Does it keep the surreal elements and voodoo/magic/psychic bullshit? Those concepts are interesting but most movies using them suck.
It is there. It goes for the schlock. The puppets kill people to harvest their brains. A concept that was dropped in the other movies.

I’m so happy about that ugly gockholsting Melissa Barrera getting kicked out of the Scream franchise to make more room for Neve. She was no doubt the worst part about the two recent entries (which were both pretty flawed to begin with) and I’m glad the bitch put her foot in her mouth and got ousted from what was supposed to serve as her stepping stone into the world of A-list stardom. Enjoy doing those no-budget indies.

real p-master fans don't count The Legacy, which totally violated the integrity of the series
I thought of watching it to get a taste of the series. I thought it would be a lot of great puppet kills and some bimbo pretending to act between them. Reviews say it's edited poorly and the clips used are often not the best. I'm glad I watched the first film on it's own terms.

I played the free game on Steam yesterday. It's very janky and doesn't feel very good to play but it has active lobbies. Running around as Torch setting humans on fire is pretty fun. Humans can beat a puppet 1 on 1 but 3 on 1 will overwhelm them according to the loading screens. There's a lot of rag dolling and waiting to open doors but it's worth messing around with to play as Torch.

It's really shit even for what it is. Best I can say is that you don't really appreciate how subconsciously invested you are in Puppet Master, as silly and nonsensical as it all is, until Legacy comes along and spits in your face. Full Moon has actually made some other "movies" cobbled together with existing clips, including the Puppet Master series... have not watched but still betting Puppet Master Legacy is still the worst somehow

Pro tip: just avoid modern Full Moon. In my mind, the company ceased making anything remotely worth a god damn around 2010.

Neve wasn't very good either. Jew politics aside Scream was always carried by it's extended cast who are all dead now. Randy, Dewy, Gale were the core Scream characters and Sid was just the final girl having to do the action scenes. The mutts were terrible and Scream doesn't serve a purpose in 2024 when meta commentary horror is the default horror now.

They've always been trashy.

In A Violent Nature.

I give this an 8 out of 10. Really loved it. It's a Friday the 13th movie as directed by Terrence Malick. That is exactly what it is. There's a few dry kills but the wet ones live up to hype. The deal breaker will probably be the ending which is one of those "That's it?" Kind of endings. I get what the director was doing but sometimes you have to please the audience or they turn on you like for example: Haute Tension.

Despite the last few years being shit, horror is thriving now. It reminds me of something Stuart Gordon said where horror was in decline in the 90's (which is true) but after 9/11 it suddenly roared in popularity and he theorized that it's society's way of coping with real life horror.

Puppet master 2 is Puppet master 1 but shitter. The cast sucks and none of them are memorable while the puppets are used a little better. Without the first's strong story the limitation of the puppets stands out more. Glad Leech is dead, hated that lame puppet. Torch puts on a grand show and he's easily the best puppet after Jester.

It is a very stupid film but it has moments. Like when Torch burns alive the kid whipping G.I. Joe's.

I forgot to mention this but fun fact: during the making of Friday the 13th part 7: the New Blood, it was originally supposed to be Freddy VS Jason but that didn't pan out. The studio decided to make it Jason versus Carrie as we all know however, one studio executive opposed this and wanted to make a classier horror movie and wanted to get (this is real) Stanley Fucking Kubrick to direct part 7.

In A Violent Nature is a peak into what that movie might have been.

I respectfully disagree - I think Sidney is one of the best final girls to grace the horror genre and always thought Neve Campbell was a very dynamic actress (especially in Scream 3 where she gets to showcase her range compared to the other sequels). I do agree that Chad and Mindy (if that’s who you’re referring to) were garbage and honestly consider Mindy the worst thing to happen to this franchise, thank god they’re gone.

Including those annoying Core Four characters, butchering Gale’s characterization and going all Groundhog Day with her in terms of her reverting back to her Scream 1 self for no reason, and the egregious decision to make Kirby some retarded wannabe Jodie Foster in SOTL esque FBI agent who enjoys the woke Candyman remake were the worst sins of the Radio Silence movies. I’m nervous about one of the writers for them coming back for 7 but I’m hopeful that Kevin will make it good given that this series always shined when it had a faggot behind it.

Main stream horrors been sit since DEI has decided every horror film has to be about black people or single mothers where nothing happens. Horrors shifted towards an indie scene (how it used to be in many ways) with analog horror and gaming horror really picking up the slack. It's hard to say horrors been in a slump since the internet ran with it.

Yeah, between this and the Terrifier movies it seems the ultra-violent slasher has returned from the ashes.

The Primevals drops soon, sounds potentially cool actually.

Stop motion FX wizard David Allen's long-planned passion project was shelved in the 1990's after Allen passed away from cancer. Finally completed in 2023 by Full Moon and former Allen associate Chris Endicott, THE PRIMEVALS is the ultimate retro-fantasy adventure, employing a wild array of arresting, 100% hand-rendered, stop-motion special effects and a rich orchestral score from composer Richard Band.

She has no range. She's bland as cardboard. The killers and the secondary cast steal every film she's in because she she does the cunty slightly anti social character through the whole franchise and everyone worships the ground she walks on. Ghost face is probably trying to kill her because she's loved more than Snow White and Cinderella combined in the next one.

If scream was still self aware it would have made jokes about bring back old cast members just to die. Now it does it intentionally so they can say Luke Skywalkers in this one! Destroy their character and then put a knife in them doing something they learned not to do in previous movies.

I have no stake in this since I don't like the Scream movies but I think 1 and 4 are decent but Sidney is the least interesting character. Think of all the memorable quotes from the series and how many of them are attributed to Sidney?
