'Empire' star Jussie Smollett attacked in possible hate crime

“Empire" actor Jussie Smollett was attacked in the early morning hours on Tuesday in what Chicago police are calling a possible hate crime.

Smollett was attacked by two people "yelling out racial and homophobic slurs" and "poured an unknown chemical substance on the victim," police said.

According to police, one of Smollett's alleged attackers also put a rope around his neck. Both fled the scene.

Smollett took himself to Northwestern Hospital and "is in good condition," police told CNN.

Later Tuesday, CNN's Don Lemon spoke to Smollett and a mutual friend who was at the hospital with the actor. Smollett confirmed the incident took place.

He was shaken and angry that an attack like this could happen. Smollett told CNN he fought back at the attackers.

"Given the severity of the allegations, we are taking this investigation very seriously and treating it as a possible hate crime," the police statement said.

Smollett has starred on Fox's "Empire" since 2015. He plays Jamal, a successful singer in the musical Lyon family. Like his character, Smollett identifies as gay.

"We are deeply saddened and outraged to learn that a member of our 'Empire' family, Jussie Smollett, was viciously attacked last night," a representative of 20th Century Fox Television and Fox Entertainment said in a statement to CNN. "We send our love to Jussie, who is resilient and strong, and we will work with law enforcement to bring these perpetrators to justice. The entire studio, network and production stands united in the face of any despicable act of violence and hate -- and especially against one of our own."

A representative for GLAAD told CNN the organization has reached out Smollett to offer assistance and support.

"Jussie is a true champion for LGBTQ people and is beloved by the community and allies around the world," a GLAAD spokesperson said in a statement.

I'm basing this off of the fact that he was only off of video camera for 60 seconds. It's absolutely possible that two people could have jumped him, thrown a couple of punches, and maybe kicked him in the ribs a few times within 60 Seconds. A beat down happens really fast sometimes.

The question is where did they go after that? Smollet is shown walking away with a "noose" or whatever, something you could also put over your neck within 60 Seconds. However, these non-maga hat wearing, all black and not hunting clothes, more made up shit, and who were likely black people either beat the shit out of someone and then stood at the exact place they committed the crime so they wouldn't be seen on camera ever, or they turned invisible/jumped back though a time portal into the ether.

It's the media infection. Even rational people can have slip ups in objectivity when they've been having pozzed shit thrown in their faces on a non-stop basis. Some of these ideas like, "Well, something happened, I just don't know what" and "Maybe this complete trash pile of a story is true" get a foothold sometimes. This isn't an attack on @r00 or anyone else, it's just something that's so insidiously pushed by the media, plus the fact that you're dealing with a public that believes all of this shit unquestionably, it's bound to slip in as I said.

His lying about when it happened would explain the very weird timeline that's been reported in the media.

Supposedly he went out for a sandwich "shortly after" midnight but then supposedly got jumped at 2 am. It takes over an hour and a half to get a sandwich from Subway? I wonder if the cops actually have tracked him via CCTV over that entire period or if there are more time gaps that CPD doesn't know about/doesn't care about. Although the "noose" suddenly appearing between the time he left Subway and got back to his hotel still points to an intentional hoax, not just Smollett spontaneously deciding to make himself a victim.

And of course there's the letter that sure seems like it was sent by him or someone who knows him. I'm dying to know if he was in Chicago at the time the letter was mailed.

I don't live in a metro are but it would take me 20-30 minutes to walk to the nearest one, but that really depends on how fast you walk. Based on the map of where the subway, the "persons of interest," and Smollet were, a couple of city blocks isn't going to take much more than that, unless Chicago blocks have gotten much longer since the last time I was there?

So yeah, he's cutting some stops out of his story if he's claiming that coups of blocks is a two hour walk.
