I also watched Smile 2 a couple days ago and agree that it was a big step up from the first one; it is essentially a retread but has an overall better story and even more of a cruel ending.

That's "Awkwafina". She's in everything. No one knows why.but god damn the gook policewoman (that isn't even below average looking) sinks the film
Must have Zendaya's agent. That's "Awkwafina". She's in everything. No one knows why.
Arrival is great. I highly recommend Enemy.I haven't seen Arrival or anything else
I almost did, but then I didn't.Did anyone see Monkey? I haven't seen anyone review it that I trust (which is basically no one at this point). I mean I guess it doesn't matter since I'm probably going to go see it tomorrow anyway, but was just wondering.
I prefer Verbinski's remake too. Speaking of the color grading, I recently saw a YouTube video about how The Ring was filmed that was really interesting. Most horror movies in the aughts used aggressive digital color grading to achieve the look you're referencing. The Ring didn't.I like The Ring better. I miss the early 2000s' "everything is blue" look films used to do.
I don't get the love for the original Ringu.
Oh my god. Thank you all for not being fucking faggots.but yeah I do prefer The Ring (usa) over the commonly-attributed "original" Ringu, the pacing is better and things... what's the nice way to say this... happen in the USA one.
I haven't watched the video but thank you for that information. That's honestly really impressive looking back. The film looks great. Gore Verbinski really is underrated. I really think people were really way too hard on the Pirates trilogy at the time when I feel they were one of the last times Hollywood was really trying to make a big, unpretentious trilogy from scratch. Most horror movies in the aughts used aggressive digital color grading to achieve the look you're referencing. The Ring didn't.
it's a nice enough swat at Ring, still hits the same basic story beats, but it's way more skinamax style, really not better at "atmosphere" or things, mostly noteworthy as the footnote of "the earlier movie of the story" and "Sadako has stonking big tiddies"I haven't seen the original tv movie though so I might give it a try.
iirc that's in most filmed versions tooSadako was killed because she could have stared in Sleepaway Camp.
Okay that's fair.ACKSHUALLY afaik the Japanese movie was just called "Ring" in the original posters, trailers etc. "Ringu" is evidently something somebody came up with when it was released in the west, to distinguish it from the remake I would assume.
At least it's not RingoACKSHUALLY afaik the Japanese movie was just called "Ring" in the original posters, trailers etc. "Ringu" is evidently something somebody came up with when it was released in the west, to distinguish it from the remake I would assume.
