Watched Lamb (2021) last night. First off, not a horror movie, not even an A24 horror movie (almost a parody of an A24 horror movie). It's still
almost worth watching. It's slow, but it doesn't really
seem all that slow. I guess cause there's enough scenery, camera movement and stuff going on in the scenes where nothing is really happening (I mean it's mostly just like farming stuff or Icleand stuff, but it's interesting enough to make you (or at least me) not get bored for a scene) that it doesn't bog down.
I honestly can't decide if this movie is trying to be depressing and utterly failing, or if it's just trying to fuck with your mood, OR if it's just some weird Icelandic/Scandinavian mood thing that I just don't get. If it was done intentionally, it's a damn masterstroke (although somewhat wasted on kind of a tame and lame movie). If unintentionally, I hope he does more, because while I don't really think it's a good movie, and don't need to watch it again or show it to any friends, I'm kind of glad I watched it. I wouldn't really call it uplifting, but I, at least, was happy at the end of it.
No gore, Noomi Rapace's tits are in it, but they are an acquired taste, I guess. She's battling Florence Pugh for weirdest Hollywood titties, although, to be fair, she's two decades older. Sorry for the tit sperging, but I guess it did add to the off-kilterness of the movie.
Like if this was edited down to 45 minutes, it'd be the best episode of whatever horror anthology series you choose, but as a movie it just doesn't quite cut it, and certainly not as a horror movie. That being said, it's still better than like the last 2-3 actual horror movies I've seen (granted, they were utter shit).
