Going over the art thread on that Sonic Stadium forum, his art is amateurish but shows promise. His problem is that when he's given some really valuable advice...

... he falls back on excuses so he doesn't have to leave his comfort zone.

Granted, taken alone this could be shrugged off. I have been in very dire emotional straits where criticism on my work just stings and gets me right in the chest, but combined with his blustering about how he is a TRUE MISUNDERSTOOD ARTIST and people who draw art to appeal to people are ART HOOKERS, it's just amusing to me.

More confirmation that he wants to talk the talk, but can't walk the walk when it comes to art.

Criticism can really hurt, especially when you're emotionally connected to your work but his attitude that his work is above critique and "that's just how I work why should I change my work to appeal to you art hookers!" Is just... *stress sigh*

I think this guy is going to go places if he keeps this up. Not where he wants to go though.

I am bothered to see all his Journals and things. However I am hopeful he will grow out of it when he hits the wider world. He has two roads to take. Someone he cares about/respects will give him a verbal dress-down about his snobbish art opinions, or his setting himself above others with his views on sex and drawing for commission(since he is clearly above such basic things): then he must choose to either wall Himself up and become embittered by this, hiding in his delusion; or to
take the tough but vital step to look more critically at himself and his work.

I find this quote from him to another Artist baffling:

Anyway, besides some moments and rants of angst. I still kinda like the guy; a little less but he's still just a kid. He made a strong first impression on me. I feel bad for him, but all of this is worthy of documenting; at least he can see himself at some point and realize what a mistake he made. Heck, his 30-something self can have a laugh at it all in 12 years.

Remember those posts in 2013 were made by a 16-17 year-old. I know that I thought and did dumb things back then. I really hope this is just a phase for him and he can grow out of it. If he decides to take his work seriously and seriously study this in school, he will eventually have to do a live drawing of a naked subject. It's one of the best ways to learn the human body.

I really want him to grow out of it. Don't want him deciding to go on a 5-year flame-war across the internet, like someone we all know:

Not a fan of the broad definition of porn and smut let alone the cyber-stalking. Then again we do the cyber-stalk stuff to gather info for a wiki...

He needs to learn the art market is very broad and there is demand for nearly everything as long as you put it out and create it. Also he can be accepted, but he is going to have to let down parts of his guard and judgements.

We really don't change that much through the years. We just learn how stupid we were when we were younger. That's just my 2 pennies.

It's a relief to find out this kid is only 18. An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.

I can't gauge his technical ability (his comfort with anatomy and style fluctuates heavily, probably tracing?), but if it weren't for the mawkish philosophic pretensions, he might've almost got away with being Sort-of Okay.

He's at the age where, if he wants to get someplace with his art, he needs to be 'broken'. Because hey, if Dobby managed to make it as a shitty and unsuccessful artist, it'd be all too easy for some arts course to fellate this kid's ego into a rubiconic complacency.

The fact he didn't come here all ruffled and hot and bothered while lobbing accusations of "HATERS!!" almost has me concerned. He's too confident.

To be honest, I was sort of like this when I was a little younger. It started when I was in ninth grade or so when I started reading movie reviews. I realized that there were more complex ways of looking at media than just "sucks" or "love it!". Add to that that I as writing and believed I was the next great writer/poet/whatever, and I sounded just like this pretentious child. So I understand, but until he grows up, well, he's just a little melodramatic baby. @The Cunning Condor , if you do come back, constructive criticism is the only way to improve as any sort of artist. I'm in a writing group where we read each others work and critique them, then return the next week to see if we've fixed what was wrong. You're a fool if you think you know what you're doing without sufficient practice or feedback. Or maybe you are 'a cartoonist at 18', whatever that means.

So I went and saw if I could find anything beyond his Sega forums profile. I went on the internet archive website to see if I could get some captures of his profile before he was banned but I unfortunately came up short. Unsurprisingly, his old art topic on the Sonic Stadium is either his art or him complaining that nobody is paying attention to his art.

Chris is one of the Sonic Stadium forum's two admins. He finally got sick of Condor's shit after he spent days spouting depression and hate rhetoric.

If you do ever come back to the Forum here, I have a digital copy of the Animator's Survival Kit to give you. I think this would be an wonderful treasure of things to consider, try and learn for you in Drawing.
Many principles of cartooning and animation are the same and there is wonderful advice and experience from a legend in the business(Richard Williams) contained in it.

One of my favourite Advices comes from the beginning of the book, it is a humour but meaningful crumb of prose:

Just some food for thought on being stuck in your ways art-wise.
There is even a story of how the author after being in the illustration and animation business for twenty Years realises he is missing a key part of drawing technique and must force himself to go back to basics to re-teach himself this skill. Even taking lessons and critique from a much younger man despite all his own years of experience and success.
