I briefly brought it up on Digibro's thread about TB Skyen getting ass-blasted that people dislike the show for its vapid trailer:Has the California animation clique that came out to defend She-Ra and Thundercats shown their support for this? Or are the people behind this not their friends, so they don't care?
I don't like or dislike anime, but I've seen Spirited Away a few years back, and if I recall, the female protag was: brave, but not #ActionGirrll; loved her family, faced her fears to save them; brattish, but tolerably so; likeable.
Like someone said upthread, she was a good lead without having to resort to SJW politics, and I bet none of the writers or artists were bleating on about how amazing it is to have a female lead.

On the next page, @X-Shaped Weeaboo did a good breakdown of all the issues going on with it.
The Quartering, as usual, pops up as to hate on the show:

And then a few others threw some disdain for it, though they weren't anything notable. Pretty much just mirror what most of us here already think about it:

EDIT: Also, fun fact about TB Skyen is that he seems to follow 8bitBecca on Twitter. Don't know how close they are, but I feel like he's the kinda guy that definitely fits into that sort of "crowd."

So what did Digibro do?
Failed the purity test: https://www.reddit.com/r/GamerGhazi/comments/8fnf02/digibrowhy/ (https://archive.fo/S5Ru6)So what did Digibro do?
So what did Digibro do?
Hoo boy, you had to ask.
Recently, Crunchyroll financed this fucking thing:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=PZSOGZFfSDk
Everything about this trailer makes one cringe like a Sarin Gas victim. None of the actual plot is covered, or concepts, or characterization, just several minutes worth of spouting about diversity. Crunchyroll's weeb userbase was having none of this shit. Not only was this yet more evidence that CR really has, as expected, increasingly being overtaken by Social Justice (this show is made by an honest-to-god group of rainbowhaired white women who are members of a group demanding Anime be inclusive, apparently forgetting Studio CLAMP exists and that women are responsible for some of the best known shows in history), but it's doing this while their site is a fucking shit-show (it's a streaming site that runs Flash, ffs, and that's being discontinued in like 3 months), and their translations are a fucking abortion (ask any Jojo fan).
Digibro did a lengthy call-out video breaking down every single one of the above. Digibro himself is basically a lolcow, but Crunchyroll recently went nuclear to shut him up, and you know how well that works against shatteringly Autistic people.
Elucidate.(it's a streaming site that runs Flash, ffs, and that's being discontinued in like 3 months)
I love how such a huge part of "women" making stereotypically male nerdy stuff like games, tabletop, """anime""", etc. were born men.wtf is this shit
![]()
Either that or they're all butch dangerhairs who act like "girls can do x too" when the content they produce is utter garbage.I love how such a huge part of "women" making stereotypically male nerdy stuff like games, tabletop, """anime""", etc. were born men.
Look up "female game programmers" on Twitter, I guarantee over 90% are trans.
It's fine if you want to say you're a lady and IDGAF as long as the shit you make is good, but it's ironic a group that says men can't speak about women's issues because they haven't had the experiences women have has a lot of trans people who only recently transitioned speaking for women...
