I have put a couple hundred hours into this game.

This is undeniably the Banished killer. It is made the creators of Grim Dawn so it has a good dev team behind it.
The biggest difference between this game and banished is that in this game you eventually transition your little village into what is basically a town with alot more complexity and it has more trade-offs based gamepaly.
If you decided to ignore forestry tech to focus on agriculture or better weapons you may find yourself with a wood shortage. If you ignore medicine for better weapons you might get a massive smallpox epidemic. You have to make a choice so even the middle-late game is going to have shortages and problems you have to adapt to.
