WTF? It's REAL?????????????????????

I've seen the Alien trilogy a hundred times a piece and never noticed.

sorry for the late reply but yeah apparently it is. And ever since it's caught on to meme status, troons all over the web have been taking it as gospel for their "trans representation matters!" bs. I have to wonder if the guys who made that text only did so to troll James Cameron and he never caught on, nor did they realize the repercussions of their actions so many years later.

Well on a lighter note found this cut opening from Halloween ressurection's opening

It's kinda wish the stuff like this had been left in from the workprint version of the film. Apparently it would have filled in a few plot holes the final cut has, and is meant to replace what backstory regarding Michael's childhood got lost with the timeline reset from Halloween 6 to H20 also, does anyone know that song? video description doesn't say what it is and comments are turned off is it even a real song or was it something they wrote for the movie?

EDIT it's apparently Johnny angel by...the carpenters?...heh cute i get it, but yeah the audio is so distorted it actually took me a couple listens to get the lyrics and looking up "you're an angel to me" didn't help much.

I can imagine the Weinstein's cut that opening because they think dumb audience is dumb and wouldn't "get" that that's young Myers.

It's a shame we never got an in depth look into Michael's childhood in the OG timelines , I know Johh Carpenter intentionally left if vague and ambiguous on purpose but the closest we got was the rob zombie films five years later.

But seeing what looks like an idealic 50s/60s American family with that one quiet kid who looks like something's wrong but you can never tell what it is, that in the right hands could make for an interesting concept...and yes I'm, aware some comics printed before Rob's Halloween but after 8 which tried to tie all the timelines back together did do something like that via flashbacks, but i mean we never got an actual on screen look into how a typical boy of the 50's/60's became the homicidal maniac we know and love even to this day.

The Halloween novels of the time go into it.

This month has been crazy busy for me, so I haven't been able to watch nearly as many Halloween/horror movies this month as I would have liked, but oh well. My husband and I finally got started this weekend. I was going to get my husband to finally watch Ash vs The Evil Dead this month, but ah well ... We'll check it out at some other point; doesn't have to be in only October.

We've watched the first two Alien movies (because we always do in October), Cabin in the Woods, and Train to Busan.

I made my husband watch Trick R Treat for the first time, and he really, really enjoyed it. He loves the movie Krampus, and I luckily found Trick R Treat on HBO Max, and immediately had to get him to check it out. It's a fun little movie that just gets you into the Halloween spirit, you know? It had been a few years since I had last seen it, so this might become a permanent part of our Halloween movie rotation.

I also discovered that my husband has not seen Freddy vs Jason. Will be fixing that tomorrow. It's gory horror camp at its finest. I don't care what any critic or movie snob says: I love Freddy vs Jason, and I'm not sorry.

Also, this past weekend, we watched a horror comedy that neither one of us had seen: Freaky. It's that horror spoof of Freaky Friday with Vince Vaughan. I enjoyed it and had a good time, even if it wasn't remotely scary or anything. Some of the kills were pretty impressive, though. It's from the same director as the Happy Death Day movies (which have been recommended to me several times over), and Freaky really makes me want to finally check them out.

Finally watched the new Candyman movie..
Didn't even hate it until the end. It was better than the other Candyman sequels at least.
But holy shit that ending was so stupid and out of nowhere.
Why the fuck did the cops shoot a dying man lying on the ground?

George Floyd happened only a month before it was planned to be released, did they reshoot those scenes and changed the ending?

Today's movie was 28 days later.

I actually saw this movie day one in theaters and remembered being horrified. Haven't seen in in a few years and decided to pull it off the shelf.
As a heads up, it can be debated if the infected are zombies, but I'm calling them that for simplicity.

28 days later is a British Zombie movie from the early 2000's featuring my favorite Scarecrow, Cillian Murphy. Murphy is a bike courier who is hit by a car and ends up in a coma. When he awakens he finds nothing is as it was. Zombies have over run England.

One thing I want to point out is that the gore is on point. The violence and viscera make for an absolutely great time.
This movie was also one of the first films I ever saw with running zombies and its terrifying. They're even capable of some parkour shit too.

I forgot how absolutely emotional this movie is, especially compared to other Zombie movies at the time. There's a scene where they all discuss what they miss the most about the old world and there's a line that really resonates with me.
"You'll never hear another piece of original music, ever again. You'll never read a book that hasn't already been written or see a film that hasn't already been shot. "

Absolutely great movie. 5/5 I say check it out.

finally got around to watching today's movie Zack Snyders dawn of the dead. A remake of the Romero classic ends up being a mixed bag.
Aside from the meth zombies (a terrible idea) the movies biggest issue is that it feels really hollow. All the characters are sketched out just enough to be more than extras, but barely. As everyone is so one-dimensional, there isn't an emotional core or arc to follow through the narrative. The visuals are impressive and the action fine, but it's all in the service of nothing, just empty calories on film.

The original Dawn is a bit campy and dated by comparison, but travelling with them through the narrative and seeing how they change and flourish or fail is gripping. The Remake just doesn't seem to really care, giving us nothing substantive to sink our teeth into.

The only issue I have with that movie is the fact it was shot using a Canon XL1 which helped with the short amount of time they have for some of the public locations but could only record sd video which honestly wasn't never great looking and got outdated very fast.

This is why Michael kills a mix raced couple, a gay couple, and then a minority couple almost like a check list of progressive ideology.

Michael was killing anyone who crossed his path. Doesn't matter what race, gender or sexuality you are. Michael will kill you because he wants too. Everyone is just meat targets to him waiting to be killed.
I knew there was a reason he was my favorite.

Honestly I feel in this case some of the grainy video adds to the aesthetic but I can absolutely see how it would get on people's nerves.

I know we have a thread for it but i have a ...few issues with the chucky tv show, I'm a little behind on the "gay kid" the media was propping up in the show is the emo edgelord chucky lives with supposed to be him?

2. Chucky referring to his son/daughter glen as a "queer genderfluid." and being totally cool with it. Like wasn't the whole point of seed of chucky (as batshit insane as it was) Chucky saw glen as his son and refused to see him as a girl, let alone queer? Not to mention the man is a psychopathic serial killer who grew up in an age where just being gay could get you shunned...at best? Not really the best advocate for lgbtq rights...or maybe he's the perfect candidate 🤷‍♂️

3. Brad Dorrif's voice. The man just sounds so tired with this franchise and the chucky voice has aged badly, but since he's not exactly an A lister anymore what other choice does he have? Say what you want about mark Hamill in the remake, but because he's also a great voice actor in his own right, and doesn't have the baggage of being saddled with the franchise for 30 years he sounded more a lot more enthusiastic than Dorrif. Who sounds like he's recording his lines reading off the script before he had his morning coffee.

I prefer 28 Weeks Later. 28 Days is good up until the 3rd act.

I think Chucky is just lying on the whole "totally cool with my genderfuild kid" line to the kid to earn his trust.

"Get that Pussy off the table!"

*hooker climbs off the table*

"I meant the cat."

Demon Knight really is my fave of the Tales from the crypt movies. Of the two (technically three if you count Ritual) It's the most over the top and goes all in. Top notch makeup and gore effects, hard hitting action and an all star cast. Also I know it's poor form to quote a lolcow but Doug walker was right about the Crypt keeper.

He steals the show even though his screen time is on par with what it'd be on the show. I love how he cares more about the monster being scary and convincing but give no fucks with how hokey and forced the actress trying to be sexy is. Little guy reminds me why I got into this genre.
