I really liked Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies. The former successfully revitalized the series after it started to lose it's place in the 80s, and the latter is probably one of the most underrated and prescient Bond films in terms of what it has to say about the world we live in (the news media specifically). The World Is Not Enough was much weaker in terms of plot, and Die Another Day was pure schlock, but they were at least fun.If he hadn't been paired with the worst writing staff trying to ape the Roger Moore films for some goddamn reason instead of peak Connery, Daniel Craig would probably still be starring in bad video game adaptations.
I actually think the writing in the Craig era films is significantly worse, and I'd say it's primarily the consequence of the writers attempting to make the movies character-driven as opposed to plot-driven.
They've gone to great lengths to explore Bond's past, family relationships, and motivations, while the plot in each film has been relegated to some vague, overarching story about a shadowy organization which is secretly behind everything having some implausibly personal connection to Bond.
