I think it's a boat-tailed grackle. I have informed the cat there's a bird in here. The cat displays no interest.

I have informed both animals that there is a bird in here and this is a matter of urgency.

Neither of them seem to care. Why doesn't this bird just leave?
You're just a swell guy and things like being around you.

Good job, keep it up. When you get back home remember there is no shame in using aides for this if you feel yourself slipping. Gum, Zyn, patches etc. Cold Turkey niggas are crazy people.
Being able to breathe (somewhat) normally again is a great reward, let me tell you.
I already know the hardest part is going to be lunch breaks at work.
Its been a nearly perfectly consistent ritual of 'get to car, burn a ciggie, eat lunch, one more ciggy, then back to work' for years.

Its probably gay and cope but im trying to use the motivation of 'I want to be able to play and run around with our kids when we have them' to drive me.
Cause it sure ain't for me; I enjoy smoking lol, and my wife never badgers me about quitting, but I know it will drastically improve my quality of life and that of my family. And save a fuckin mint every month lol

My dog was excited by snow and jumped into my face so I've been walking around with a concussion.

THERE IS STILL A BIRD IN HERE!
It's his birdhouse now, you gotta leave sir.

Swan Lake was good, if soured a little bit by the circumstances.
My mother has severe arthritis in both of her hips, of which she has gotten surgery in her left hip mid 2025 and is awaiting news for the right hip, so she walks with the help of crutches.
She didn't consider that the venue that we had dinner at, and the venue that the ballet was at had an altitude change, she didn't consider that she might have to ascend a flight of stairs and that surely there'd be elevators close enough for her to comfortably walk.
Well, no, not exactly. We parked the car next to where we ate and she hadn't told me exactly where the ballet would be shown, so I also didn't consider the whole stair thing. We arrived in good time, had our dinner in a pleasant pace and left 30 minutes before the ballet started. The distance between the two venues would be possible to cross for regular ablebodied people in five minutes, ten if you're slow.
But because of this short walk, my mother was already a little frazzled. I had confessed to her that I'd slept like shit and could feel a ball of anxiety, so I was also a little frazzled. We arrived at the venue and I got in the queue to have our tickets checked. We got in without a hitch and went to find our seats.
Turns out the people planning these events had fucked up not just our seats, but several other guests' seats and I was afraid we'd have to get up. It takes a good five minutes to help my mother get into or out of her seat.
Thankfully, we didn't have to move except scoot one seat further down the row and the other guests were supplied with some additional chairs. All aisles appeared full.
Show starts and the chairs we're seated in are the kind you would expect at a school play, and not at a professional ballet troupe showing, hard plastic shells on frail metal legs. More to worry about for me, getting my mother seated. Plus we were packed kind of close and I had to clutch my mother's crutches through the whole 2.5 hour performance + break.
The people planning the venue seating also didn't take into consideration that for a ballet, you want your entire audience to be able to see the full body of the dancers, not just their top half. You kind of miss some of the choreography if there are multiple rows of people in varying sizes but the flooring is one plane.

Then we had to get back to the car, this time my mother was even more winded and I was afraid for a second I'd have to actually go get the car myself despite not having a license. Thankfully, we made it without much issue. But it just serves to help remind me for future events that I need to ask her if she's 100% aware of getting from A to B when we don't have a chauffeur.

Now I'm back home and a bit knackered, hopefully I can sleep without my bones complaining. I hate feeling old lol.

I am saying goodbye to my foster fail kitten who's under a year old this afternoon. He developed aggressive lymphoma in a matter of weeks that's all through his abdomen, and I didn't notice until he started losing weight recently. The sweetest, most loving cat I've ever had the privilege of being chosen by. Never bit or scratched or growled. I am absolutely devastated. He doesn't deserve this end, but I'm going to make sure he is pain free and drifts off. The last love I can give him. What a start to 2026. Fucking abysmal. Devastated. It hasn't been long since I said goodbye to my last kitty and that ripped my heart out. I'm glad he lived with me until the end.

My cat decided to cause chaos tonight. I was getting a game of "Find It" ready for the dog. Guess who decides to break into the one room she isn't allowed in while I'm busy? That stupid fucking bitch of a cat. What should have been a peaceful game turns into an hour of playing with the cat begging her to get away from my computer. This bitch was so determined to keep her dancing monkey going that she wouldn't leave the room for dinner. She just layed there waiting to see what I'd do next.

Anyway, got her out and am celebrating with whiskey.

teach her to play Find It with the dog. Problem solved. She was lonely!

Cats are chaos. If you have cats, you're just gonna have chaos.
Even her origin story is chaotic. She showed up one day after hitching a ride under someone's car. I knew that injured kitten would be trouble, but I took her in anyway. Stowing away in a car engine is, as it turns out, a bit of a red flag.

I instantly adore her. Thanks for adopting her. :heart-full:
