ZO is still my goto suggestion for getting into Kamen Rider, basic, short, great sfx
but yeah Shin's not _bad_ just more normal ploddingish jp pace
does more than enough to make it worth a look

He directed some really cool (albeit also goofy) fantasy/sci-fi stuff in the '90s. His monster and character designs were cool too. He has a very recognizable style. Never watched any of that Garo show he's pretty much dedicated his life to since then. It looks like pretty standard sentai stuff.
 
So you guys psyched about House on Eden? It's like Blair Witch Project but written, directed, and starring TikTok influencers. And it's distributed by Shudder, so you know it's quality.

I took one for the team. It's almost impressive, because I'm pretty sure literally every single clip is lifted from some other found footage paranormal activity type movie. Except with worse and uglier actors. That fat Asian chick is hotter than she is talented.
 
I saw Tusk (2014) for the first time tonight. I think I liked it? It was completely retarded but I already knew it would be going in. Maybe it's because I just like body horror and the general weirdness.

Weapons for some reason caught a borderline autistic interest from me. I think I'm gonna see it in theaters. I got a nagging feeling something behind the mystery is gonna be dumb, but I'll give it a shot, Barbarian was pretty good. The website for Weapons has an easter egg referencing Barbarian and more mysterious videos, but not a full ARG which it seems like. But my dumbass went digging through that website looking for one so whoever is marketing this shit is doing a good job for a brand new horror movie.

Tusk was Kevin Smith's first watchable movie in ages because he just fucking went for it. When he accepts that he's just a stupid manchild pothead, he makes watchable shit. When he tries to actually be a "filmmaker," he crashes and burns. Tusk, Red State, Clerks 2... all extremely watchable. Clerks 3, Cop Out, Jersey Girl... war crimes.
 
Watched Found Footage: The Making of The Patterson Project. It's a waste of time. It's A movie that doesn't know what it wants to be or where to go. It could have done more but never does. The movie ended on a wet fart.
 
30 minutes into 28 yrs later and the zombies seem kinda slow, but only due to weird cuts to slow them down? It’s like they made them too fast, and then oh, there’s a chase in the woods.

Maybe it gets better? I mean it’s pretty good anyway.

I found it to be extremely dull. Might not be as painful as his unfunny comedy movies like Yoga Hosers, but that really doesn't mean much.
 
Watched Candyman (1992) again.

It still hits the spot. There was always something so haunting about this movie to me.

That final image in the credits sticks with me. Helen is such a tragic character. You watch her entire life be burned to the ground, get transformed into a terrible spirit, and she did nothing to deserve any of it. It's fucked up.

Good end credits but not for a good movie is the 95 made for Cinemax remake of Roger Corman's Piranha. It's a completely average movie but kind of fun in a Sunday afternoon flick kind of way. It also has a young Mila Kunis in it.


I just liked the end theme.

All the scenes of the Piranhas is reused from the original movie.
 
This is an odd one. But Clive Barker was working on a graphic novel called ZOOmbies which never came out, but was optioned to be a movie. Well, it randomly dropped this year under the name Night of the Zoopocalypse. I don't know how much involvement Clive Baker has had with the movie. Just funny his name is tied to a children's movie.

And the thing about somebody getting into your apartment from the bathroom mirror... That was the most bone chilling shit to me when I saw this as a kid.

That shit was actually true, too.
