I don't like or dislike anime, but I've seen Spirited Away a few years back, and if I recall, the female protag was: brave, but not #ActionGirrll; loved her family, faced her fears to save them; brattish, but tolerably so; likeable.

Like someone said upthread, she was a good lead without having to resort to SJW politics, and I bet none of the writers or artists were bleating on about how amazing it is to have a female lead.

So another community is once again getting invaded by people who have no interest or despise the medium the community is centered around, all to push a mediocre product that parrots their political ideas. Wonder what's next.

Has the California animation clique that came out to defend She-Ra and Thundercats shown their support for this? Or are the people behind this not their friends, so they don't care?
I briefly brought it up on Digibro's thread about TB Skyen getting ass-blasted that people dislike the show for its vapid trailer:

On the next page, @X-Shaped Weeaboo did a good breakdown of all the issues going on with it.

The Quartering, as usual, pops up as to hate on the show:

And then a few others threw some disdain for it, though they weren't anything notable. Pretty much just mirror what most of us here already think about it:

EDIT: Also, fun fact about TB Skyen is that he seems to follow 8bitBecca on Twitter. Don't know how close they are, but I feel like he's the kinda guy that definitely fits into that sort of "crowd."

Sen/Chihiro was a great main character and everything a female hero should strive to be--a hero first and a woman second. Tumblrinas totally forget these kinds of characters exist and it's pathetic because these characters are so loved and celebrated by the masses.

Oh of course, he just published a video talking about how he moderates comments.
What a hero this guy is. He's gotta step in and eliminate the users that are breeding hatred.

Cohen Edenfield AKA Skullmandible is Kate Leth's boyfriend. Here is him and another person replying to one of the tweets where Kate was giving him loads of shit for liking anime.

And here is Cohen making fun of Kate for how much she hates anime.

Kate Leth fucking hates anime. She's only working on High Guardian Spice because she thinks it's sticking it to the patriarchy in some way, because, as a person who knows nothing about anime, she's completely unaware that almost every good anime has strong female characters and LGBTQ characters, and anime had such characters long before western animation.

She's probably one of those ignorant dips who thinks that the characters in anime are supposed to be white. The one non-ambiguously brown character in High Guardian Spice is probably supposed to represent a white person. They're making anime more "diverse" by getting rid of all those pesky Japanese characters!

And, as an SJW who constantly screeches at everyone for the slightest micro-aggression, can Kate not see the hypocrisy in her and all of these other white tumblrinas working on Cultural Appropriation The Show?

I predict this show is going to be dead on arrival. I don't think I have seen anyone hyped for it and considering how fast the hate for this will spread, this will just end up like Gen Zed.

I remember when feminists used to complain about sassy action ladies (Watch early Nostalgia Chick/ Linsday Ellis reviews for that) because they were one-dimensional and boring. Now they are in the one-dimensional and boring sassy action ladies factory!

Leth wrote some books for Marvel that ticked off every item on checklists of "sjw pandering comics cliches" that revealed how uninspired she is and were swiftly canceled. Why would you acquire the services of this creature when everything she does is sales poison, besides the "we're socially aware and stuff and really need to show it" factor.

I can easily see why subscribers are upset and asking "Hey why's my money going to overwhelmingly American staff to make garbage that looks like one of the seemingly tens of potato-bodied ripoffs you'd see two years ago trying to hop aboard the Adventure Time/Stephen Universe gravy train".

Well, Crunchyroll finally addressed some stuff in a Press Release and it seems that, wierdly, there's someone vaguely competent at the helm. Leaving things a good 48 hours to let the anger blow itself out.

They've reassured people that High Guardian Spice is being funded by the half of the money CR keeps for themselves from ad revenue and subscribers (about $100m or so) while the remaining 50% goes on to the Japanese anime studios most people buy a CR sub for, or tolerate the ads.

All funding for it is derived from clicks and views, much like Youtube, so there isn't any massive divergence of funding into the daft political studio set up. They've asked folks to give it a chance, but obviously hit things wrong with the dismal trailer that told nothing of what it actually is as a show, and the only synopsis you can find are in news articles surrounding it, rather than, ya know, in the fucking trailer.

End of the day, it's a magical girls in a school grow up and there's an evil thing over there. So the idea behind it is so fucking safe it's nearly yawn inducing.

The good news is they're now going to actually finally get someone in to upgrade their player to HTML 5 at long fucking last.

Strikes me a bit like the new Trailer for Battlefield V which makes the game look fucking dope but EA's already fucked that up and shitcanned the dickhead behind those comments.

Here's hoping CR does the same for Ellation's studio...

So what did Digibro do?

Hoo boy, you had to ask.

Recently, Crunchyroll financed this fucking thing:

Everything about this trailer makes one cringe like a Sarin Gas victim. None of the actual plot is covered, or concepts, or characterization, just several minutes worth of spouting about diversity. Crunchyroll's weeb userbase was having none of this shit. Not only was this yet more evidence that CR really has, as expected, increasingly being overtaken by Social Justice (this show is made by an honest-to-god group of rainbowhaired white women who are members of a group demanding Anime be inclusive, apparently forgetting Studio CLAMP exists and that women are responsible for some of the best known shows in history), but it's doing this while their site is a fucking shit-show (it's a streaming site that runs Flash, ffs, and that's being discontinued in like 3 months), and their translations are a fucking abortion (ask any Jojo fan).

Digibro did a lengthy call-out video breaking down every single one of the above. Digibro himself is basically a lolcow, but Crunchyroll recently went nuclear to shut him up, and you know how well that works against shatteringly Autistic people.

That is why you go to horriblesubs instead of giving your money to those woke morons, they are paid to get JAPANESE anime not Tumblr fanfiction

wtf is this shit

I love how such a huge part of "women" making stereotypically male nerdy stuff like games, tabletop, """anime""", etc. were born men.
Look up "female game programmers" on Twitter, I guarantee over 90% are trans.
It's fine if you want to say you're a lady and IDGAF as long as the shit you make is good, but it's ironic a group that says men can't speak about women's issues because they haven't had the experiences women had has a lot of trans people who only recently transitioned speaking for women...
