the fucking hunter crest (which i havent used since the first few hours of the game)
Yeah can we talk about how very few people uses it and how every single person I've seen posting clips of the game is using either reaper or wanderer.
I love that crest, never wanted to change to any of those 2 because I'm not fucking playing hollow knight, swapped to witch, architect and enast against a couple bosses for fun and even beat the true final boss on a shaman without tools/spells just because I wanted to lock myself out of healing in the air.

As a Path of Pain enjoyer, the "last test of fitness" in this game was really disappointing, way too short and easy.
I hope I'm just missing the equivalent area, but I feel like that was it.
Maybe Hornet's moveset is too strong for platforming...
I had some issues in the final segment but I have to agree, it wasn't that hard when compared to path of pain, but that one too was added later so there's still hope for a true final test of fitness.
Grandmother Silk is the most disappointing boss in the game. They build her up the entire game only to gimp her so players can get the parasite ending.
Same could be said about the hollow knight in the first game; he was a pushover when compared to watcher knights, Deepnest and even uumuu at a certain degree.
The parasite ending is genuinely difficult to get tho, facing Silk without heals or tools is not a cakewalk.
Just killed Lost Lace. Fuck you bitch Im done.
I like that fight, leagues better than Radiance as a true final boss, even if she doesn't beat her in term of presentation.
I'm trying to contain my autism and refrain from dumping every Silksong image I save in this thread, but this one was too good not to share:
Would make more sense if it was bell beast, but still funny.
>protagonist is a shortking who originates from a small niche newgrounds game
>flash-animated platformer
>company behind it is called "Team [Red Food]"

Hmm that doesn't sound familiar at all.
Are you having a stroke or are just retarded?

Imagine if they add a playable version of whatever crest you get at the end of the normal ending.

Just got to act 3 with almost exactly 60 hours on the save file.
I like the shake up where the story would usually be over, but instead you're stuck cleaning up after yourself and everyone is pissed at you.
Also really warming development with the bell beast.

Everyone seems to have all of these problems with the game that I don't.
Makes me feel weird that I don't also dislike it, but I enjoy it.

Nah I disagree, they show enough background details and cracks in the seams of Pharloom's society that it wasn't surprising to me at all that she's not nearly all she's cracked up to be by the pilgrims and scriptures.

First Sinner is the real Grandma Silk for players that go looking for it. Very similar attacks, but unlike grandma the sinner doesn't waste time manipulating the environment, having a long ass easy phase interlude attack, or having a 1 sec delay or tell between her threaded needle waves.

Given the extremely oppressive setting of Pharloom's hierarchy and enforcers, I think it's pretty sensible that the big matriarch is actually a middling fight while her first prisoner was clearly superior to her in every way. It sets up expectations well enough for players able to read between the lines of things and is a neat blend of gameplay and storytelling.

Be careful what you wish for brother.

Technically a mid-boss anyways it looks like, just started act 3.

The Shakra fight is absolutely amazing :story:

Yeah I wish First Sinner had a hard version. Fun as hell, balls clenched throughout, but over way too fast.
Like I guess she's meant to be the tough edition of GMS but since GMS was still a pushover, cranking her up just makes her kinda medium-low still anyway. I still loved it.

That and Seth were some of my favourites because you're just like, finding the gaps in their dumb bug psychology? They aren't crazy battles but it's a cool feeling of "outplayed, nerd".
A lot of bosses in this game have this where they seem intense but you can just be observant on your first attempt and then potentially do it hitless on your second, which I love, but for some reason it hits extra nice when they're a Hornet-sized opponent.

Seth and Shakra fights were a lot of fun because you have to be chill to respond appropriately. I was used to bouncing all over with clawline madness but they already zipping around and phasing out of reality. Once I calmed down it became quite easy. First Sinner required constantly staying close which was a change of pace as well.

He has the excuse of wanting to die.

I don't really get why it didn't buff your character in return, like having regeneration and a powerful Special attack so the idea of clearing the game with it isn't explained by the main character having a bout of insanity.

Silk just woke up after an eternity spent asleep and was still harder than Base Radiance, at least Imo, beat absolute radiancd dozen of times in order to get radiant void idol and weathered mask, so regular radiance for me is quite a trivial fight.

Because its a literal parasite that is trying to take control and its treating gives you the crest that makes it useful.
Yes, it doesn't makes sense that Hornet wants to fight the final boss with it, unless she's minimizing her problem and focusing too much on teaching her grandma a lesson.

Honestly the cursed ending has always felt kinda weird to me. Apart from the fact trying to get it without knowing about it beforehand is pure madness, how can the parasite even survive consuming that much silk? Silk is quite toxic to most creatures when consumed in relatively large quantities, and I doubt that Greyroot's race has evolved to be able to resist it (also what a waste that you can't fight Lost Lace while being cursed)

Ripped out broodmother's eye finally, but still not making any progress on Mount Fay.

- I think I'm going to finish the Sands area first before I try Fay again with better tools lol

Parasites can be helpful in the short term in nature. If the game made you think you found an upgrade rather than what 100% of players would think is an inescapable sidequest, then it could have been pretty cool to trick people into the bad ending.

Better tools for mount Gay:
- Climbing thingy bought from songclave's merchant
- A second silk heart found in whiteward (requires harpoon)
- Silk regeneration lantern in a weavenest near the start of the game
- Dash silk skill in wormways (kinda useless with harpoon but better safe than sorry)
- Druid's eye (mosshome)
- Multibinder (bellhart shop)
- Flintslate (Deep docks, requires harpoon or a simple key)
If you aren't braindead and actually using any crest that isn't wanderer or reaper, you could switch to architect and try a plasmium overdose (or get the overdose on any other crest and walk your way to mt.fay from wormways, if you can stand the runback and not using benches)
This is all the stuff that comes to mind that can help you with that area, it's not combat oriented, just a platforming gauntlet.

Why does noted right wing cartoonist TossStone take a shot at this game? How can it be possibly interpreted as le woke?

Act 3 now, pin lady, palestag, bell hunter,..is this just how act 3 is? Tedious ass bosses? If so i might just call it here, damn nigga.

This shit isnt even fun, just tiring
Most of Act 3's stuff is optional, including two of the three fights you mentioned. If I were you I'd just rip through the main quest fights including the final boss and call it for now. They're more fun anyway imo.
