I just love how Jon is so impotent he won't call the police on his brother.
Like, breaking his window, stealing his money, FORGING CHECKS are all great reasons to call the cops. And he actively wants his brother in jail. But this wet paper towel of a human being just sits around and waits for other people to notice his bro's crimes and report them because he won't pick up a fucking phone.
I'm honestly shocked he even called 911 when his mom got beat up - if you asked me to guess I'd just assume he stayed inside and waited for one of the neighbors to do it.

Putting aside the penis car clip; on the basis of available evidence, the draft sketch Sweet wrote shows no obvious signs of ripping off the SNL sketch. When he does copy from other works, he's not exactly subtle - ALFichu, Harley Quinn, catchphrases like "when does the hurting stop?". He's also incredibly immature - there's no way that the vomit jokes or the "shots of a fat man's ass" from the SNL sketch wouldn't have made their way into his sketch in some thinly-disguisedH form.

He's racist, and Rush Limbaugh might have a claim for gimmick infringement, but I'm unconvinced that he plagiarised the SNL sketch. I do think it's likely that his exceptional reaction to the accusations got him permabanned when taken in conjunction with his record of screaming at his colleagues and weirding them out.

His whole "There was no sketch!" sounds like something a little kid caught fibbing would say, plus his mentor saying that he admitted to it, make me more than 50% confident he plagiarized it, though.

That is because Jon is a pathological liar and his brother's crimes are probably a figment of his imagination.

Also, to Jon, "cerebral" and "highbrow" apparently means "gimmicky sci-fi".

Jon is an inveterate liar, but his brother definitely has a record for drug possession.

On the other hand, his brother knows a skilled trade (vehicle spraying) and when he's not in prison he apparently works to support his girlfriend and their daughter. He's probably never made any terroristic threats, either.

So in summary, Sweet's brother doesn't seem like an angel, and I believe the "druggy and reliable" part of Sweet's stories. I don't think he's anywhere near the monster that Sweet paints him as, though.
 
The brother's social media reflects someone who's honest about the significant mistakes he's made. Which is pretty much the opposite of Sweet.

I just wanted to share this as an example of pretty much exactly what Sweet is doing here, but done well. Note the fact that the artist offers more than a blandly literal visual interpretation of the words he's adapting, and that he places the text with an appropriate visual rhythm rather than just slapping a brick of words at the top of each panel.

I'm surprised he wouldn't like "Homeboys in Outer Space" (besides the obvious) because it was a comedy take on the sci-fi genre, which honestly, looking at what he likes in that first grouping, and knowing how much he likes parody and spoofing, seems like it'd be right up his alley. Hell, they even had James Doohan as a regular character!

Also, I watched "Brisco County Jr." and I loved it but I would never call it "highbrow" in a million years. I even knew that back in the day when I was watching it. Hell, it tested well and performed well enough when it started. It was lowbrow fun, shot slickly (for the time) so it was not exactly appointment television enough for it to overcome its time slot.

Pardon my ignorance, but did anything change on TV because of this ratings system besides the little advisory in the corner?
I was too busy working 80 hours a week and going to school to really notice or care when it all happened.

I had a random thought about moving on. Wasn't it around half past 1997 when the Lewinsky scandal was going on and Clinton's supporters kept telling everyone to 'move on'? And Sweets hates liberals and everything they stand for, so now 'Moving on' is nothing but a ploy.

According to Wikipedia, the scandal "emerged" in 1998, so it wasn't long after June 1997 (excuse me - half-past 1997). I personally recall hearing about it in the news in the late 90s, but I forgot what year exactly. I was still in school and not even in college yet.

Also, kind of random, but the weather around Blytheville (where Sweet lives around) is currently chilly, but too warm for snow and ice.

Jon is always complaining about how we "always turn the villains into the heroes of" his stories. But since he whines about every little thing in his life, it's kind of a constant "the boy[-man] who cried wolf" situation, and so naturally people are skeptical about his portrayal of his brother.

You'd think that being an expert in the field that he'd mention the brain damage also occurring in intellectually stunted, racist people. You'd also think that he'd want people to let their kids watch "televised lead" since it makes it easier for him to "commit carnal knowledge of a minor".

The irony is that he only mentioned American names when criticizing "TV-S&L" shows, which means he's dumber than the show's fans. As for Sweets' personal dislike of it, it's probably because it's not racist satire, which is odd when considering that Asian, black and Native American people were chosen for the yellow, black and red rangers. Maybe it's because an Irish person wasn't the green ranger?

Oh wait, I know why, it's because the Asian, black, Native American and Caucasian people were allowed to be part of the same team as equals.
