The mist place is fucking random with enemies that can phase through walls and move quick as hell.
The mist is a joke gimmick zone, you big bug baby. The only problem with it is that the ghosts arguably have a boring amount of HP for how trivial they are to swat, if you're doing it as the alt route with an Act 1 sword.

Also I saw a video on how the area logic works and it's kinda retarded. There's a couple of spaghetti code-ass counters for how many rooms you need to visit before and after the midpoint room, but because you can only enter the exit/midpoint room on a particular side, RNG can have you spending way longer in there than intended. There's equalisation logic to account for this, at least at the midpoint, but it works backwards by awarding bonus points if you didn't get fucked over by RNG rather than shortening the area if you did.
And the post-midpoint section is worse because one room layout is completely missing the required exit direction, so every bad roll potentially means you can get like 3 bonus rooms to "detour" back into a state where the right exit can exist.

I don't think this affected me so whatever, but lol @ the presumably homosexual hollow knight speedrunning community, I guess.

"Chapel of The Witch" is a name that does not give me positive vibes... I feel like some very fucked up and unnatural just happened.


Even worse, I'm now on the quest to kill it before it pulls an Alien on me.

Ok here's the list of all the stuff you can get in before the battle against the choir (with "*" I marked all those that requires the double jump):
- *4 whole ass mask (16 mask shards obtainable before the gauntlet)
- 3 nails upgrades (defeat widow, taste of pharloom and vaults)
- *Upgrade hunter's crest twice+vesticrest (find the other 5 crests hidden in the map and speak with Eva)
- Quick heal tool (whiteward)
- Dice tool (dice guy in blasted steps, either his corpse or by winning 10 times)
- *All spools
- Garmond (find him 3 times and then challenge him in a slighlty hidden area in the whispering vaults)
- *Shakira (finish her quest in bilewater and then beat her at a fight in Moorwing arena)
- *Upgraded Druid eye (deliver all mossberries, one is hidden in the memorium, and one in the weavernest at mossy grotto)
- *Longclaw (finish a quest at putrefied ducts, accessible from the memorium's map room)
- Pollip pouch (shellwood's pollip quest)
- Cogflies (find the thingy in high halls and spend 1 craftmetal)
- *volt filament in sands of karak (makes all spells deal bonus damage)
- Threadstorm from greymoor
- Tacks from an hidden hut in Sinner's road

For the minibosses, i suggest you to attack them from above with hunter's crest, if they charge the bat and holds it vertically, they are gonna do a jump attack followed by the large white explosion, if they are holdong it upward while charging, it's the line of small burts. If you get at least one companion, you can just cheese the final fight by hanging on the top left and let your friends do the job for you.

Greyroot never mentions whose birth she is trying to cause, it could be greyroot herself, sure, but could also be something else.
Honestly, it could just as eality be Nyleth.
 
basic taunt can actually damage nearby enemies if they are really close... The ring taunt doesn't. I don't know about the beast taunt.

I am still enjoying this game immensely, even at my slow as balls pace.
I actually never noticed because the visual is so subtle (and also probably because they hard bound it to right stick) until I saw this guy challenge Lace with only taunt attacks.

 
I don't know about the beast taunt.
The beast taunt has an hitbox but it's like very little of it in front and above Hornet and most of it behind her, also it doesn't have knockback, so it's always a risk to use and it's even harder to use it both aggresively and defensively on chasing enemies.
Basically, to track the hitbox, you need to look at how she moves her needle.
 
Literally every time I think i've seen everything, I go to some random corner in the middle of bumfuck nowhere and turns out there's a secret challenge, boss, npc, or important quest moment there. This game is truly an odyssey, usually when a dev takes 9 years its code for "we bummed around and twiddled our thumbs until we were almost forgotten, here's something mid (Cuphead DLC)"
its....bewildering to play a game that actually feels like the time waiting was worth it.
 
I'm reading reddit threads where people say the difficulty level is something like "the devs being cruel to players." Niggas be acting like Hornet didn't tell us to get good in the basic Hollow Knight ending.

Same people are bragging about their elden and Souls accomplishments while stopping silksong and meanwhile my filthy casual ass just beat Trobbio. 🥲

I think Silksong is like Elden Ring with perfect level of difficulty vs accessibility (with the possible exception of Bilewater, fuck that place genuinely). It's actually harder than elden ring imo since there's much less possible cheese. At the end of Silksong (or really most metroidvanias) I dont think you'll feel that strong compared to where you started, whereas by the time you reach the Elden Beast, I myself was Lion's Clawing bitches into the pavement with my giant hammer stunlock.

Elden bloodsouls players are also finding the game too hard so they whined until team cherry nerfed half of damage sources.
People are crying for the following:
- Having 3 long runbacks for piss easy bosses, they whine becuase DARK SOULSman had them removed (Yes, they will be actively pretend Rennala doesn't exists or complain about it).
- The 10 waves long enemy gauntlet being too long
- The true final boss becuase they don't want to be fucked by a black woman, they want a nigger to fuck their gf
I also had an IRL friend that unironically told me the fact that Hornet still takes damage from void enemies while having the flower is a plot hole. This fucking retard is writing a piece of fisction for a university thesis, I have no words to describe how fucking retarded his comment on the matter is.

Out of these it looks like I'm missing the needle upgrade (was already in progress, need maggot and rasher), three more spools, the second Hunter crest upgrade, and the cogflies. I did go back and at least complete the other two song objectives, it's just this one challenge holding me back. I make it to the first miniboss somewhat consistently but the final wave is maybe only 1 in every 10 attempts and it's usually by a thin enough margin that a single fuckup means I get to restart

Muckmaggot can be obtained in sinner's road.
Courier rasher is intimidating, but there are multiple skips in blasted steps to make that segment of the delivery a cakewalk.
Your spells scales with needle damage btw.
 
The gauntlet before the Krust King Khann is fucking brutal, but the actual boss fight is one of the easiest in the game. Kind of a weird design decision.
 
I'm at a point in the base game where it's becoming pretty clear that my choices are going to lead to different endings soon. I'm at the second Hornet fight and I've killed two of the Super Metroid golden statue bosses. I don't want things metagamed or anything, I just want to know one thing: is this the kind of game where once you get an ending, you've locked yourself out of the others until you do NG+ or whatever? And if so, is this the kind of game where not getting the Dogshit Ending Of Sadness involves some cryptic series of actions that nobody but the most autistic would ever think to perform?

As much as I've enjoyed HK, it's long as shit and 80% of it is doing laps through the same areas 20 times, so I don't see myself playing it again. It'd be nice to get at least a somewhat good ending.
 
You are not locked out of any endings in HK, even if you complete the requirements for alternate endings you can still do the normal ones. You can then load the save again and do another ending.
