Watch it when you're older. Watching it as an uncle or an aunt changes the effect the movie has on you. Its weird but this is part of the strength of the film and how it gets under your skin.

The first Exorcist did scare me when I was like 8 or 9. Creepiest scene for me is when the priest goes to the nursing home/asylum where his mother is staying. It's very awkward and real. But I maintain that Exorcist 3 is the better of the two movies. It definitely helps that there haven't been a million parodies of part 3 too.

The fucking scary movie series man, even when it was...ok back in the beginning, it still killed off any hope of people taking the scenes in movies they parody seriously ever again.

but i have to agree 3 is waayyyy scarier with that opening alone, gave me chills 0-0. Still you gotta feel for William Peter Blatty. He originally wanted to call it just Legion and be only mildly related to the first film. but the studio thought calling it Exorcist III would sell better. Dumbass suits always thinking they know what's best.

Did anyone see that movie Hood of Horror that Snoop Dogg did?

Personally the first one has its moments but its a better drama than a horror film

3 might be one of the best films of the 90s

Edgelords of Salem was so fucking bad, I was so fucking pissed off after wasting my time with that piece of shit, I wanted to write to the company for a refund. And I had pirated that shit.

At the very least, I told myself, the next one was for sure gonna make up for how fucking terrible the first one was.

Then I started to watch this:

I actually like Only God Forgives. It’s just fun to watch, and is a neat sequel to Valhalla Rising. Refn’s main appeal is his sense of visual mood. Everything else is serviceable at best.
unpopular opinion time (again) but i just don't find the exorcist all that scary....HEAR Me out. I mean no disrespect to William Friedkien, max von siedow, Linda Blair, or William Peter Blatty. They all put their all into the movie and the film is still a well made masterpiece and a landmark of cinema. Up there with the hits of the 70s' like the godfather, apocalypse now, star wars, jaws, superman, rocky and so on.

When I saw it for the first time thought i wasn't seeing the same thing people saw back in 73. I've read about people fainted, vomited, suffered minor anxiety attacks while seeing the film back in the day and i was sitting there able to watch the whole thing just fine. It's still a well made, well acted movie with great effects and atmosphere, but scary?

Eh maybe its just me, I've seen so many horror movies for so many years they almost never frighten me, I enjoy them for the effects, the monsters, and the cinematography more than the scares.
Honest to God, the only scene that really spooked me was the Crab Walk scene, and even that wasn’t included in the original release. It’s still a good movie, just not particularly spooky. Much better to read it as a molestation story.

I always get that confused with Bones but I know the flick you're talking about is an anthology flick but I've never seen it. I know there's a scene where a guy falls on a Malt 40 and it's impaled through his head.

funny i always get hood of horror confused with tales from the hood. First one was decent really should have the wake up call the black folk need, the sequels were just more pretentious post trump era preaching. I'm honestly amazed the sequels didn't incorporate BLM into them given spike lee took over as a producer.

I would say Tales From the Hood is very good, 9/10 except for the first story which is kind of 'meh.' The first story is kind of weak, saved by gore and the gag they ripped off from DeadAlive where a guy pisses on a grave and has his dick ripped off by a zombie. The rest of the stories are fantastic.

The voodoo doll story was pretty accurate in how they depicted the dolls. My dad went to Haiti many times and brought back one of them as a souvenir and this was before the movie came out and it was a pretty accurate depiction.

Tales wasnt THAT good but the second segment was pretty damn great imo

Plus the third segment gave me the word 'niglets' and I giggle everytime I hear that word
To each his own of course. I'd rate Tales From the Hood as the 4th best anthology horror film. My top 3 is easily:

Creepshow
Tales from the Crypt
From A Whisper to a Scream AKA the Offspring

Honorable mentions to Creepshow 2 (just for the Raft segment and I like the animated bits) and Asylum.

I like this guy's shit.
yeah Andy's ok as far as internet personalities go, not a cow by any means hope it stays that way.

There's another guy whose shtick is wearing a werewolf mask and gives lots of modern day takes on horror. Wolfula? Wolfenstien? Despite the silly look, is he not as cringey? Guess not since you're recommending him.
yup wolfula, and also has a second channel called ghoulash where he does it as a zombie. like andy he's ok. Nice kid who seems really enthusiastic about the genre can be funny but also informative sometimes too. He even tracked down a few rare out of print young adult novel based on the halloween series and made a full aduiobook of the first one.

That scene was the thing that revealed to me that my mom has always had a fear that will happen to her in when she gets that age and I promise her I make sure it doesn't happen.

Yeah there both good and are clear fans of the horror genre unlike say Deadmeat. Another good one is found flix who does ending explain for horror movies.

About to watch The Empty Man, which has got some positive reviews. I'm looking for something to replace Sinister as my top horror flick of the past decade. Maybe this new release is that horror flick.

Kind of underwhelmed by Malignant halfway through. It's not... bad. It's just not anywhere near what I'd expect coming from the people who made it.

Nevermind it's fucking shit, that second half fucking bloooooows, the twist is retarded, at some point I was thinking 'i mean the only thing that would save that movie would be some kind of High Tension twist at the end, but nope, that's the way they went and the fucked it up so bad,

Fuck that movie, it's way too long, it's retarded, do not watch Malignant, avoid at all fucking cost, -3/5

Not a horror fan, but couple of horror films sticks on my memory: House on Haunted Hill (1999) and Mirrors (2008). The last is really creepy, for one who once had an irrational fear of mirrors, especially that scene with bathtub.

The Empty Man was OK. Certainly no horror classic. The opening sequence is easily the best part of the movie, with the forest chase sequence a close second. The film could have done with a heavy edit. At 2 hrs 16 mins it's much too long and would have been a tenser, more captivating experience if its running time was closer to 90 mins or even 80 mins. It's also a bit of a mishmash with elements inspired by movies like Candyman and any recent horror flick about a deranged religious cult. 6/10
