It is. Officers here get paid beyond $100k after their first year (average salary here is ~$50k). It is a customer service job with more bullshit involved. If you train yourself in brazilian jiu jitsu and tame your trigger finger and not get attached to repeat callers/offenders, you can actually have a good time. Don't expect to change the community. Lot of officers go in with that mind set and get burnt out. Don't expect to abuse your power. That's a tightening noose around your neck. The pension is great.

If you abuse your power, every good cop will paint a target on your back to get you fired as soon as possible. The females are useless as partners except in sexual assault situations. Don't expect a rookie nor a female to have your...
Yes, but not police. Consider forensics. You are safe, you are paid more, you understsnd your boundaries. You'll be in a nice, air-conditioned and heated environment indoors. Sure it will require a college degree in biology and law enforcement courses, but you will be more valued by society. Probably will have wonky work hours, though, like needing to get up at 2am to examine a crime scene.

Don't trust any other cop that hasn't proven they've got other cops' back in physical altercations. You do not want a bitch who can't hold their own.

A rookie, first day on the streets with her field training officer. FTO got in a confrontation with a suspect, rookie froze up, quit the next day realizing it wasn't for her.

It's a rewarding job but it's got to be something you can put up with. Most people aren't the type of person suitable for this job.

True how many violent offenders go back and murder their forensics examimer instead of their lawyer/ poolees officer

I don’t get the idea being a police officer is a good job. They are urgently trying to hire people where I live but the life of a cop here is paid well; but probably not well enough for what they have to put up with.

I’m not sure there would be any money you could throw at me to be a cop; money isn’t everything if you’ve a job you can’t stand.
