I met the woman who would become my wife and suddenly my life was way better.

Men suffer from being lonely. Interactions online don't really fill that void. So anything you can do to get some friends in person (specifically friends that aren't terrible people) will be way better for you than therapy.

No and yes.
Similar to how people will say "I exercise all the time and can't lose weight" but all they're doing is some barely-anything activity, it's the same for therapy. If your therapist isn't actively upsetting you, then you aren't going to make any progress.
Unfortunately we live in times where it's normal for a good personal trainer to push you, but abnormal for a therapist to do the mental equivalent with their patients.

You know how a lot of doctors will shrug, take your money, and say "I dunno" to any problem more complex than a broken arm? So you have to go shopping around for a competent one? Therapists are a lot like that, except their field has even more woo woo. More of them are clueless, some actively malicious and will try to throw troonery at you.

As for working out, it's like I've said about depression. I'm not saying it's not a problem requiring a therapist chemical imbalance in your brain that requires drugs to correct. But perhaps if your genetic predispositions to walking at least a mile a day, getting vitamin D, not eating garbage, having real targets for your amygdala's paranoia, all of those get taken care of first- maybe those problems go away. Maybe they don't. But it's possible that list of things is your problem, and not the need for an expensive prescription.

therapy can work if:

the patient is wanting to work over time to make changes in their life to achieve a tangible goal

the therapist isn't a white woman who's using therapy as personal gossip time or heckin wholesome grooming time

so therapy can succeed, but the odds are like 10%

No, therapists are bullshit. Actual therapy is all about pushing people out of their comfort zones, which is necessary to dislodge them from the repetitive mentally exhausting/damaging cycles.

Unfortunately, very few therapists are willing to go the extra mile to do this and instead just sit there and listen/talk endlessly about the patients bullshit. They do this because they are either mental midgets who don't understand what they are supposed to be doing or they make more money off this endless repeat business. Not to mention that a lot of people are so uncomfortable with breaking these norms that they will switch therapists even if they find a good one.

My therapist was a Vietnam war vet/former prisoner of the viet cong who actively pushed me out of the cycles that made me miserable and challenged my faulty views. It was due to his rigor and own traumatic experiences that allowed him to identify the problems in his patients lives and push them so hard to break those cycles.

People have to actively find these therapists and avoid those that coddle them.

i hate how you guys have nuanced and reasonable answers. i expect absolute retardation.

but in my personal opinion, a lot of your problems will go away if you just had a gym membership and actively used it

DA CURE FORE DEPRESSION IS CURLS IN DA SQUAT RACK! THAT WAY IF I DROP THE BAR IT DON'T GO ALL THE WAY DOWN TO DA FLOOR!

Yes those niggers rinsing niggers, and the state. For any answers to soft sciences, simply google, it'll provide you whatever answers you need and no niggers getting handouts. Therapists are worse than welfare niggers, at least the welfare niggers are honest (well moreso).

Eh. I found that it helped with some things, but not others. Didn't do any good for my social issues, but it definitely helped me get through my dad's death and helped a bit with my chronic insomnia.

It depends, in principle having someone to talk to about your problems is good, humans are after all social animals and all that, but if you only stick to talking instead of actually self-reflecting and finding out what's the origin of your problems then you'll leave the exact same way you entered, and very few therapists are willing to directly tell their patients that they do have a problem and they have to solve it

Perhaps if you tried going to therapy you'd realize that working out and self-improvement is actually closely tied with white supremacy, and your depression would go away if you tried confronting your closed mindedness with the help of a professional instead of hiding from it through nonsense like exercise and proper nutrition.

Little known fitness secret: if you deadlift enough you will collapse into a being of pure energy and rise above entropy and above our soulless, fragmented, culturally vacuous corporate dystopia, directly into the next plane of existence.

Therapy is very much one of those solutions that only works if youre doing the majority of the work yourself. So basically paying for it is a scam. Much like a fatty cannot lose the weight until they decide they want to change you will not progress mentally until you want to do so. Make chat gpt ask you difficult questions then answer them. congrats free therapy.

Yes it's bullshit, the only mind you can truly know is your own. how is someone else supposed not only understand your own mind but advise you on how to fix it? if therapists held the answers how come people in therapy for years aren't qualified therapists?

The whole meme of talking about your problems is self destructive because all emotions are fun, even ones we think of as negative. You will end up looking for problems, build none issues into problems and hold onto them in order to justify being an emotional faggot.

Yes, therapy is absolutely complete bullshit and you should never need to do it in your life unless you have severe mental illness.

That being said, our society has become so pathetic and weak of spirit and constitution that I can see people needing it because they're legitimately unstable due to years of learned helplessness.
