I already beat Lace and repaired the towns, guess I just need to do Shakra's sidequest
You may need to get enough fleas to get the flea caravan to their final destination, as well as finding the fleamaster guy who marks them on your map. I've heard people say this is optional (and missable) but thinking about it that doesn't make sense unless they just die or something; they'd have to all be there for a certain Act 3 thing.
Other than that I think it's just finishing the town boards and visiting the Songclave priest to get his quest, yeah.

This shit is ten times more convoluted than trying to get the true ending in 1

Ya. But instead of just unlocking an alternate boss, this is pretty much where the game's story starts.

I only learned at around the time of Silksong's release that Hollow Knight has sold like 3x the amount of Undertale. Hollow Knight is popular and talked about for sure, but the amount you hear about it compared to people not shutting up about Undertale is minuscule. I should have known all along that it was a minority of weirdos who just won't shut up about it that keeps it relevant. Glad to know that Hollow Knight, the pretty unambiguously better game, is actually more popular among normal people.

Damn, just started chapter 3 and it looks amazing.

Undertale is "big" because a relatively massive amount of kids played it back in the day and never grew out of it so they still have that (and Deltarune) as their weird obsession, sorta like Disney adults. On top of that there's factors like the Tumblr crowd being drawn to it because of the dykes they put in there and the fact that Fox worked on Homestuck and you've got yourself a recipe for disaster

Also, now that Act 3 began I have some major questions
How is there void at the bottom of Pharloom too? And beneath the magma, is the core of the planet just a massive mass of void or what? I should've also suspected that those snail shamans were up to something, after all nobody in Pharloom uses the term "soul", but what I wonder is how did they get there and for how long have been they here. Don't most bugs lose their sentience after leaving Hallownest due to the pale fork's influence? I guess that being connected with the void gave them powers like that

Undertale is not a bad game tbh, but neither it's the masterpiece fans loves to picture it as and the pricing of 10$ for the experience it gives you should be used as reference for wbat you should expect when buying other indies at higher/lower prices. Normal people simply don't care about Undertale because it doesn't look good and can't care enough about sans megalovania.

So, finally beat the game.

(Not all of this time is actual time I did spend some time just idling on various screens.)

Holy SHIT that last boss. Genuinely took me days to defeat. Which is surprising, because there were some similar fights earlier on that were way easier.

Did just about everything, including the bad ending, save for a couple of the missable duels in Act 2 (just missed them, honestly - did get to fight Sentinel, at least) and the first two mementos (Sprintmaster and Seth).

For the high halls gauntlet: There's two ways to reduce the difficulty.
I believe in High Halls itself, you can find a room with a cart you can push around. If you climb up, you can find another room FILLED with Clawmaidens, and if you do something in there you'll kill them all permanently.

I was also able to get Shakra's assistance on the gauntlet, which was greatly appreciated. I don't know what triggered that, though - my best guess is either buying all the maps or doing her wish. She stands right outside the room, impossible to miss.

Those combined merely made it a challenging gauntlet, not a particularly brutal or long one. Though I also had an easy time with the Coral Tower and even one shot it, so maybe I just got in the gauntlet zone over the course of the game. Ironically, Watcher of the Edge proceeded to hand me my ass for hours.

I really like all the ways this expands on the lore.
The Wormways gets all fucked up by Lifeblood Plasmium, the Wisp Thicket is absolutely hosting a cult to the Nightmare Heart, and while there is a gay couple, you have to kill one just to progress the story, and then you can remind the other of how beautiful his kingdom was before it got completely obliterated, then kill him too and either sacrifice his heart so you can get a nice flower or mount his heart on a wall. Yes, you can actually do that.
I like how the world is a lot bigger and more dynamic, I like how there's all sorts of fun interactions of 'sequence-breaking'. It's a genuinely top tier game. I'll say there were less songs in the base game that completely stole my breath away, but still many incredible ones. Shellwood, Bilewater and the Choral Chambers were all great.

With that said, thanks to it's monstrous length, I am in no rush whatsoever to play it again. It's a looooong ass game, I wanna play something else (and get back to creative endeavours). There were also a few bosses that tried my patience - Mostly Groal and his insane runback, Savage Beastfly V2 and the lava dive right nearby. Fuck Tarmites with a rusty anchor. Still definitely my GotY, though.

Glad I decided to avoid this thread like the plague. Seeing some retard argue that combat changes are locked behind crests instead of pins as if there was literally any meaningful gameplay difference in terms of "get thing, change combat style" felt like it could have dealt psychic damage. I do agree the game could have eased in the double-damage a bit more, but I actually did the 5hr speedrun achieve of hollow knight not long before the game came out, so I was already pretty primed. That, and Reaper Style is genuinely so good.

My interpretation/understanding is that characters have two ways to preserve their minds: They can be in the influence of a Pale Being, or they can have a specialty mask made that helps maintain their personality without it. This allows people to move between kingdoms without much issue.

It was about average difficulty wise, the hardest thing is that it was very long so it's easy to get impatient and get hit doing stupid shit. Radiance was far harder and more annoying, especially with how she limited your movement in later phases. Plus, healing in HK was way riskier, while in 2, up until the last phase, I could just wall hop and double jump to be impervious to damage during the heal (which is true to almost all bosses). Even if you get hit you can use the invincibility frames to counter and build up healing.

I kinda wish they'd done something different with these silk abilities. I had just unlocked that silk dash attack move and I like how it can kill those worms, but now I've also unlocked that cross stitch parry and I'm like man, I wish I didn't have to choose one or the other. I kinda wish I had access to all the abilities at any given time.

Kinda sad that mist is gone. That area was kinda neat. I'm guessing it was just exhaust from that organ though, which is a nice detail. I'm really enjoying the emersion.

So, after being delayed by life, I got around to the blasted steps and beating the last judge. I made my way through the underworks and now I’m in the citadel… I found the clock work mantises but I don’t really want to fight another boss right now… how do I get out of here? Where is my bell beast?
