The combat feels limpdicked.
I have to disagree with this hard. I haven't played Minecraft properly in like half a decade so maybe they changed things, but from what I remember I found it a lot more boring than Hytale.
So far my favorite enemies in Hytale are the accursed giant frogs. The fuckers have a nasty tongue attack that catapults you like you're a scout in Deep Rock Galactic about to fall to your doom. You can block it, but if you don't, you can easily end up getting slung into a lava pool or down some crevasse, falling to your death. Happened to me many times.
There was also this cool scythe wielding undead guy doing some fancy moves, he wasn't very tough but I liked his style a lot.
I also like the different weapons so far. The sword has some lunge attack that thrusts you forward and you can use a shield with it. The two handed axe, well I haven't used that one much, it deals a lot of damage but it feels kind of slow for my liking; haven't used the mace yet at all; I'll have to play with those two some more.
The daggers on the other hand, they feel OP as can be. They're super fast and they don't do that much damage, but when you do a charged attack you do some massive leap attack. If you hit an enemy with it you deal massive damage and you also jump back after hitting them, offering amazing offensive and defensive capabilities at the same time. You can also use them for some sick platforming manoeuvres, like you can easily leap up a 4-6 block high platform to attack an enemy above.
It's also neat how you can charge up a special move by attacking with the same weapon repeatedly, and deal some massive damage with that.
The bow also seems kind of OP to me simply because enemies seem to not react to you hitting them if they're far enough away lol.
And speaking of movement, I like how you can mantle up height elevations easily, heck you can even sprint up 1 block height differences, it's great.
I also like how there seem to be a lot of ruined structures filled with enemies or loot that you can find around the world, both underground and above ground. Biomes look cooler than what I remember in Minecraft too, I'll have to post some screenshots at a later date.
But I could be wrong on this, as I said, I haven't played Minecraft in many years, maybe vanilla is better nowadays, or is that wishful thinking?
Edit: All that being said, it is very early accessy and barebones as GGSurvivor said. But they seem to be adding new stuff at a reasonable pace so I'm happy with it.
