Five years after the end of World War II, American soldiers were fighting again, this time in Korea. Here Marine Capt. Francis “Ike” Fenton pondered his fate and the fate of his men after being told that his company was nearly out of ammunition, 1950.

A painting by the director Akira Kurosawa. Kurosawa was known to be constantly working on projects with meticulous detail, akin to the work ethic of Stanley Kubrick. Particularly with his latter films, like Kagemusha and Ran, which had long gaps in their productions, He would use whole paintings to storyboard his films, and ask his screenwriters to make up backstories within the screenplays. The original draft for Seven Samurai was over 500 pages long.

The Khmer National Armed Forces during the Khmer Republic. Most famous was Ros Serey Sothea, a famous singer during the late Kingdom of Cambodia and the Khmer Republic. Shortly after the Khmer Rouge took over, she disappeared and was confirmed dead after Pol Pot's regime collapsed however there are many theories. Her sisters believe she was executed for her western influences and association with the Khmer Republic. Other theories consist of her using her past experience of working on a farm to blend in before dying of overwork, forced to sing communist songs and forced into a marriage with a Khmer Rouge officer only to be executed, or died of malnutrition.
