It blew my mind a little bit to learn that there was a Scream TV series that ran for three seasons. I guess I don't need to ask how that turned out?

Also, not calling Scream 5 "5cream" makes it a HARD PASS for me. Scre4m got it right, how did they drop the ball so hard? Hopefully gets fixed for Scr6am.

I saw the 1st episode and they decided to go with a TV-14 rating unlike every other horror show that went TV-MA. So, the gore is pretty minimal. It also has nothing to do with the Scream movies and creates their own terrible lore. There's also a different mask for the first 2 seasons and then they went back to the classic Ghostface mask for season 3.

It's pretty bad. That and the 80's slasher season for American Horror Story were god awful. I think a slasher TV show could work but they keep fucking it up.

Cold Prey 1 & 2 are great Norwegian slasher films. The second is a direct sequel to the first, picking up immediately where the first leaves off. There's a third, a prequel to the first, but I remember it sucking.

Speaking of foreign films, Mientras duermes and The Vanishing are also excellent, though they're probably more psychological thrillers than proper horror films.

at this point I think stupid number in the name shit is basically retro?

‘Spider-Man’ Director Jon Watts to Produce ‘Final Destination’ Relaunch for New Line, HBO Max

Always felt like a series with miss potential. Outside the 4th one which is awful, I found the rest to just be fine but not stand out in any way.
I don't know, I think the 5th was definitely a standout. 1st one was fresh as fuck when it came out, too.

The first Final Destination was pretty good. The first act had this fantastic grim tone until the elaborate deaths kicked in. The sequels just went for the gore and that's fine. I applaud that just because it signaled the end of the god damn pussy whipped PG-13 horror films and remakes of Jap ghost movies.

I think recycling the name of the first movie is now officially a tired meme, since by all accounts Scream '22 isn't even the customary sequel-disguised-as-reboot, it's just plain ol' Scream 5.

So, what have we got left for potential meme titles...

Screams?
The Scream?
Ghostface?

I saw the new Scream and it was a fine movie. I really watched it just cause I wanted to watch a dumb slasher movie and I got what I wanted.

I did like it a bit more than Halloween Kills since the movie is more aware that it’s a dumb slasher and isn’t trying to give some preachy message like it was a groundbreaking movie. It also didn’t have every returning character live in the same town which was neat. The kills however were less fun than Kills.

I did like that the killers were essentially dumbass redditors who wanted to clout chase only because I can honestly see redditors being the type of faggots that would try to do something like that given how pathetic any copycat is. Honestly the only things I really don’t like about the movie were the Ghost Billy scenes and some moments where it did feel like the killer could’ve been beaten earlier.

Watched some old Full Moon movies.

Seedpeople.
Shadowzone.
Arcade.

They weren't very good. I'd give all of them a 4 out of 10.

Par for the course for Charles Band. It's kind of nutty how many people don't know that Band owned Empire Pictures that made Reanimator and From Beyond and Band's ownership of Wizard Video. The DNA of Fullmoon courses through those projects especially the straight to video garbage released by Wizard Video like Headless Eyes.

Fucking Censor sucks man. Jordan Peele levels of message bating. I was expecting Rod Serling to come out of the woods to say "the censorers are the real murderers." Shame because it looked visually great, spoiled by bad writing.

This movie is cope porn for how violent England is getting. "Well the past was worse because THATCHER and Mary Whitehouse."

I still have a soft spot for Full Moon, because I liked the Puppet Master and Demonic Toys movies when I was a kid. I haven't seen too much Full Moon beyond those. I'm trying to watch more of them now.

Castle Freak was probably the very best Full Moon movie I've seen. I also liked the Pit and the Pendulum.

First off, nigga, sometimes a cigar is just a fucking cigar you don't need to see shit in movies deeper than you need to

Like I literally did not see any of that shit when I watched the movie, it was just about some batshit crazy woman exposed to shit she didn't like

Fuck if anything you could make a case easily that it's a religiously-themed movie about temptation and corruption.

I mean
now it's time for you to feel the turkish delight deep in you

I'm 1 of the retards who saw AHS 1984.
It had potential and your right it got fucked up real fast. I have plenty to say about AHS but i'll save it for another time. 1984 I think if Ryan cut that season short,or stretched it out longer in the first half it could've worked? After the 100th episode special, it really went down hill with the ghosts and antichrist shit. Which is a shame cause John Carroll Lynch is a pretty good actor and they kinda squandered him. 1984 would've worked better in the AHS shorts they did in 2021 like with red tide and death valley, but I mean it was kinda funny to a degree. Ahs is pretty much shit, we all know it, but we watch it cause we have nothing better to do.

Speaking of movies, do thrillers count for the thread??
I recently saw Prisoners 2013 and enemy.
Still no idea what the FUCK enemy was about. Even after a explained on it, I still can't wrap my head around it. But Prisoners was really good.

It starts off a little slow, but it's not long until they pick up the pace and the tension gets REALLY thick and doesn't stop for 2 and a half whole ass hours. The ending scene with the whistle I still think about that shit man.

Freud was addicted to cocaine too.

It started off alright but just completely fell apart by episode 3 or 4. It's obvious that the makers don't give a fuck and just made shit up as they went along. There were still moments and gore that I liked in those early episodes of the season. I was on board with the wedding massacre while Billy Idol's White Wedding played, sure, okay, cool imagery. But it shit the bed with the whole "No wait, that's not the killer this person is! Oh wait, that person isn't the killer either, this family member of some asshole is the real killer! BUT OH WAIT IT"S ALL SUPERNATURAL BULLSHIT!" Fuck you.

I need to see Enemy but I did see Prisoners which was pretty good.

I know a lot of it was tropes n haha shit but legit wish we got more of a back story on Xavier and Chet? Everyone got some kinda full fledge back story and then "oh yea Chet...Xavier...huh." Which I find strange since at the time Cody Fern (Xavier in 1984, and Michael Langdon the antichrist in apocalypse) was more or less Ryan Murphy's boytoy/front running male since Evan Peter's went on haitus for a season so I would've thought he would've had more to do or would've gotten more backstory.
I think my biggest gripes were how inconsistent the ghost rules are in AHS. We should've had ANOTHER anti-christ in the making due to Brooke fucking that one guy.
If I had to figure out how to keep 1984 from going down the shitter (not at all a perfect idea at all tbh)
- up the runtime to the usual 45ish minutes instead of the 32ish minutes in an hour slot Ryan was going. The fact the initial opening episode was UNDER an hour long was an eyeroll, or give it a few episodes like the short series but long episodes.
- Keep pretty much the first half. Intro the people, give some clues, keep the wedding scene, all that shit.
- Everything takes place at night for the most part.
- Brooke can still be the finale girl
- No antichrist or ghost shenanigan's
- Remember the episode where everyone was hiding going "what the FUCK how we get out out of here" more of that, but instead of "OH SO N SO WAS A MURDERER TOO", maybe some people get pushed far into a corner due to distress and all of the shit going on, thats what pushes some people over the edge to murder?

Telling you right now, Enemy is one of those you need to really focus in on it kind of movies. I might give it another shot since the first time I watched it I wasn't in the best mental space, thank god it's short clocking in at an hour and 30 minutes. Of course, Jake Gyllenhaal gives it his all, which is pretty interesting since he plays two different people.

In the VHS days they made some good honest crap and some not-so-good honest crap. Sometimes they'd rope in a decent actor before they hit the big time: Helen Hunt for Trancers, Jackie Earle Haley for Dollman, Demi Moore for Parasite. I don't think they've made anything that could rightly qualify as watchable since Head of the Family in the 1990s, but Charles Band is still at it, sort of.
