I don't think I'm making it to 31 but ima number them anyway

Wife and I started it with Battle Royale. She had never seen it and I was hyping it as "Banned in the US when I was a kid.".

Fortunately she loved it so I won't have to leave her. I forgot how good it was too since I haven't seen it in awhile.

speaking of which

1) The Great Yokai War (2005) - Maybe everybody else already knew Takashi Miike did a big (in Japan) budget children's fantasy film with the Battle Royale/Kill Bill girl and a lot of upskirt shots but it was news to me. It's like live action anime and I mostly didn't understand what the hell was going on. My knowledge of yokai is limited but I recognized a few common video game monsters.

2) Fall of the House of Usher (1928 ) - Actually there are two 1928 Fall of the House of Usher movies and I watched both. The American one is a short film that looks a lot like Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and will make no sense to anybody who doesn't already know the plot. The French one is about an hour and is easier to follow, but it doesn't follow the plot of the story too closely. Poe's not very cinematic but filmmakers have spent 100 years adapting his stories and making stuff up to fill in the blanks.

Nice! Tried to suggest that movie to a few friends of mine since they liked Squid Game but they immediately shot it down because they thought it was too weeby.

Meanwhile I’m like… “B-but Gogo from Kill Bill is in it!” Still weren’t very convinced.

Have you read the book?

No, it was actually Truth or Dare (2018):

The only good thing about Smiley is that it was #1 at the box office, it's R rated instead of PG-13 crap, and it demolished that POS film Bros.

I may have zero interest in Smiley but I'm glad it exists and has prevented a POS like this or Woman King to get the top spot by default.
So what your saying is Smiley is the hero we need, but don't deserve.

It's like when the 7th Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie (Texas Chainsaw 3D) dethroned The Hobbit at the top spot. Or Friday the 13th Part 3 interrupted E.T.'s reign at the box office back in the day or the 2004 Dawn of the Dead finally ending Passion of the Christ's domination of the #1 spot.

Still I'm happy to hear that it beat two woke movies

On a scale of boring shit to mildly enjoyable shit, how bad is the new Halloween rebootsequelremake finale gonna be?

Somewhere in-between Halloween 2018 and Kills I think, because it can't get much worse than Kills... surely?

All I know is I'm ready for this franchise to die. The first one, classic, which unfortunately spawned 44 years of mediocrity. Overstaying its welcome is an understatement.

are there copies of the non-directors cut online? I recall the director's cut added some random odds and ends of them having lives and maybe the part of the GANBARE suicide? but I def recall seeing the regular cut and the directors as both were new and feeling like the regular cut had better pacing, like Aliens

I finally got around to watching House of 1000 Corpses to start this spooky season off right… Personally, I like it. Thought it was pretty demented in a funny way but then again, I like Rob Zombie anyway.

Currently watching Little Shops of Horrors atm.
I was disappointed it wasn't literally a thousand corpses.

In a perfect world, Halloween 3 was a mega hit and launched the franchise as an anthology series.

I don't know, probably. We watched the Director's Cut in 1080p, it was nice.

"Well, this new Halloween movie really sucked, but at least they won't be making any more of them. They killed off Michael Myers for good, Donald Pleasance has been dead irl for years, and JLC is getting a little old for this kind of thing." - average person after seeing Halloween H20 in 1998

It depresses me very much to realize that was 24 years ago.

I watched The Mist (2007) the other day and I quite liked it except for one part. Despite the rant in the spolier I would recommend the movie since outside of one part its a solid horror movie.
So the ending was kinda hot garbage. The entire rest of the movie was really enjoyable with a great understanding of creating and maintaining tension with both the monster and human horror. The final scene of our main characters driving slowly through the mist, seeing the insurmountable size of just some of the creatures really solidifies that even if there was hope, would it truly be able to beat a whole other dimension of deadly creatures? So when the end of the line comes our characters do the natural thing and decided to shoot themselves rather than get torn in half and eaten. But with five people and only four bullet our true main character is left alone, ready to face what ever horror lies in the endless mist. But instead of maybe a hint at even worse horrors of maybe very vague hope we get some real stupid stuff. First the army rolls in with tanks and masked soldiers, then for some unkown reason the mist just fully clears and we see OPEN TOP transport vehicles with dozens of survivors including a women who ran straight into the fog at the beginning of the movie. Why she didn't get instakilled when Literally every other person who just blindly went out into the fog did is beyond me. And why they would even try saving civilians when some of the monsters could plant eggs and infections in people is also beyond me. It just kills me because if our main characters had waited all of 5 fucking minutes before shooting themselves they would have been saved by the army and the fog would have cleared. Honestly the fix would have been so easy too, just end the movie at the shot of the tank rolling through the fog towards our last character. Would they have been saved? Was that a rogue solider who managed to survive? Were the monsters more intelligent than previously thought and are now tricking people? Better questions to ask at the end of a horror movie than left thinking that if you're trapped in a deadly fog full of monsters, just wait 5 minutes and maybe a deus ex machina army patrol will magically clear the interdimensional weather for you.

I remember seeing The Mist in theaters with a group of friends and they all had the same reaction. Honestly I kind of liked that part though.
The religious fanatic, Mrs. Carmody, is proven to have been right all along even though she seemed like a nutcase. Everyone who acts in opposition to her ends up getting killed, but meanwhile the monsters leave her alone. Then at the end, she is vindicated about needing to sacrifice Thomas Jane's son because as soon as the kid gets shot to death, the mist goes away. Obviously there are some pretty big plot holes, like what the hell the army was doing the whole time, but I respect the sheer meanness of having that ending in a mainstream movie.

the ending is literally the best part of the movie

This was a lot creepier when I was a little kid, but it's still fun to watch. It's like a full length Unsolved Mysteries re-enactment.

I found the ending to the Mist to be comical to me, they just over did it to the point it was no longer grim but just funny.

Just watched Jeepers Creepers: Reborn, bad movie but not much of note to talk about outside how bad the green screen in that movie is. Even cop cars on a woody road is green screened in.

Who knew the one with out the pedo involved would be the most crappy one of them all.
