Yeah, apparently it was greenlit in November and they've started working on it, not a pilot but straight to series and they already have plans for four seasons total, and a backup plan whether or not they get the rights situation sorted as far as Jason goes.

I really hope it becomes a thing.
Well I hope it turns out good. I been really hoping for some Jason action lately. I just hope they don't ruin the character like how the Halloween trilogy did to Michael Meyers

Apparently this came out a couple years ago. Re-Animator: the book of the film of the book.

The author has also written a bunch of "Tom Clancy" books.

There was a novelization of Coppola's Dracula published in the 90s, titled "Bram Stoker's Dracula". Ramsey Campbell wrote some novelizations of Universal horror movies, but I think they at least skipped the ones that were already based on books.

I remember seeing one of these for Jason Momoa Conan

It randomly popped into my head just how awesome the opening scene to Ghost Ship (2002) is.

Funnily enough there's two references to Fulci's The Beyond hidden in that one. At one point, a woman has a tattoo or mark on her arm very similar to the symbol of Eibon. Then you have the little girl with sightless eyes motif.

Too bad the flick immediately goes downhill after the opening.

I decided to re-watch Puppet Master 3 on a whim.

Note: I am not a Tubi shill they just happen to be the best streaming service for horror/cult/obscurio.

I haven't seen this flick since I was about 10 and the first time I saw it was on the Sci-Fi channel where it was cut down. I remember thinking that it was well made and seeing the origin of Blade was cool. But I was overall bored with it. It could have been because of the commercial breaks and lack of violence even though it has barely any gore in it.

I liked it more this time. David DeCoteau's masterpiece? Not that that's saying much. But it's the most competently made one, has some great performances and it's easily the "least bad" especially when compared to the cheese of the first 2 movies. Parts 4 and 5 are fun because of the concept but there's a lot of padding in both movies. Another thing I noticed is that there's a distinct lack of stop-motion scenes in part 3 which makes sense when you read up on how rushed the production was. I found this Twitter thread interesting:

The production was so tight that they had no idea what Six Shooter was going to look like so the guy who made the poster based Six Shooter on a Foot Clan toy from TMNT.

7/10 movie partly fueled by nostalgia.

It's funny that Band has pumped out so many Puppet Master movies but 4 and 5 were the ones that had a normal guy get access to the puppets. It should be an easy self-insert kind of movie to make: make a Puppet Master where a normal person, perhaps someone down on their luck, who somehow gets the puppets. It's the ultimate "What would you do?" concept if you had access to mini killing machines who will obey your every command. But Band was more interested in doing movies about WW2 or have weird crossover bullshit or make endless clip show movies.

Has anyone seen the 2018 horror movie called The Incantation with Dean Cain. It's low budget horror movie that I watched on Tubi back in 2020. Apprently it's no longer on Tubi but on Paramount+ now. Which I'm happy meaning it will get more attention and love that it deserves.

I find the movie despite it's budget is a good horror movie the main character is likable too. Cain plays the main villain very well. It really makes me feel sad that he's been blacklisted from Hollywood for all these years since it's clear he's a good actor and I really did enjoy his performance. The actress playing the lead isn't bad either does well of what she has to work well with. The movie is a very supernatural horror movie that does well with the supernatural element.

I got really stoned and looked up shit. In another edition "WHAT THE FUCK BALLS THIS IS ON TUBI!?"

I'm shocked this is on Tubi. Apparently Necro Files is featured in one of the more famous disturbing movie iceberg meme. Not sure if it was added on there as a normie filter or the guy who made the list didn't know what he was talking about. It's not disturbing at all not unless zombie rape offends you.

Same Blu-ray maker for Necro Files released this as well:

Previously unreleased anywhere, I decided to buy it on YT as a digital download. Which I think I overpaid at $13 after taxes to own it but ya' know, I want to send a message to these labels that it's okay to have the movie as a digital download. I don't think they'll listen because it's too lucrative to just sell the disk for the physical media diehards but it should be an option at least a month or two after they sell their copies. It's either that or you hope they upload the movie to Tubi like Severin and several more.

I enjoyed Slaughter Day. A lot of obvious flubs are left in which adds to the charm. I'd recommend it.

I keep an eye on the specialty streaming services because you never know what's going to pop up that's you've been looking for.

For instance, the recently announced releases from Screambox include one I've been watching for a proper, translated US release

It's the micro-budget martial-arts-action-comedy-slasher Yellow Dragon’s Village, from indie director Hugo Sakamoto, previously only available in Japanese on DVD and U-Next. Two of Sakamoto's other films, the action movies A Janitor and Baby Assassins were released on WellGoUSA's service HI-YAH but I've been wanting to see some of his other films, the mockumentary-action film Legendary Hit-man, Kunioka and it's sequel Green Bullet so who knows, maybe those will get US releases too.

Yellow Dragon's Village is the story of a group of college friends who go on a rural retreat and have a run in with a cult, it's a folk horror slasher that also becomes an revenge-action film midway through, all in 67 minutes.

Happy February pride month

Very mediocre zombie flick with a great concept but middling results and only decent gore. It seemed like Lenzi wanted to be like Fulci with the number of eyeball violations on display or perhaps it was dirt cheap to get the makeup guy to create an eyeball gag?

A remake, or something with the same premise but done with a little bit more money and imagination would be interesting but it won't happen in the mainstream any time soon. Sheeit, I'm waiting for some nut to make a Juneteenth horror flick.

It's going to happen. Some guy is going to make a Juneteenth horror movie and it'll most likely be shot on a cell phone and have Halloween store-level of gore effects and crack whore stripper titties. And it will be glorious.

So I watched M3GAN and... it's not terrible. It's pretty enjoyable, actually. It's fast food next to The Menu's five course meal, but when you're drunk and its three AM, a cheeseburger really does the job too. Definitely worth a watch. I'd give it 8-8.5/10

While the premise for The Belko Experiment is intriguing, it rushes through things and the all the characters are one-dimensional. If it was a television series, time would be given to character development and possibly show how a international corporation gets away with this "experiment".

M3GAN is good, acting's a bit iffy in some places but it's an enjoyable watch. Just don't go in expecting it to be dead serious when it's pretty damn campy.

I've talked before about that run of late 90s and 2000s horror movies that could be described as "neo gothic" where there was great emphasis put on eye popping production design and intricate set design.

The run being at least House on Haunted Hill 1999, 13 Ghosts 2001, Fear Dot Com, Ghost Ship, House of Wax 2005 and Orphan, all of which was either the same production company or director, but you might also include Dead Silence which was the Saw guys attempt at gothic horror though iirc there's no direct official connection with the others.

You might even want to go a little further back and include Peter Jackson's The Frighteners now that I think about it, which was produced by Robert Zemeckis as well but was before his "Dark Castle" production company but was still in the vibe of "90s does gothic"

Beyond that you may also want to include 2005's The Skeleton Key which was 00s "southern gothic" and is actually pretty underrated, though again there's no direct connections with the other movies, just thematic similarities and a similar approach.

While most of these movies were flawed, the attempts at eye popping gothic visuals was cool and not something you really see anymore, in the case of Ghost Ship beyond the cool opening scene (and that singer lady's fantastic breasts) the movie is pretty boring, a waste of a cool set up and set design.

You never see as much money put behind horror films these days, the idea that they could have blockbuster budgets was definitely a brief window of time and not how it's done anymore. (I wonder if the failure of Crimson Peak is a big reason why?)
