I was in the camp that was concerned about a general lack of characters in Age of Calamity. Now that I have finally finished Age of Calamity I am pretty satisfied with the cast. It is definitely smaller than the previous game, but I feel like each of the characters are a bit more fleshed out and they all have their uses... with maybe one or two exceptions. Overall it is a much more focused game and the character roster reflects that. Toward the latter half of the main campaign you'll start unlocking some pretty interesting characters to play as. And what originally struck me as copy/paste characters actually ended up being pretty good. And then you get to the post game where you can unlock some really unique and OP fighters.

I'm glad I bought the game. The only thing that really bums me out is that the co-op multiplayer is a step backwards from Hyrule Warriors on the Wii U. Specifically, I am referring to being able to use the television and Wii U gamepad for players one and two. That shit was great. Split screen just isn't good enough and there is no online.

Overall I wouldn't mind some more content released for this game. It's all good stuff and I'd like more. But I'm cool with what we have and don't mind jumping in and replaying some stuff.

On a whim I decided to return to this game after finishing Tears of the Kingdom. Only this time I'm on the Switch instead of the 3DS. And I'm playing in Japanese instead of English. This game really has no mercy with its expectations of you being able to speed-read. Also, was it always this easy to rush Level 4+ weapons? I'm doing them right after Legend Mode. Got Sheik's, Cia's, Tetra's, Linkle's, the King's, and Young Link's already, and the only earlier level weapon hunting I did before that was getting Link's and Young Link's Level 3 weapons. The rest were done stock post-Legend Mode. I tried and failed to get Fi's. Probably gonna have to get her Level 3 weapon first or get Fairy Fountain and spam fairy nukes, because god damn this bitch just can't do any damage to officers. It took me over 20 minutes to complete the level, and there's no way I'm S-ranking time and damage taken with how long it takes to kill stuff. The next Level 4+ in my path seems to be Agitha's, but I don't know how well that's gonna go without Hasty Attacks. Agitha juggles good, but god damn she is so slow you almost have to have Hasty Attacks on her to make her usable, though at least she does damage, unlike Fi. Though I'd have to get another 40 or so Skulltulas before I can get Hasty Attacks, and I hate hunting for those things. I'd honestly prefer rushing for Fairy Fountain and just cheesing it that way.

I have it. It's the ONLY reason I bought the switch 2. Mind you I haven't finished the game. But this is my opinion
The gameplay is the same as Age of Calamity. So it's alright. My only issue is that after you recruit the four sages too many little fetch quests show up and they start getting overwhelming.

Story wise:
It sucks. I know this one is canon so Nintendo has to reign in KT but they reigned them in too much.
AoC proved they could tell a good Zelda story. Like Hyrule castle falls and the queen is dead and we just move on? The scene in AoC right after leaving Hyrule Castle was WAY more emotionally satisfying.
The characters:
Raru: Sucks. Roham was way better as the king of a doomed land. You could tell Roham was DESPERATE to save his Land but unable to do anything and nervous that it was all on his daughter's shoulders and she was lowkey failing.
Mineru: Is fine.
Sonia: literally that meme of Emma Roberts as the doomed wife.
Calamo: a treasure the best character.
K. Construct: I like his scenes with Calamo.
Rito Sage: The best of the sages. He's a more likeable Revali.
Goron Sage: Who cares.
Zora Sage: Needs a little more screen time but she's growing on me.

The worst:
Zelda: Not only do I hate her voice but I hate how she acts in this. Since we've seen how she acts in a Musou game. This Zelda is just Rarus Cheerleader. To have her go from the leading role to just a passive role sucks. They should've had her do SOMETHING.
Ardi: Absolutely sucks. And I absolutely blame Nintendo. In three hopes Azure Gleam if you recruited Dorothea she would would comment on being forced to fight her people and you could tell she was having a bad time. So I was hoping that in this game we would see her struggling with having to kill her own people. But NOPE all the Gerudo conveniently abandon Ganondorf.
