Of course we need Bossman highlights.
I actually think the highlights are content all in themselves. I was scrolling this morning and got hyped over the big win then scrolled down and found out he lost it all. It was like watching my team nearly score a goal to have the ball bounce off the post. The house always win bbe.

I agree with what Null is saying in essence, but most OPs would benefit from improving their summaries more regularly, so that it's easier to catch up if you're unfamiliar with the lolcow/whatever the subject is and not need to make a dumb post without sifting through 900+ pages of history.
I don’t think that’s really the issue in this case. The problem posters are those that are making the exact same observation as everyone else in the thread, not those that are out of the loop. You should only need to look like 5 pages back to see if you are guilty of that.

Also, maybe if people got notifications for their 32087598325 neg rates for shitting up threads, they would curb such behavior. But probably not.
Some do though.

I love the features and the Community Happenings thread. I have notifications on for the latter, and check it every day when I get to my PC. A majority of the stuff in there is stuff I don't really care about (and thus skip over or ignore), but it's often how I find out about real news events, and I've gotten directed to a lot of interesting new threads that I never would have discovered on my own because of it. It makes me sad that there are retards shitting things up to such an extent that this announcement needed to be made, and I hope the community can shape up.

If the amount he earns and loses is a new record I think it's worth featuring, because what astonishes and amuses me is how he will earn increasingly outrageous amounts of cash and still blow it in a few minutes like a retard.
And nothing comes out of it because he's not even smashing shit (or himself) anymore which is where half the entertainment value lied in my opinion. Reaching a new high score in raw losses isn't feature worthy if there's no additional consequences.

maybe a sticker for user comments the community thinks are guilty of it. something embarrassing like dick masterson's face
Yeah but sticker notifications have been disabled since March or February when Null had a tantrum over it. If someone shitposts on a Featured Thread and moves on, they'll never see it either way.

Devil's Side step:
While your proposal makes sense, when has logic or reason ever stopped people from doing dumb things?

If people keep on shitting up threads to tell people how much they don't care, give them a "Don't care" emoticon similar to Agree, Disagree, Dumb etc.

Those emoticons prevent people from shitty up threads just to say that they agree/disagree that you are dumb etc. The "Don't Care" emoticon could work for people so autistic that they have a burning desire to tell the world how much they don't care.

As much as I enjoy Bossman content, seeing like 15 posts of "DUDE HE JUST LOST IT ALL HE'S BACK UP AGAIN OMG IT'S GONE" across 2 pages in the Habbidings thread was fucking annoying. At this point him winning and losing several tens of thousands of dollarydoos is bordering on a nothingburger. Feature him when he gets a skull fracture, breaks the door over his head or "accidentally" tosses the bong at his dad.
This is only annoying to you because of the ratio of bossman posts to other posts. I would love to see people post about their favourite haunts with the same frequency as the bossman posters do about him. I'm also going to try to do that more for the people I follow. I think the standard for what people post in the Community Happenings thread should not be "is this worthy to be featured in the front page" and more like "did something moderately interesting happen with this lolcow". I think something like a 2-3x increase of community happenings posts would be good, even if they are slightly lower quality. And I also think we shouldn't punish or shit on people who post something that turns out to not have mass appeal or isn't interesting to most people. It's hard to be well calibrated for that kind of thing (the question of what most users are interested in) and if someone gets that wrong I don't think they did something bad. Just move on.

A question to how this applies to posts in PG. Last week we got a vague community happening from a thread in PG that couldn't even get the thread naming convention correct. PG is a board that relies heavily on feedback and one of the most common criticisms on that board is "where's the funny?". Do posts like that or posts that tell the OP to fix their thread if they fail the criteria of automatic failure fall under the don't care, don't post rule?

I wish more people would post more things. Part of my highlights of coming on here is loading up that thread and getting a curated selection of the funniest, more relevant, or outright weirdest threads. Some of my favourite threads have come from people posting updates. When people slow down on it or it's just the same 4 cows, it gets kinda boring.
Same here. I generally lurk AC but I love getting out and discovering more content via the happenings thread.

@Null I’m not sure how difficult it would be, or if it would be possible, but maybe adding the ability to comment directly on the featured post would clear up the thread for actual discussions? A good example would be how replies are handled in Youtube comment sections. It might not fix the issue entirely but itll keep the thread cleaner

After the reaction scores were hidden, I (falsely) hoped that the number of worthless attention-thirsty posts would be somewhat curbed since updoots are more-or-less moot now, but it seems to have only made things worse since "tourists" can now post with zero consequences from negative sticker notifications or a lowered reaction score.

people will simply have to exercise human restraint
:optimistic::optimistic::optimistic: there are not enough rainbows in all of :gay: california :gay: for this comment. :optimistic::optimistic::optimistic:

I like the term 'feature tourism'.

maybe a sticker for user comments the community thinks are guilty of it.
a react with a small icon of the keffals / lfj hunchback walk of shame would be awesome!

omg, OMG, OMG ... bossman is a happenings constant because he's null's pet cow.
whenever null expresses strong opinions about any cow on mati (the gunt, juju the cow, vito the pedo, lick rekieta) it encourages users to post more about those cows in the happenings thread, even though the users who are actually interested are already reading and posting in the cow's thread. that's just the way it is.

A lot of more recent posts have been very long, with complete summaries, and images and videos.
I hate these. If your community happenings post needs to be as long as an OP then it’s probably not a very funny or interesting happening.
