As much as I've enjoyed HK, it's long as shit and 80% of it is doing laps through the same areas 20 times, so I don't see myself playing it again. It'd be nice to get at least a somewhat good ending.
Agreed, reflecting on it i think HK was kinda unevolved compared to the now fully realized potential of Silksong. Even the artstyle feels more developed between the two

Fuck that frost mechanic in Mount Fay, man.
Just use the fire item to heat yourself up.

I'm at a point in the base game where it's becoming pretty clear that my choices are going to lead to different endings soon. I'm at the second Hornet fight and I've killed two of the Super Metroid golden statue bosses. I don't want things metagamed or anything, I just want to know one thing: is this the kind of game where once you get an ending, you've locked yourself out of the others until you do NG+ or whatever? And if so, is this the kind of game where not getting the Dogshit Ending Of Sadness involves some cryptic series of actions that nobody but the most autistic would ever think to perform?

You are not locked out of any endings in HK, even if you complete the requirements for alternate endings you can still do the normal ones. You can then load the save again and do another ending.
I'm pretty sure you are locked out of two endings depending on what you do, but they are basically 'the same ending but the animation changes a little', unless they made it not permanent somehow.

There's one ending if you can't fight the TFB and one where you've unlocked the TFB but don't fight it that are basically identical, and the boss rush ending changes permanently if you give the NPC an item I think.

Basically, once you have the Void Heart, Hornet will always jump into the Hollow Knight fight to give you a chance to fight the source of the corruption, and you can't get the ending where she doesn't do that anymore. As for the Pantheon of Hallownest ending, it changes based on whether you give the Godseeker the flower or not.

@Another Random:
It's not letting me quote, but I've tried the flint a few times and the few seconds it buys still isn't enough for my panicking ass to get to da heater. I lose my shit on timed stuff that actively tanks your health under those pogo conditions, it triggers muh tism. Then I do stupid shit like dashing right into the very corner of the spikes' hitboxes or some shit.

Sands of Karak's timed pogo has not prepared me at all, sadly.

ETA: Which is kinda stupid... because I enjoyed the bullshit that is the Sinner's Path- The Mist, so you'd think Fay wouldn't test my patience as much but it do. It fucking do.

Honestly fay was my favorite area so far, it was just so tight and straightforward, which compared to just about all the other areas which are expansive and open ended, was a breath of fresh air

Despite, or maybe because of how much it hurt me, I say Hunter's March is my favorite area. I really like the atmosphere of it. The skarr designs are super cool. The music is real good too.

As mentioned, there's a basic bitch ending that you can get yourself locked out of if you do certain actions.

Although none of the endings are truly great. Hollownest is long dead, and the Chibi-Knight is fighting to save the remains.

Color was limited in HK1 because the Pale Fork had color blindness, hence why everything looked same-y.
Meanwhile, HK2 has color in spades.
Although I still get confused with the whole "everyone MUST wear a mask" thing, considering it's hard to tell when bugs have one or not (or they lack it, like all of the vessels).

The flint tool gives you 3 seconds but doesn't reset the timer, so use it in emergencies. The blue liquid thing that gives you temporary HP works well to give you extra time too.

It's the reverse in silksong's case compared to the usual actually. The normal ending is the only one you can lock yourself out of if you beat the final boss in the way that unlocks the path to the better ending. If you get the normal ending then you can reload your save at the last bench you sat at before the fight. Meanwhile if you beat her the good ending way then it saves AFTER the fight.

Feel free to just fight her right now for the normal ending if you want. Or not, since you can pick which ending you want anyway if you unlocked the necessary sidequest for for the good ending route (via two different button prompts right after you beat her).

Also there is no NG+ here. Just new playthroughs.

Even though it's not as fun to traverse as other locations the Choral Chambers has probably my favorite theme in the series, when I'm not falling on spikes or getting jumped by the choir it's extreme pleasant. The Skarr are cool though, probably my favorite group in the game.

Looking at the map one more time, I'm gonna say that my favourite area is Verdania.
I am not gonna stop shitting on the gay princes and their tribe or insect niggers.

I spent a little too much on marrow and Hunter's march due to my steel soul runs to appreciate them.

I do also like Mount fay, tho I wish it had a better theme.
Sinner's road is also an area I love in term of execution, it's kind of a miserable place, but it's a well portrayed miserable place.

The gauntlet before the Krust King Khann is fucking brutal, but the actual boss fight is one of the easiest in the game. Kind of a weird design decision.

I assume it meant to balance the gauntlet... but it really doesn't make much sense when you think about it yeah.
Wait a minute... the maggots can't damage you with the beast crest? at all?? ever??? :stress: Not even the purity wealth does that without breaking :story:

Silksong-Beast-Crest-Lugoli.mp4 BeastCrestMaggots.mp4

What are you talking about, the maggots do their thing just fine in those videos.

Todays session of silking the song has been a time of ups and downs.

On one hand, I fought Trobbio, and his fight was a very fun and chaotic dance. And I like his overdramatic character. 10/10 boss. would die multiple times to again.

On the other hand...

I finally came back to the second savage beastfly fight, and I hope whoever designed that is forcibly sodomized with a cactus.

The first Savage Beastfly fight actually wasn't that bad, sure adds are a lazy way to add difficulty to a boss whose moveset is less complicated than a lot of regular enemies in hollow knight, but SBF was an early optional boss, so obviously they weren't pulling out all the stops, and all the adds were pretty manageable, they had to come to me to hurt me. My death's there felt more like my own skill issues than anything else.

The SECOND SBF fight however... Has Tarmites as the adds.

Adds that can kill me from well out of my reach, by shooting projectiles that can do two damage if the magma bell is down... AND CAN LEAVE PATCHES OF DANGEROUS TERRAIN.

All while I still have to pay attention to the fat fuck zooming around the screen and destroying the goddamn floor so i can fall into fucking lava if I'm not careful...

Fuck that fight.

I beat it, and I'm glad i did, but still, may whoever designed that receive a cactus directly into their anus.

She hurts you out of love

Best boss so far hands down has been
first sinner
it was so fast paced and crazy it felt like a bloodborne boss, legit like a dance between the two of you

Can I get a spoiler free answer to what's up with Heart of the Wild quest
Was this icon on the map completely wrong?

I got the heart of the Green Prince in Verdania, but it was in an area a bit higher than that:

Is it just a bug/mistake, or is there some other heart I could have gotten?
