The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep.

Go for an evening walk, those usually knock me out. Could work for you. Dress warm

Delta 8 dab pens/edibles and occasionally whiskey. Actual weed works better but that's not legal where I am currently. I tried melatonin for a bit but I swear I slept worse with it than with anything else.

My adhd brain literally will not stop thinking for two seconds, same with fidgeting around. So I force myself to lay still. And I dunno...recite song lyrics slowly in my head, or something like that, to consume my focus. I also listen to quiet music, like ambient electronic stuff, or calm jazz, or white noise.
Also gotta have the fan blowing cool air on my face, and my cat next to my pillow, and my body in precisely the right position. Dude I'm just rambling huh... Tbh I have bad sleep problems so who am I to be giving advice? :lit:

Keep a fairly consistent sleep schedule. Don't really deviate from it by more than an hour and try to keep deviations rare.

Some people swear by melatonin, but I wake up feeling like shit if I take it. Might still be worth trying.
I'm sure it's a bit different for everyone, but the melatonin thing can be really bad if you try to take it long term; I always end up feeling sluggish and tired throughout most of the day if I take it consistently. Using it occasionally avoids the worst of it, at least for me.

I usually just lay down and go to sleep.

Anyways, decaf green tea and herbal teas are great. I'm drinking half decaf green and half turmeric ginger right now. Throw two bags of those into a cup and sip that for a bit, it has actual relaxant chemicals and is generally extremely healthy, plus the whole process winds you down.
In fact even if you're a neurotic weirdo during that day that can help a lot.

Try it, you'd be surprised. Did you know Hitler drank tea every evening in his study before bed? And he was a pretty successful guy.

You can eat a bit, make sure your room is cool (science claims between 60-67 F is ideal), have on a fan or some kind of white noise.
You can try melatonin or diphenhydramine (they can make you drag in the morning though).

There are some otc herbal options like ashwaghanda and valerian, those are more general anxiolytics. If you wanted to go more hardcore herbal there's kava, I believe it's a calcium channel blocker so it makes people's mouths go numb.

The heavy hitters are obviously benzos. Take enough and they will put you to sleep. They are very inadvisable though.

If I'm not quite there I turn my Flux (it's a program that reduces blue light) up to maximum so my screen is red, turn my screen brightness way down, and watch shit. I drank my tea now so it'll be sleep time soon.

Workout
Melatonin
Eye mask
ASMR video (search for unintentional asmr, not the dumb coomer shit)
White noise (a running fan etc)
COOM

Just lay there until I pass out. I find listening to music helps. Some people say quiet music, but I find that the distinction between loud and quiet isn't as important as the distinction between less dynamic range or more dynamic range. For instance, something can be "quiet" but if the vocals are really high in the mix or if the composition uses a lot of negative space or so on, it'll probably keep me up. Ideally, I want something that's pretty close to white noise, but still has a melody that I can focus on. Keeping my mind occupied like that stops it from wandering, which is the main thing that keeps me from falling asleep.

Try some white noise
Alternatively 5mg diazepam will usually do it however do not beholden yourself to the pharmacy jew

For the good nights some warm tea, for the bad nights some moose tranquilizer.
