Is it still primarily a dress up game with a plot? Cause I swear if it’s anything like Genshin Gacha mechanics I’m gonna be disappointed. The original was a guilty pleasure of mine.
The main storyline is Nikki and Momo get Narnia'd into Miraland, get blessed by a chained up deity and have to save Miraland with the power of literally magical fashion that gives them superpowers.

The first village has you trying to hunt down the faggot who sells "Quick-Wish Bottles" to people promising that using it instantly grants their wishes. It actually makes them hallucinate and then fall into a coma.

There's also another village near a bunch of stone formations you have to visit to hunt down the chief faggot, who is also trying to sabotage the native Stylists (fashion mages) big competion/festival.

Also there was a big war in the past that killed the first village's god. The second village claims the first village's god was actually reincarnated into the second village's god. The first village (and their god's blue fairy kids) claim this is blasphemy so they hate each other.

I'm not that far along in the main quest so I don't know if there's Blood Curse shenanigans or if anyone gets Lunar'd

Not sure how it compares to previous Nikki games, but there's a fair amount of dressing up involved. You collect resources and sketches in the open world to craft new outfits. You use the outfits to complete quests by winning styling challenges. For example, there's a sidequest where a big-city fashion magazine editor comes to small, rural Stoneville to try to convince a former coworker to return with him to the big city. She wants to stay in the small town, so you put together an outfit with themes of Fresh and Pastoral to show him that rural people can be fashionable, too. There's also an entire chain of sidequests about defeating local styling gangs in styling challenges to become the top stylist in each region.

The game lets you take selfies and upload them to the server, after which they'll appear in other players' worlds. Other players can see your selfies and drop a like or take a picture alongside your avatar. Obviously you'll want to look good for this.

The limited gacha banner has a featured 5-star outfit on it. Each outfit consists of 8 or 9 pieces, like shoes, top, skirt, hairstyle, etc. You can specify which part of the featured outfit you want the most. I think every 10 pulls guarantees a 4-star piece, and every 20 pulls guarantees a 5-star piece. I think. When you pull a 5-star piece, it's guaranteed to be the one you selected. The upside is that there's no coin-flip shit like in Genshin where you can finally win a 5-star draw after 75 pulls and still lose by getting something you didn't want. The downside is that it would take like 160 to 180 pulls to guarantee the full featured outfit. I think it's less awful than Genshin's, but that's because I don't get excited about in-game cosmetics, so I don't feel any FOMO pressure. The gacha outfits have high styling scores, but so far every styling challenge I've seen was easily beatable without them. But if someone was super into virtual dress-up games, I can see how it could be just as predatory as Genshin's.

The sad thing is that Jap whales are insane enough to see it as a better alternative than the devs releasing a free to play version so every random dreg can cuck them by getting their waifu.
good one, I'll have to add that to my list of reasons to hate asians

gacha isn't a brand, learn the difference.
again it's a monetization model, which can always be good or bad depending how it's implemented. it would be like me saying "I have not played a single standalone game that wouldnt have been a better more enjoyable game if the RNG mechanics didnt exist or atleast didnt cost money." most likely the game wouldn't be made in the first place, and then not run for long.
I made the brand comment because your logic is defending a product being shitty solely for money reasons
if a game has to debase itself with microtransactions to make money instead of just being a good product then it would be better if the game wasnt made in the first place, rather than existing as a shell of what it could be.

This game has me in a chokehold tbh. It's so chill, I wear the cutest fucking clothes, I make my outfits, I run around and clean some animals and catch some bugs, I style so hard that people are in awe of me, and I take so many photos. So many photos. I've always shit on people for buying video games skins and shaking in gacha because I think spending your money on things that aren't real is retarded, but holy shit the urge to spend money and pull for some of those outfits are so strong. Something has flipped in my brain that urges me to dress up Nikki like the pretty princess she is.
I'm really a fan of how this game is clearly for the girls by the girls. I think every other gacha game out right now markets to coomers by having the big mommy milkers woman that has hundreds of polygons on her tits and ass and the "she's 1000 years old" child dressed in skimpy clothing. I'm so fucking tired of sexual content in my rpg games! Yes there is a Sexy archetype in Nikki but its not sexual or exploitative. In Nikki, there's no jiggle physics, there's dress physics. And I love seeing my dress swish and my hair wave so fucking much.
Hello! I also play Nikki! Tbh I've completed the main story that's out thus far and I can't wait for further major story updates!!!
I'm playing in a fucking iPad mini since my ol desktop does not mesh well with it. However....I might ask a friend with a render rig to install so I can get some great high res photos. Your pics look so fucking pretty. I can see the fucking threads on the dress!!!!!!
I had some really good photos but I lost them because I had to reinstall my game since the last update fucked up the launcher and I didn't know that the photos are deleted as well. I'm quite very sad about it.

I finished getting through the first main storyline, crafted the first Miracle Outfit, and I'll say that while I'm not playing for as many hours a day as I was when I started I'm still enjoying the game. I think the main story chapters kind of drag at parts because you're doing a lot of back and forth and little things that seem irrelevant keep popping up seemingly just to pad out the length of the story. There's a lot of "Go here to find this guy/thing, oh wait we just missed it now go here instead". And you'll see a Whimstar pop up and for me it's just impossible to not drop everything and go get that Whimstar even when I'm in the middle of a quest. And then of course you'll likely stumble upon another and then another Whimstar and you get sidetracked, and then random quests start popping up etc. I have so many random quests backed up but at least that means I'm not hurting for "content" I suppose. There's an entire area left to explore at the end of the first main storyline too that you would have never stepped foot in unless you went out of your way to go there first.

The events are better, at first it seemed like an overwhelming amount of stuff but you can easily do it all over a couple weeks. Getting an entirely new island, a big quest, new mini-games, new ability outfits. It was fun.

Crafting and upgrading your stuff is kind of an issue. I'll give the game credit though, you have the resources to get everything you need without spending money. The in-game currency and crafting materials can all be acquired by spending your Vital Energy which recharges fully in a bit over a day. And there are consumables that recharge it as well but those are limited. You'll still be aching for Vital Energy though since there's a lot it's used for. You need it to get Eureka, get special crafting materials, upgrade your stats, and most importantly get Bubbles. Bubbles are used to Glow Up and improve your outfits which you'll need to do to win Styling Challenges. And good god do your Bubbles disappear quick if you're upgrading a lot of clothes and going to the higher levels. So while you can get every resource you need you're kind of going to be constantly torn on what to use it on.

Still the game is a lot of fun and a lot of fun to just explore and the platforming is pretty good too. There's some really excellent music as well. If you don't care about the grind or just want something to play for dressing up Nikki then this is a good game cause there really are a ton of outfits and clothes. Nikki's English VA is really good too, has the perfect voice for the character.

If only that last number was a 0, I'd be extremely based.

I played through the story without getting too distracted with side quests, exploration, taking pictures and now I'm spending hours every play session doing just that. Really trying to get likes on my pictures but most of them don't get any. Hope people appreciate when I take pictures with their Nikkis at least, those are the most fun. I keep checking back on my likes and friend requests I've sent just to be dissapointed every time.

Showed the game to my mom and she liked how cute Nikki is and her outfits. This alone is going to keep me playing the game, I need to keep collecting clothes to share with her. I let her dress up Nikki, she could barely handle the menus and didn't go through everything but she made a Nikki I'll keep saved forever, unless I really need the extra slot, four is not enough.

We now have an official interactive map. Only syncs with your Whimstars, Dews and Warp Spires currently, but shows the location for everything.

Steam release is coming soon.

Love all the whiny faggots crying out how much Gacha hurts them.

Like nigger go fucking outside lol

Gacha is fucking gay.
Play NES games on the real console without save states like a man.
I mean I'm not spending money on either when I can just fucking emulate every system ever and choose not to use savestates.

My male brain is immune to the gacha tricks of this game. I do still want to dress up my Nikki in the Timeless Melody and spin her around, but much less than any girl would. No amount of hourglasses is going to make me jealous enough to want to spend money on it.

Yeah, as a guy who's just starting out, I'm having fun enough just trying to come up with a look I'd like to see on a woman with just what I can get through F2P.

I'll edit this post and upload a pic when I'm done with the outfit I'm doing right now.

The free outfits lend themselves way better for mixing and matching, and with the events you can easily pull on 4* banners as well. There's a lot of stuff you can collect for free if you avoid the 5* banners that people spend hundreds on for just 2 outfits and maybe recolors. I buy the monthly and weekly pass and that's two more outfits this event for just $6. I also dress my Nikki the same way and now I think maybe women should try gloves more often.

Can I also just mention how much faster this game does small updates like this over Genshit?

Like it took maybe a minute on my phone to update and restart, it didn't have to go and then validate and take another few minutes to actually finish.

Anyway I got the white hat from the girlier of the new outfits, so that's neat I guess.

Actually working on crafting Silvergale's Aria now. It takes about twelve days to get enough Bedrock Crystal if you use absolutely all of your Vital Energy just for that, which is pretty insane. But you should also be hoarding the replenishing vials specifically for crafting the Miracle Outfits in the first place. You need a massive amount of Insight to get the necessary essences for a lot of the materials too, so if you focused purely on crafting the outfit it takes like a month total of Vital Energy and grinding/collecting. But it's not so bad when you actually get down to it because by the time you'll want to start crafting you don't really have any other reason to spend Vital Energy. Even the higher level styling battles are all permanent quests so you could easily put off getting the Bubbles, Blings, and Threads necessary for Glow Ups later. Also for anyone playing who's been putting off crafting Silvergale's Aria, get the crystals first and just grind fishing, animal grooming, and collecting without spending your energy on Insight first. You can easily knock off over 1,000 Insight for each in the time you're getting the crystals.

Me too, not a fan of the outfit's default hair and I wish it came with a gun accessory but I liked the cowboy look way too much to pass it up. Probably going to hoard diamonds until the next banner I really like comes out. The 5 star doll outfit that's available right now is okay but I don't like it enough to roll for it.

I need to get back into this, but as long as my other games are updating, they leave me with hardly any free time.

Makes me so sad because I really like this game. Also, this song is pretty good:

Yeah it has some really good music. You can do the event stuff pretty quickly unless it's a bigger event like what happened for Chinese New Year.
