hamtaro, and he just makes a stupid joke, laughs at his own joke, then end it there.

Not sure what the best snide remark to make is. Whether I should snipe at how he has to humblebrag in his response, or the implication that he only enjoys gag dubs.
 
You can still love a series deeply even if you understand deep down it has problems. Brendan just wants to have his cake and eat it too.

He's just the kind of person who would've grown up with Digimon (to give an example), then found out about the Japanese sub later and completely shits on his childhood for the rest of his days for not localizing it properly. Those kinds of "purists" are the absolute worst, which is why I'm shocked he's not a Hamtaro purist.

I watched hamtaro as a kid on tv and i liked it. No one i know would care about that wether i think it's good or not. I don't remember it enough but i remember it being a good passtime after school.

But jello has to clarify that he only watched it ironically cause it's not good okay? Why would you even say "there is a reason i was able to abridge 3 episodes to one 8 minutes short" like whatthehell, it's a slice of life anime for children about pet hamsters who ham-ham all over the place, it's not about """THE PLOT""".

He's such a hyper cynical loser who is perpetually scared of internet strangers calling him CRINGE over his anime tastes. He can't give an opinion without being defense about it or a spiteful contrarian.

Guess what jello, it's too late for that! You're already the guy everyone considers to have bad taste and opinions.

You can also argue that Lovely Complex is a gag dub. That is, instead of localizing it, he just rewrote the whole thing with Marissa Lenti and kept laughing at their own inside jokes with the voice actors
