Kind of upset right now. I just went to feed my tortoise, Darwin, and found him dead. I received him last year and he was really sick. His last owner was an exotic animal hoarder so his growth was stunted to about forty pounds. The big guy had free range in my parents backyard in the summer with his own pool and I just moved him in the house for winter where he hung out with my cats and dog, who accepted him as part of the group.
I don't know how old he was but my vet said he was well over fifty.
My dad carried him outside little while ago so he can drive the body to the vet. I got a lot of money in tips this weekend so I am going to have him cremated. This guy was my buddy. Not just any creature will crawl up next to you and fall asleep like a housecat.
I was going to buy him a buddy this week to keep him company in the house. I almost got it last month but thank God I didn't if he was sick. Now I have a big plate of his favorite fruits just sitting on the table. Rest in peace Darwin, you amazing creature.
