Watched another Full Moon flick.

The Creeps. (1997)

Dracula, Frankenstein, the Werewolf, and The Mummy are brought to life from the pages of literature, but as midgets, and the want to get back to full size.

I guess this was more enjoyable than the last ones I watched, because it leans into the camp more, but it's still pretty dumb.

I do gotta say, Phil Fondacaro is actually really good as Dracula. He's hands down the best thing in the movie. He plays it 100% straight, and it works.

Freud was addicted to cocaine too.
Yeah, I know, he was pretty cool

Still no idea what the FUCK enemy was about. Even after a explained on it, I still can't wrap my head around it. But Prisoners was really good.

Enemy is about a race of giant spiders who take over the world and can disguise themselves like they are people, everyone lives in a totalitarian state but they are too afraid to address it or don't even realize what's going on and go along to go along.

I did like it a bit more than Halloween Kills since the movie is more aware that it’s a dumb slasher and isn’t trying to give some preachy message like it was a groundbreaking movie.
I would have liked it a hell of a lot more if half the cast could act. The main girl had no charisma, half the new cast sucked, and most of them were playing one-dimensional characters I didn't give a shit about.

Having the villains be obsessed fans trying to murder their way to a better sequel wasn't too bad, but it gave me a feeling that they were targeting the 'alt-right fanboys' who didn't like The Last Jedi. Also having the two black characters survive, especially when one was gay, felt like pandering - as did the fact that all the new women were latina/arabic. Which wouldn't have been a problem at all if they were any good. I only liked the younger sister and the white guys, and the other killer when she started going batshit - the other four were bad.

I did really like that they kept their promise and Kirby from 4 (Hayden Panettiere) survived - she was a YouTube thumbnail when the boyfriend was watching the Stab 8 review. It seems like Sidney is still with Patrick Dempsey from 3. Also, sadly, the trailer showed Sid and Gale when they arrived at the house, meaning I picked that Dewey was going to die to give Sidney a reason to turn up.

Basically, one of the things that really helped the previous films was good/lucky casting, even in the small roles - and that just wasn't there this time. I rewatched the first four before seeing the new one, and while it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, the acting really let it down.

I suspect it was intentional to have both Cuba Gooding Jnr's son and Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid's son in a film about 'the remaining family members'. But I still don't know why they wouldn't call it Scream 5. Calling it 'Scream' emphasises how it doesn't hold a candle to the first one, even though it's decent.

Personally I didn’t feel the vibe that the killers were portrayed similarly to people who hate the last Jedi, only because of the fact that the last movie was hated by everyone in-universe only because a thing with last Jedi discourse is that it happens due to pretentious nerds who act like it’s a deep film. The killers motive was really just generic psycho fanboys but they were executed better than I expected since they were fun to watch. Though I do agree that the acting is pretty bad at times especially for the main character, along with the black jock and his girlfriend.

As for why it’s called just Scream, it’s pretty much addressed in movie that it’s pretty much mocking soft reboots that somewhat rehash the plot of the first movie in the series while also being a sequel.

Honestly I thought it was about Jake Gyllenhaal was the actor but he got into an accident, then he got amnesia so he became the history teacher? But when the co-worker recommended that movie and history!Jake went on a movie binge, it was his way of trying to regain his memories of his actor!self, until he has some kinda mental break where he can't tell what's real hence why he see's two of himself??? Something about he can't be faithful/he hates the idea of it as well??? Not gonna lie I'll happily take the spider theory over whatever the fuck I tried to think of.

Gonna go through Full Moon's "Killjoy" franchise.

I watched the first one, KillJoy. (2000)

Not good, but not without it's charms, I suppose. It's an "urban" horror movie, meaning an all black cast, and set in the hood.

A good thing about these Full Moon movies is they are usually mercifully short. This one was only an hour and eleven minutes.

I had an idea of how they could actually really change up the films if they wanted to. Instead of Dewey getting killed in the hospital, have them capture Amber (who it must have been at that point). She's either in prison or the hospital, but she gets to play mind games with everyone about who her partner is, or if she even has a partner, while stuff can be happening as Richie tries to complete his plan without blowing his cover. Both of them would be creating chaos, mostly psychologically, and you could pull more shenanigans on the remaining characters that way. You can still get Sidney back with Amber saying she'd only talk to her in person or having some lie that would be designed to drag her back. You can still have the climax at Stu's house by having her escape, with or without Richie's help, can still kill off Dewey there, but it would ratchet up the tension, give the characters more time to be scared rather than just smug assholes not taking their potential deaths seriously, and truly be something new in having one of the killers unmasked halfway through, rather than waiting for the third act reveal - and makes the good guys seem smarter too.

I mostly thought of that because Scream 4 shows us how Stab 6 and 7 begin, and Stab 6 shows us two Ghostfaces while Stab 7 shows Kristen Bell murdering Anna Paquin, so the films-within-the-film clearly aren't as concerned with keeping the number of killers, or even their identity (remember, in Scream 2, Tori Spelling says her boyfriend is the killer) a secret.

Either that, or instead of ushering the random extras out of the party, start killing them all. A mass slaughter? Definitely one-ups the previous films if a bunch of nameless extras start getting it from a Ghostface or two suddenly causing mayhem.

I just had time while not caring about the plight of the new lead girl to think of ways in which the film could actually change things up, unexpectedly.

it's either a movie about giant spiders taking over, or a man who is afraid of women/femininity and this is him acting out his misogyny

Killjoy 2: Deliverance from Evil. (2002)

This sure took it's sweet-ass time getting to the goods. It takes 31 minutes until Killjoy is even mentioned, and it takes 38 minutes for him to actually appear, and this is an 1:12 minute movie.

It was largely boring. Even when Killjoy does appear, he just stalks people in the woods like a half-assed Friday the 13th. The first movie felt more ambitious than this.

I did like The Creeps, especially compared to other late 90s (and beyond) FM output. I almost always enjoy boomers doing heartfelt tributes to the old Universal movies. They inspire real affection. And I like that blurb in the corner of the cover. Touting a bunch of advertising as an amazing special feature is classic Band.

Killjoy... I want to say I tried to watch the first one at some point. If so, I didn't make it too far in.

I watched Full Moon's Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-a-rama for the first time recently. The name always kept me away. Nothing against cheesy titles or sorority babes, but there's a point where it's like they're trying to declare upfront that if you expect anything at all, you're expecting way too much. It's got nothing on e.g. Killer Klowns from Outer Space, other than more nudity, but it was alright.

Killjoy is also played by a different actor in 2, and this same actor plays the role for the rest of the series.

I hope he gets better, because between these first two movies, I liked the actor from the first movie better.

Killjoy 3. (2010)

Going in a new direction with this one. It's more comedic than the first two, especially as it goes along. There's some worldbuilding as well.

Killjoy creates 3 clown minions, who I guess stick around for the next sequels.

It seems to have dropped the whole urban thing. The main characters in this are three white college students, and one token black guy.

I found it funny that the black guy is said to be the most badass player on the football team, because the dude is fucking obese. I can't imagine him engaging in a lot of strenuous physical activity.

I sat down after work and decided to watch a random movie on Tubi because I liked the description: We Are the Flesh. It was... not what I expected.

I won't discuss specifics (can you even spoil a movie like this?), but ultimately I was kind of bored by it. It looks absolutely beautiful (kind of like a Nicolas Winding-Refn film), has a hot chick naked in it a lot, has unsimulated sex scenes that kind of shocked me. It's watchable and interesting at first. But the whole thing is so surreal (and I love surrealism generally) and felt so disconnected that I kind of gave up trying to follow it and kept watching without much investment. The ending was confusing and kind of annoying.

The movie is another one that's beyond concepts of "good" and "bad." It's what the director wanted it to be, which is a fevered nightmare. I liked a lot of things about it, but I wasn't as shocked as I think the director wanted me to be. Very little of it is frightening, despite the film being billed as a disturbing horror film.

Maybe the internet has desensitized me to far too much, I don't know. Wouldn't recommend unless you're a cinema sex pervert like Jay Bauman.

That one started out well enough but then devolved and made no sense. It treads that line where you wonder if it was just an excuse for the director to live out their incest fantasy.

Killjoy Goes To Hell. (2012)

In this one Killjoy is in Hell, stripped of his powers, and put on trial for incompetence due to his failure in the last movie, while his clown minions try to put a plan together to free him.

This one is pure comedy, with all pretense of horror gone.

This is my favorite in the series so far. It's dumb schlock, but it's pretty fun. It seems like it would have been a lot of fun to make.

I really appreciated that it tried something different, instead of just another story of Killjoy trying to kill a bunch of teens.

I really liked Killjoy as a character in this. He's like a fully formed character now, instead of just a generic evil clown.

Killjoy's Psycho Circus. (2016)

Killjoy and his friends are now living on Earth, with Killjoy hosting his own late-night talk show, but Satan comes back for revenge against him, and there's big space ship battles.

I didn't like this as much as the last one, but it's not too bad.

It's interesting how far away the series strayed from the original premise. It's like the Fast and Furious movies, and Saint's Row.

This is the last Killjoy movie to date. There is something called Bunker of Blood 07: Killjoys Carnage Caravan, but I guess it's just a clipshow, so the hell with that.

Watching these wasn't as painful as I thought it would be. the second movie was the only one I really hated.

I know Killjoy makes a cameo in one of the evil bong and Genderdead man crossover movies. Which I know because I watch all of them one time when I was bored.
