Discovered in the 1970s, Petosiris was a government official of the early Roman Empire buried in the middle nowhere in the western Egyptian desert, 150 miles away from the Nile. Despite his name being Egyptian in origin, his tomb marks him as someone of both Roman and native Egyptian heritage, shown by the artwork decorating the mausoleum.
