I'd say it's different, simply because of the fact that everyone that year knew it about. It was 'that movie with the rape scene in it'. It made a fuck ton of noise at the time. Yeah sure nowadays it's definitely more obscure, but it's been like 20 years since it was out. When it did come out, few movies got as much coverage. That definitely qualifies it as 'mainstream' to me.
I'll agree to disagree, yes it was controversial and people talked about it, but it wasn't house hold name stuff, just something you heard about in film buff circles and the occasional newspaper

woah a man who reviews movies couldn't stop talking about a movie? it musta been the most important movie to ever movie.

I kinda wish we could restrict users posting in threads based on when they joined. Though we'd need to make an exception for @Oats12345

dude you're like the anime girl streamer who once accidentally did a face reveal then everyone saw he was a pudgy dude with a bowl haircut behind the account, then tried to save it by streaming some more

just... let it go.

That is some projection, sir. Shouldn't you be in the Prey thread threatening to rassle people who didn't think it was better than Predator 2?

new fag here lemme lay it on you.

old fags are supposed to band together not tear each other down. both of you grow up.

today @Ebonic Tutor showed us Phenomena (1985) and it got a little silly towards the end with the explosions. The part i found interesting was that the sound track was nothing but fantastic but not a single song fit what was happening on the screen.

Hulu’s ‘Hellraiser’ Movie Rated “R” for “Strong Bloody Violence” and “Graphic Nudity”!

Pinhead and his Cenobites are plotting a big return, with two brand new Hellraiser projects in the works. First up is a new movie for Hulu, which has received its “R” rating this week.

David Bruckner (The Night House), who helmed Netflix’s The Ritual as well as sections of Bloody Disgusting’s horror anthologies V/H/S and Southbound, is directing the relaunch of the Hellraiser franchise for Spyglass Media, set to be a Hulu feature film written by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski (SiREN, Super Dark Times, The Night House).

“Sense8” actress Jamie Clayton is playing the Hell Priest in the new movie.

Hulu’s Hellraiser has been rated “R” for some very Hellraiser Things, including…

“Strong bloody horror violence and gore, language throughout, some sexual content, and brief graphic nudity.”
We don’t yet have a date, but Hellraiser will debut as a Hulu Original. Stay tuned.

The project is being described as a “loyal, yet evolved re-imagining of Clive Barker’s 1987 horror classic,” and the best possible news is that Clive Barker is on board as a producer.

Additionally, a “Hellraiser” television series is in the works at HBO. Last we heard, David Gordon Green (Halloween, Halloween Kills) is directing the pilot and “several more initial episodes” of the HBO series, and Michael Dougherty (Trick ‘r Treat, Krampus, Godzilla: King of the Monsters) is writing alongside Mark Verheiden (“Battlestar Galactica”).

Clive Barker will be executive producing that Hellraiser project as well.

Next ‘Saw’ Movie Set for Halloween 2023 Release With Kevin Greutert Directing! [Exclusive]

Darren Bousman’s rebootSpiral: From the Book of Saw pulled in $40 million worldwide last year, reviving the franchise and paving the way for more sequels. Another brand new Saw movie is indeed in the works, with Bloody Disgusting exclusively learning that Kevin Greutert will be directing the next installment. And it’s set for release on October 27, 2023!

Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures re-team for the next installment of the billion-dollar franchise.

The untitled film will be the TENTH installment in the Saw franchise.

Like Bousman, Kevin Greutert is no stranger to the Saw franchise. Greutert directed both Saw VI in 2009 and later Saw: The Final Chapter in 2010, along with the horror movies Jessabelle in 2014 and Jackals more recently in 2017. He also edited Saw I through V and Jigsaw.

While Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures are keeping the plot and characters under wraps at this time, we’re told fans can be assured that the new film will capture their hearts – and other body parts – with all-new twisted, ingenious traps and a new mystery to solve.

Franchise producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules said, “We have been listening to what the fans have been asking for and are hard at work planning a movie that Saw aficionados and horror fans alike will love. And part of that is giving the reins to Kevin Greutert, director of Saw VI, which is still one of the fans’ favorites in the entire series.

“More details will be revealed soon.”

Stay tuned for more on Saw 10 as we learn it.

I'm late to quote this but.... I dunno about this one here. Maybe Saw X will return to its roots from one of its previous entries Jigsaw. But any rate, at least I'm glad it's eyeing a Halloween release again.

Saw needs a good refresh. They need to drop the cops story line and do what Saw 3d teased with in public traps or least change it up environmentally rather than another run down building.

Hell if they want people to talk, why not make the targets corrupt politicians with the game broadcast to the public to view. Hell make the game where left and ring wing politicians have to play against each other to see who wins. That is sure to cause a shit storm in the news.

There's literally a horror movie idea about just that and it was The Purge, and even then these movies were kinda more entertaining than the pointless police stories used in Jigsaw or Spiral.

forgot about the purge movies, not a fan of them but second and third were better than they had any right to be after the first one.

I'd say the first Purge is the equivalent to the first Final Destination movie, where the first entries in the respective franchises aren't as good as the sequels. The Purge was mediocre, yet the second and third movie are really good, and the same applies with Final Destination.

Fuck it, why can't we have a Final Destination, The Purge and Saw crossover?
