Hogwarts Legacy’s Low Completion Rate Sparks Debate

Hogwarts Legacy story completion rate has sparked an intense debate that has been raging for well over a week now. Apparently, less than 30 percent of players have finished the game, going by Steam and PlayStation Network data.

Why Hogwarts Legacy completion rate isn’t necessarily ‘low’

At the time of this writing, PSN data shows that 28 percent of Hogwarts Legacy players have unlocked the trophy for beating the game. Fans argue that games like Elden Ring and The Witcher 3 have similar completion rates but it’s worth noting that the former is a significantly challenging game whereas the latter is lengthier.

Comparing it to games with a similar campaign length, Hogwarts Legacy’s completion rate sits below God of War Ragnarok (45.2 percent) and Horizon Forbidden West (29.3 percent). However, there are several caveats when it comes to this data as well.

For starters, Hogwarts Legacy released less than two months ago whereas Ragnarok and Horizon have been on the market for about 4.5 months and a year, respectively. Secondly, neither Ragnarok nor Horizon offer the amount of activities and quests that Hogwarts Legacy does.
Another key difference is that Hogwarts Legacy requires players to be a certain level before completing main quests as the story progresses, often forcing them to do side quests and activities to level up before tackling the next main objective.

Whatever side of the argument one is on, completion rates are hardly an indication of a game’s quality. Look no further than Red Dead Redemption 2, which boasts a famously low completion rate.

People have literally told you that the ratio is normal and yet you still tried to make a big fucking deal out of it. Typical fucking journoscum.

I don’t use gaystation but I’ve completed maybe like five games total my entire life because I’m an ADD faggot. Completion whoring has and always will be for autists

Whoever is making this molehill into a mountain doesn't understand gamers; not that I do, because we're all fucking autistic, but the main thing to keep in mind is only certain games get those really high completion percentages. Most games never make it past the 20% range of completion, so Hogwarts making it to 28% is well within the range of acceptable.

My expertise on this is being a PS trophy hunter and aim to 100% everything I play. So I look at the numbers a lot and can recognize trends.

Almost every game has a low completion rate, especially in the age where more normies play games than ever before.

The coverage for this game is one of the most absolutely pathetic things I've seen in my lifetime.

If troons are right, it means people didn't care about the game and only bought it to piss them off. I don't see how that's a win for them.

TWO HOURS AFTER LAUNCH
"Hogwarts: Legacy has a 0% completion rate! JK Rowling is once again a pauper living in a studio flat above a bowling alley forced to give handjobs for a fiver a go! Total trans rights victory, CHUDs in shambles."

If you look at even some popular old games on PlayStation "Complete the first level" doesn't even have 100% rate.

So, dishonest shit like this pisses me off, so I did a little check.
In my mind, Rockstar games are pretty much the biggest, most popular and most prestigious products on the open-world market.
Their games sell INSANELY well, no exception, and they are seen as the gold standard for video games as a whole.

So, I can check how many people finished the main story in this game by looking up achievements.
First, GTA V. It sold 175 million units.
The main story completion achievement is called "To live and die in Los Santos", and it 24.2% of Steam owners have this achievement.

Next, Rdr2. It sold 50 million units.
Achievement is called "Endless summer". 19.5% of owners have this.

Hogwarts Legacy has a higher completion rate than BOTH of them.
Are these monumental games flops now.

I hate lying troons and their journoscum lickspittles.

They never fixed the technical issues. The game runs like shit on 4090s. Also the story isn't that interesting and the game loses its appeal way before the ending. But mostly the technical issues on pc.
Wow. If it runs like shit on a 4090 there's no hope in hell it will run well on my poor little 6GB VRAM clone card. (:_(

Imagine if the completion rate were 0% and yet millions of people were willing to pay $60 for it. Would it be a win for the troons because nobody was playing it, or an L because people would rather give their money to Rowling than to troon causes, even if they get literally nothing out of the deal? Hell, next time Rowling could just sell empty boxes and still rake it in, while some people have to sell their work for 1.002 cents to get any bites. So many people seemingly spite buying the game before it hits the bargain bins would be a pretty big own.

Maybe it would be a win for the troons if the high sales were accompanied by waves of angry purchasers and a bullshit refund policy, but for things to get that bad people would have to talk about the game, which is also a lose condition for the troons.

Of course the real explanation for the completion rate is that speed-running games is for autists and troons at GDQ (but I repeat myself). People with responsibilities will play more casually at their own pace.

Its $CURRENT_YEAR+9 and nothing has changed, classic journoscum.

Also note that OP's link is from Yahoo, while this link is from the source Yahoo copied the article from. Can't even steal an article right.

KF didn't steal the article right either since those pointless tangents are supposed to be removed, but at least including it here adds some level of comical/nostalgic value.

This really highlights how duplicitous the author is: beyond the undisclosed affiliate links, they're also doing this weird thing where they are crowing about low completion rates like they support the troons, even though they actually want people to buy the game.

The amount of Steam users that have the "Thank you!" achievement in Yakuza: Like a Dragon is 34.5%, even though that game has two notoriously difficult boss fights at which many people gave up on completing the game, it has Steam cards where whales will just buy the game to then buy all the foil cards to max out the profile badge to get profile EXP, and despite the fact that it is a Yakuza game where many people prefer to dig into all the side activities rather than the main story. And it still was a massive success with overwhelmingly positive ratings on Steam.

This is basically journalists realizing that the game became a massive success and they are resorting to petty nitpicking to try and smear the game for being shit. Really pathetic.
