I keep on seeing people telling critics of this that "It's not for you." But like, who is it honestly for? Teenage girls? Anime fans?

As someone who falls under both of those labels, and has many friends who do as well, I can say for a fact that literally none of us are gonna touch this trainwreck with a ten-foot pole.

If it's not interesing to us, then who's the target demographic?

You know when people proudly claims that something is made by and for X group, right? That applies here, this is made by and for SJWs. Anyone (at least those I have seen so far) outside those circules is at best indifferent about the show but willing to give it a chance.

I honestly think Gabe Newell is the only one on Planet Earth who understands piracy. He's stated many times: "Piracy is a service problem, not a theft problem". For the longest time, people were charging 1 price all across the globe and then you've got regional pricing for software based on what people make. Not to mention insane DRM. It isn't that people don't want to pay for things, most people will. You just have to offer a better service than the pirates do. And you have to face that there will be some who won't buy your shit anyway, so that's not lost sales. What IS a lost sale is if your service is worse than a pirate's service. Most companies don't understand this.

Crunchyroll's service is worse than a pirate's service. So more people will pirate naturally. This will make it even fucking worse as it exposes them as liars. Netflix can make anime, yet a company that solely specializes it can only make a Cal-Art, Steven Universe rip-off that 99% of Western Animation seems to be in love with. So, instead of honoring their promise and pumping money into Japanese animation companies, they pump money into themselves and fat, ugly cat-ladies to make a show nobody asked for and nobody wants. Fucking brilliant.

And I don't even watch Chinese cartoons so how fucking re.tarded that a person like me understands this better than...oh, wait. Its probably just a shitty embezzlement scheme. Hire bottom of the toilet, no-name talent, pay them nothing since these cunts are a dime a dozen, pump money into yourself for 'production' and the 'management'. Yeah, that makes more sense. They're just incompetently embezzling their money. Short-term gains for long-term losses just reeks of corporate greed and money shenanigans.

I agree with this. Even though I almost philosophically prefer piracy, Steam made it really easy actually to buy a game and just have it instantly on any platform you had available. This was especially useful for online games where you could also have a monopoly on the server and pirated versions just wouldn't work.

Steam actually took a huge chunk out of piracy just by making the legitimate, paid version of a lot of things preferable to the pirated version in a way you couldn't just pirate your way around.

I wish these pansies would stop skirting around the real issue here. This is literally Girl's Show: The Anime. There's nothing new or unique about it. There's tons of other magical girl/magic school with female lead shit all over the place in anime to the point where it's pretty much required to do something unique in order to stand out from the crowd. Madoka, Princess Tutu, Utena, Little Witch Academia, etc. They've all done their own thing and they succeeded in the genre.

The fact that this nonsense didn't even bother showing us a sneak peek to distinguish it from the rest of the lot just shows that it's nothing more than a cheap slapdash product. It's just shit. That's all it is and no amount of hiring diversity, current politics, or other pulled-out-of-ass explanation is going to change that.

It's just. Shit.
 
I wonder how Japanese otakus would react if they saw this shit and I told them this is what "Americans" think of Anime.

Exactly. Steam made it easier to buy something than pirate it. Same with GoG. Its easier to buy older, optimized games than pull them off the abandonware sites.
