Not looking forward to the Reddit-speak reviews and postings I'll come across about this film that describes it as a "wholesome chungus" film about a "heckin' good doggo".

That was... I need to find out what happened now. I'm putting it on my list.I'm thinking of getting back into reading horror mags again.
Anyone here keep up with any of them and can vouch how far they've gone with the lefty shit? I know any horror magazine is going to have some of that but I just don't want it to be constant and annoying.
I was a big HorrorHound fan. Anybody know how that's going?
And let's be honest... there's no way this will never not be the greatest ending theme to a horror film.

Best goddamn decision you will EVER fuckin' make. That was... I need to find out what happened now. I'm putting it on my list.
The are several reviews of this movie out because it's been playing at film festivals, and they all say the dog does not die in the movie. So the dog dies. Way to spoil the movie. Any animal movie with heartbreaking as a description means the animal dies.
Yeah, I didn't closely at the channel. There is no official-official trailer for this movie yet. That trailer looks AI as fuck.
It's been 46 years since the first movie came out, and it's still the only truly excellent movie in the franchise. Everything since then has varied from "bungled" to "dumb shit." That trend certainly isn't going to change with Disney now owning the property.Maybe the Alien franchise is full of so much garbage it doesn't matter any more? Alien feels like Star wars to me. There's older stuff I like but the current stuff is so bad you don't even want to give it a nostalgia watch. I can live without seeing black queen slays Aliens the same way I can live without The Acolyte.
The first 3 Alien films are enjoyable. Even with all of 3's problems it still has it's moments. Everything after has been a mess and isn't worth watching. One of the AvP films was alright if I remember right? The series does better as a multimedia franchise than it does a movie franchise. It's been 46 years since the first movie came out, and it's still the only truly excellent movie in the franchise. I'm biased against Aliens due to it being the movie that turned the alien into just a big space bug. Other than that, it's a very well made movie. Alien 3 could've been a return to form, clearly inspired by the first movie, but Fox fucked it all up. The Assembly Cut gives a glimpse of what could have been, and is pretty enjoyable, but it's ultimately still not what Fincher wanted the movie to be. It at least made the alien scary again, unlike Cameron's space bug cannon fodder. The first 3 Alien films are enjoyable. Even with all of 3's problems it still has it's moments. Aliens franchise bigger problem is they refuse to explore the xenomorph as a creature. Aliens with it's drones being cannon fodder is fine when you have an unarmed crew struggling to deal with one. The queen was still threatening against armed humans. Then the next film brings us the dog (bull?) alien which is faster, more stream lined and added a new sense of speed over the normal drones. The tunnel scenes where it's all over the walls and flying along show it's much more dangerous than the generic drone type, who are used mostly as cannon fodder.I'm biased against Aliens due to it being the movie that turned the alien into just a big space bug. It would've been interesting to see all sorts of aliens that took on the DNA of their hosts. I think they could have leaned much more into the body horror aspect. A major theme of Giger's art is the warping of human flesh into something that feels oddly familiar but also distinctly alien. Resurrection had some of this, but didn't execute properly. Same deal with Prometheus and Covenant. From there the movies should have explored different animal xenomorphs and what they would bring to the table. What the fuck do you do against an elephant xenomorph? Bat Xenos? Gorillas? There is so much potential in the alien being based off of what it captures and none of them expand on it. With modern CGI making it cheaper you could have a Noah's arc ship with a face hugger on board, it escapes and makes more and now you have all these weird aliens. It writes it's self with horrific monsters like a snake alien with no limbs but a larger head and inner mouth. It's such a great concept and it's never touched on outside of toys and awful comics no one reads.
so does Humanoid Woman / Per Aspera Ad Astrahas the failed Ripley clones scene
I think we want different things from the franchise. I'm fine with Alien being a creature feature where every movie is another animal variant. The body horror stuff only really works once because it's a known quantity. There's ways to play with emotional elements like a man's dog becoming an alien and he still think it's his dog (and maybe it's loyal as he's growing one inside him too). Aliens took the xenomorph body horror to it's conclusion where living people were cocooned with a chest burster growing. It would've been interesting to see all sorts of aliens that took on the DNA of their hosts. I think Prometheus almost had the right idea for a sequel to the first movie. Have a team of frontiersmen land on a planet that turns out to be an old, abandoned outpost once used by the Space Jockey's race. The characters discover a large complex of ancient buildings, at least one of which contains either has eggs or a handful of fully grown aliens inside of it. Then figure out the rest of the plot from there. Throw in some DNA fuckery via Space Jockey technology that does horrific shit to the human body. It could've been great!
