Sorry if I'm late on this one, I don't think I've seen it posted here already. Gotta say I'm mildly excited and hopeful, I've watched the trailer a couple times now and I love the way it feels and looks. Slight trepidation about whether or not Cage was the right choice for the villain but we'll see, could be good Skin-walker kino.

But let us turn our thoughts to lighter matters, like child murder. This looks like a fun book:

The boy getting his skull crushed in Toxic Avenger is a classic one, though supposedly (and I've seen this myself) people get more upset about the dog dying

The author is an amusing autist and weirdo. She's a local Austin horror scene chick that does a podcast and does stuff with the Drafthouse and other film labels. She tries to be edgy but is a hardcore feminist. No one wanted to publish the book, so she released it herself and did all of the reviews. I'm not surprised that she'd write a book like that lol funny that you mention the dog dying:

Killing a child or a dog just to be edgy is sad. There's plot reasons to off a dog and if you do it Italian style you can make Korean food after!!

I watched Puppet master 4 last night. It's a real return to form after 3 sucked so hard. Could have done with some more kills but I enjoyed all the puppet stuff. Six shooter is a real creepy little faggot and Jester needs more screen time but I can live with that. What annoyed me was the film was just starting to get good and I was looking forward to a big face off with the demon when...

Here's your Disney Princess, fuckers.

What are some good horror movies that don't start out as horror? For example, From dusk till dawn, The Loved Ones, The Invitation (2015). I remember specifically showing a friend the loved ones and he didn't understand why we we're watching some coming of age movie, then it kicked in.
Altered States would be a good one. It doesn't seem like a horror film, maybe a science drama but then it goes hard.

Jacob's Ladder is another one.

I think Eyes Wide Shut would count as well.

Santa Sangre is basically Jodorowsky making a horror film and by the 2nd hour it goes into horror territory.

I can't think of many horror movies that don't start out normal before the horror elements are added. Almost every slasher movie has a normal calm opening.
