Sorry to disappoint you, Boomerfan1488, but Deborah Hill really did not give a fuck. She was in it for the money just like John Carpenter, if she got paid she was happy. She owned the original Myers mask and kept it under her bed for years until they made part 2 and I think they had to use another one because the thing was stained by her chain smoking.

That's why I kept imagining that after the guy said 'It's not Michael, look at what he turned us into' so somberly that there was someone in the crowd who took out his phone used google and went 'Yeah he raped like 5 kids and wore their skins as a suit' and the crowd shrugging then going 'EVIL! DIED! TONIGHT! EVIL! DIED! TONIGHT!'

Literally all of the people on that bus were described as extremely dangerous mental patients, it's not like it was Garcia the illegal immigrant Janitor with a 4 year old girl with leukemia and no insurance they pushed to his death
I feel like the filmmakers forgot especially with certain people who always clutch their pearls that the mentally ill could be victims too.

But that thing you posted about Halloween Ends being some coming of age bullshit and addressing COVID makes this sound like a pretentious trashfire where almost everyone involved has their head up their ass. If that happens, then Ends could be one of the worst Halloween films out there on par with Resurrection or 5/6. (I shit on the Rob Zombie movies a lot but they are just bad Halloween movies and could've been fine if they were their own film series)

Seriously what's with horror films trying to be fucking pretentious, people watch these films to get scared, watch people get killed, or people put in dangerous situations not some allegories about racism whatever. With this pretentious age of horror movies, the worst offenders of this are either the Black Christmas Remake (for very hamfisted feminist messages), Us (For putting themes before the story or scares), and worst of all Spiral. Spiral probably is the worst horror movie out there currently since it tries hard to be some cop drama and commentary on crooked cops rather than a horror movie due to Chris Rock completely missing the point of what people enjoy about Saw especially with how his project derailed an idea that would've had Tobin Bell.

It's pretty much that, since god forbid women can't be strong on their own, this same logic also generally applies to any tomboy character where females can't simply have the same interests as men without people believing they're trans.
 
Tonight's movie was Hatchet by Adam Green. I love Adam. He's a horror movie fan and it shows. If you have Shudder, watch Holliston. It's a sit com about him and his friend trying to get funding for their horror movie. It's got Dee Snider and Oderus Urungus (rest in peace brother. ) as guests too.

Holliston aside, Hatchet was absolutely refreshing!

After the Scream movies broke down and subverted all the rules of Slashers, Adam just played them all straight. Hatchet is a love letter to all of those old slashers and there's even a Tony Todd cameo!
One thing I forgot is absolutely how fucking HUGE Kane Hodder is! Dude is built like a truck.

Lambert actually was, it's shown very briefly in Aliens as they recap the crew

I could have sworn that I read somewhere that the cast was meant to be unisex in the script so any actors they liked could play whatever role.

Apologies, I realize now I worded that weirdly. If the cast was meant to be played by anyone, why would they add the fact that one of the crew is transgender, let alone in a movie where their sole appearance is on a screen saying they died.
It's just weird to me.

It's on a screen in the background so you could watch it 1000 times and never notice, but yes it's real and so is canon. Although this was long before you'd insert them into media to get woke points, so I assume it's more of a "it's the future so we have all sorts of crazy tech" sort of thing.
 
I mean the writers have straight up said that he's not meant to be supernatural, so I figured they just made him into some huge autist who doesn't feel pain or has a very high tolerance for it and his single minded in his pursuit of shit (but still needs to lie down and recuperate from the shit he's gone through).

That's definitely how he was portrayed if you go according to either H1 -> H2 or H1 -> H18

I'll still disagree. You can argue that Michael himself is not supernatural he ages and bleeds like a normal person, but there's always been a supernatural edge, whether it's the mark of thorn, the mask itself (speculative of course) or some other issue such as H20 timeline.

Not only that but it would have made the ending even more powerful because of the absolute glee that Laurie's daughter takes in watching Michael get his shit wrecked, and then kills him. So that she gets possessed and becomes the darkness herself would have made lots of thematic sense. Michael was freed and back to his childish innocence as seen in the reflection in the window, and she in turns becomes the murderer etc...

See I only like that idea in the original timeline where they explicitly make it out as Michael is supernatural via Mark of thorn. There was also the psychic link thing he did in 4/5. By removing his outro-supernatural effects (psychic links) it just makes little sense to me in this new timeline. Also I think the directors don't know what they want from kills because it's pretty clear even if Michael isn't supernatural fully he has a supernatural edge, or something else (such as the mask theory) is driving him to that transcendance. It might not even be his paticular mask but any mask he chooses to wear (See H1 when he killed his sister in a jester costume/clown costume) the reason they can't explain that is because if they do that would drive the whole mystery of Michael's power or how he carries himself. Which is one thing they seem intent to keep which I don't disagree with fully, but I noticed in the soundtrack they no longer refer to Michael as "The Shape" or "Michael" like in the 2018 film, now they just refer to Michael in the new soundtrack as "It." I think Carpenter's ideas for directing might be far different than Jamie Lee's which may be why the whole plot seems conflicting with the director's statements.

The whole mob scene sounded like an actual dog whistle. Basically it seemed like they were saying to BLM and Antifa be careful when attacking people who are innocent. Like Jamie Lee Curtis is naive and I'm sure that was her idea.

Well in all fairness that makes since I guess. I mean BLM talked about hating police and than proceeding to burn small own businesses down. Granted Granted BLM/Antifa allegory still doesn't exactly make since to me.

I can understand it wasn't exactly well thought out in the movie itself, but some things I noticed about it that add up to that symbolic gesture or allegory:

Tommy in the movie is a literal Antifa leader. Strong when he's in a group, weak in a 1-to-1 confrontation. (The entire mob scene at the end)
The catchphrase "He will not divide us" although not nearly the same i close to the brainwashed chants of "Evil dies tonight."
After the death scene of the mental patient Tommy's basically like "Sorry, but I can't stop now even if there are more innocents." He doesn't say that, but it comes off as such when he says "He can't stop now" or "Has to continue" to Karen.
Michael could be representative of fascist or of evil (opposing views in politics) and anti-progressive speakers. This is why Michael kills a mix raced couple, a gay couple, and then a minority couple almost like a check list of progressive ideology.
They confuse the mental patient with Michael who is obviously nowhere near the same. It could be representing both as being opposed to progressive politicsl Just one is a good intentioned person who says "evil things" so they view him as a great evil. (Again this is symbolic in the film)
Tommy tells the sheriff that he will handle this taking the control from the law itself in one scene. The sheriff or police deuty or whatever says "I'm the law." After the murder no one even arrests any of hte citizens for the complicity in the murder of the mental patient. Just like Antifa/BLM in real life.
Laurie's whole claim about Michael "Being the great divider by fear" seems to represent opposing views/Trump/Facsism.
Michael divides the mob at the end into 1-1 battles where he destroys them, same too with the firefighter scene funny enough.

Basically, like any good propogandist, Jamie Lee Curtis realizes people are turning on BLM/Antifa. So in the movie she's trying to sway them to not be so attack heavy on people who aren't evil fascist (the mental patient) but to violently remove those who are (Michael)... The reason is if they don't stop targetting those who aren't Michael (Fascist/Trump/etc.) then they themselves will be corrupted. The part where the mental patient dies and the guy says "We're all guilty/evil now."

The other aspect where Jamie Lee shows herself to be naive of the lefts intention is the whole 1978 scene is referencing police-accidental shootings, which is to try to get Antifa/BLM from attacking the police, and playing up those kind of shootings as accidental and how many cops feel guilt to humanize them to the Antifa/BLM crowd. The thing is Antifa/BLM already won't like this movie just due to things like Michael killing gays, and minorities, and what not.

Just an example from 2018 showing them handpushing politic allegory and symbolism:

In the scene where Michael kills the kid who likes to dance instead of hunt with his dad... It seems to be basically symbolizing toxic masculinity (Michael) kills non-toxic masculine men (the kid who wants to dance instead of hunt with his father.) It was such a weird killing of the kid when outside his family prior to that he wasn't known for killing underage boys or kids.

The reason most people think it's merely a reach is because of how confusing it comes off and not well symbolized or sensical it often comes off as confusing (See Kills example) or aimed at the entirely wrong audience (2018/Kills) You'd practically have to be left wing nut job to see the message It's because even leftist muddle their idiotic messages such as Marvel Comics in recent years and then half way through a message they mess up part of the allegory so that it becomes either tone deaf, or missing the mark. Just like Jamie Lee, or the comments directed about how they're going to make Halloween Ends more political instead of less.

I agree. Halloween should just focus around Michael and the other symbolic and interesting figures. (Laurie/Loomis/Tommy/etc.)

Although he targeted kids the ones he did were his relatives such as Jamie in 4/5. Even then when that one boy with the pirate costume was in his way Michael went out of his way to not kill the kid, or when he cut the electricity at the children's hospital to distract the police. His primary target has always been older teens, and adults, and his family (whether children or not: Jamie or the baby in 6) He didn't kill more kids on average without any relative ties until Halloween 2018 (Dancing boy) and Kills (Dennis: The skeleton mask kid)

Edit: In Halloween 1 (the original) he walks in front of some of Tommy's bullies to scare the crap out of them but doesn't lay a hand on them outside of that or following kids such as Tommy with his vehicle, and even during the final confrontation his aim is squarely Laurie and not Tommy or the other girl she's babysitting.
 
I finally got around to watching today's movie Zack Snyders dawn of the dead. A remake of the Romero classic ends up being a mixed bag. I actually saw this in theaters back in 2004 and remembered loving it, but never watched it again afterwards.

The casting was pretty good in my opinion, Ving Rhames is on point in this and Sarah Polley sells the exhausted nurse very well.

The opening has some very dated CGI but it's not enough of a bother to ruin the film.

It cuts down dawn of the dead to the bare essentials. It wastes no time getting everyone to the mall and getting them situated. There's a few fun additions to the plot, I enjoy the scenes with the gunshop owner Andy and the effects look good.

My problem is that nothing of importance really happens until the halfway point where they have to stage an elaborate plan to get food to the gun shop owner. I can't really remember much, save for the big plot points and hell, I can't remember most of the mall security crew's names.

3/5. It's a fun popcorn flick with blood boobies beasties and more.
 
Review for the last two days, still not sure what I'm gonna watch tonight, but decided to go comfy then:

Evil Dead (remake) is... a masterpiece. I didn't appreciate it at the time, since I'm a huge Evil Dead fan and I was dead set against this remake in the first place (Evil Dead without Ash in it? How fucking retarded). Now that I've watched it a good.... I don't know, 7-8 times, it's about as good a remake/reboot as it can be. Shame that Alvarez won't be doing a sequel, and I'm not excited by the idea of Evil Dead Rise but at the very least this one is worth revisiting over and over and over again. 5/5

Tremors II: Aftershocks.
It's fucking tremors. Sure, it's not as good or as iconic as the first one, but for what it lacks in originality, kevin bacon or racist asian stereotypes, it more than makes up in guts, redneck shooting shit, and mexican stereotypes. 5/5

If you haven't seen those you're a retard drop everything you are doing even if it's life saving and just fucking watch them already
