There is a significant level of hatred nursed by the Sikhs against Islam that one would struggle to quantify outside violence, as the (purported) persecutions by the Mughal Rulers, particularly under Emperor Aurangzeb, has left a significant psychological scar on the Religion's Pysche.

That overriding hatred and distrust of Islam is exemplified in the Sepoy Rebellions that broke out only eight years after the 2nd Anglo-Sikh War and the subsequent annexation of Punjaub and the Sikh Empire.

UK justice Minister had to step down after death threats from Pro Palestinian activists and extreme Islamists

A teacher went in hiding for showing a cartoon of Mohammed in the UK

A principal's school received bomb threats from radical Muslims for banning prayer in school in compliance with secularism

These happened in the span of the same month.

How do I know that a lot of lefties are just doing only performance politics when they say they can't stand Christianity? When it's when they shill for Islam.

Part of the reason why many on the far-left support Islam but puts on the fedora for Christianity is because Islam is the religion of the brown man. Orange Man complains about Muslims therefore white = racist and Islam = good.

It also shows me that many of the fedora lefty atheist types when they complain about childhood trauma growing up in religion are being disingenuous if they're going to blindly support a religion that is arguably more militant and hypermasculine than Christianity. The New Testament does not call for the establishment of a theocratic government (even Paul the Apostle called for Christians to submit to their rulers) but Islam instructs you how to abolish an old government and replace it with an Islamic one. I've read the Quran and this is what it teaches its followers.

I remember that one case where this town in Michigan decided to prohibit the LGBT flag from being shown on public property and the lefties were shocked that the local Muslim community doesn't support the LGBT community (but it came to the surprise of no one for those familiar with Islam).

I can understand defending the civil rights of Muslims that are living in the Western world from discrimination. But then thinking Islam in itself as an ideology is somehow a net positive for secular Western civilization that everyone should follow is fucking retarded.

You know, the whole "They are only homophobic because of colonial laws" is so weird, its infantilism at its peak, the people who fought for freedom, who removed other colonial laws, are just incapable of changing it? In 60 years no one in the country ever decided they should not treat people like dirt because of a paper some european wrote?

I mean, no one say that the US kept slavery until 1865 because of it being a colonial legacy, people dont say "Of course the Confederates kept their slaves, they wanted to treat blacks well, but the cursed anglo writen law stops them from doing it"

It seems more complicated topic than both sides seem to show it. Historically homosexuality in Islamic world was quite complex topic, althrough it was banned from the legal perspective it seems that there was greater tolerance than in western world. Things changed in XIX century with the rise of modern day radical islam (salafism for example). Hatered and presecutions against homosexuals was based in this revival of orthodox islam, which was partially caused by colonialism for sure, but it should be noted that it still was creation of orthodox islamic theology. It came from within islam rather than forgein powers. So this entire cope that "It was caused by muh colonialism" is pretty much bullshit.
 
The idea of Islam being compatible with western walues, or even secularism seems to be most prevelent among these leftists who try to accept the religion - which I think is not correct, but there is a certain type of governence which allows for some cohesion (This will be personal\observational exprience, kind of PL):

In my country, Kazakhstan - the religious majority are muslims, but the lawmaking is made from a secular standpoint; In short - no matter what the folk want, the country will host due process secularly, which forbids any type of political tomfoolery Islam does. The government is still corrupt and forwards all resources abroad, but the chance of total distabilisation is lowered by it's way of governing.

Also the Islam practiced by kazakhs is a little free-form - as in, some kazakhs drink, women don't veil themselves, clothes are not mandated by sharia, there are no attacks on other religious temples; And they don't really hide it. The government frequently makes statements about the country needing to aling itself with western principles and practices (I'm all for it, but please without the sodomy).

In short - Islam can be only governable if there is a secular body watching over and meticulously controling it, with the citizens having to swear allegiance and heed the laws of said secular governing body.

You have to understand that a foundation of modern leftism is there are only two types of people in the world, opressors and the oppressed. Muds are an oppressed group because they're not traditionally white, have fallen under colonial rule, etc. That means they are automatically the good guys. If they do anything wrong it's because of trauma inflicted by their oppressors and should be excused as small group of bad actors anyway.

This isn't surprising considering their blind, unwavering support for the Muslim Palestinians, who would throw all these idiots off a building or behead them blindfolded if they ever made contact with them. Also, the Nun's habit and the Muslim hijab are false equivalences. Despite the Catholic Church's terrible historical treatment of women, women and girls aren't forced into becoming nuns or have to wear headscarves within Catholicism. Muslim women and girls even as young as three often have no choice in most Muslim countries and are forced into donning the veil.

It's undeniable that the Catholic Church had its claws sunk deep into Irish society. The Church needed to be brought down a peg and thank god the institution has very little power and influence in Ireland today. Its abuse of power and mistreatment of women was almost akin to Islamic countries under Sharia Law today. So why would you want to replace an outdated and misogynistic belief system with another one that is just as if not more archaic, sexist, and hateful? The average left-winger would have an aneurysm if they knew how women are treated in most Muslim countries today.
