It is. Officers here get paid beyond $100k after their first year (average salary here is ~$50k). It is a customer service job with more bullshit involved. If you train yourself in brazilian jiu jitsu and tame your trigger finger and not get attached to repeat callers/offenders, you can actually have a good time. Don't expect to change the community. Lot of officers go in with that mind set and get burnt out. Don't expect to abuse your power. That's a tightening noose around your neck. The pension is great.

Financially? Sure, if you're happy with an upper lower class/lower middle class income. Morally? Depends. You can still be both a LEO and a good citizen in some rural sheriffs departments, though the money will be closer to upper lower class. Go into law enforcement at the federal level or in any metroplitan area though and you're just a thug for the elites. So it all realky depends on how you define viable.
