5'5" here. Last year was the first time I ever heard of "Heightism" being a thing after I stumbled across this page: https://twitter.com/heightismxposed

I couldn't tell if those posts were real or not-- never encountered that kind of response in my life, (I'm no spring chicken) so it couldn't be as big an issue as depicted, right? Just looked like a bunch of shallow people finding something to hate on.

I guess some were offended enough to start a "movement" because shallow people found something to be shallow about.

These short people need to check their fucking privilege. I can't fit under a showerhead without crouching, can't fit comfortably into the backseat of most cars, and can't count the amount of times people have asked me how the "weather up there" was.

I'm so triggered that they aren't taking my issues into account with their shitlording.

As I said before, this crap was made in /fit/ and /sp/ as a joke. eventually some stormweenies on /pol/ took it a little to seriously and tried making it an actual thing for redpill.
The scary thing is that poe's law goes in effect here, so you can't tell if it's a troll or a butthurt incel.

SJW might not give a shit about height since they're all angry midgets.

Well, shiver my timbers, i don't know what to think anymore. But that comes to no surprise, considering i have seen people living in fantasy worlds, in which society is divided by alpha, beta and omega men.

Believe what you want to believe and strive to be better person insted of dwelling in self pity.
this is something many "redpilled" people fail to understand(loveshies, incels, MRAs, Stormfront...).

Heightism is super common on reddit too, there's /r/tall and /r/short obviously, lots of drama happening there all the time.

As an angry midget, I take offense to that comparison!

Yeah, well, check your "not having to scoot the driver's seat up as far as it'll go so you can drive" privilege!

You try having your little sister use your head as an armrest sometime. I am feeling way more triggered than you right now.

Sexual dimorphism that makes one gender taller in general is now sexist hegemony and da patriarchy. yeah ok.

Free haircuts from ceiling fans, most doorways are too small, forced to rent an SUV or a pickup or something if you need a rental car, ordering all your clothes and shoes online because god forfuckingbid Foot Locker carries a size 16 ever in their lives, always losing at hide and seek, "hey would you mind getting that down from the top shelf", lol if you think your work ever has uniforms in your size, am I missing anything?

BUT I'M NOT BITTER OR ANYTHING :c

Not having to scoot your seat so far up???!!? How about "having too much leg and it interfering with the stick shift even when the seat is scooted all the way back"...I'm so posting on tumblr about this.

The real problem isn't prejudice against people less than six feet tall. The problem is branding! "Manlet" is a terrible name. Makes you sound like a fishstick or something. Definitely some kind of fried appetizer.

If they just changed their name to The Noble and Ancient Order of Weefellows, that would be a huge tiny step forward. A manlet can't get laid, but a weefellow? That's mysterious! He's taking a different lady back to his mushroom house every night. And if you're too tall? Sorry, chump! You're not allowed to attend our meetings in the Gingerbread Castle.

They should be forcibly dressed up like this and forced to dance and sing wherever they go.

I would just like to point out that pretty much all of the great conquerors of history have been, by their estimation, manlets. Ramses II? 5'7". Alexander the Great? Short-arse, even by ancient standards. Genghis Khan? Average height in Mongolia today is about 5'5", and it probably wasn't any more back in the old days of traveling tribes and poor nutrition. Ramses had over a hundred sons, too, and Genghis Khan has literal millions of descendants. Statistically speaking, at least some of those kids had to come from women who were not repulsed by short guys.

Even if those guys lived today, I suspect they'd kick the same amount of ass and get the same amount of ladies, too. Because as I said before, confidence is sexy. Capability is sexy. Thinking that women won't look at you because you're average height is annoying.

You tallsplainers are triggering me!

Y'all need to check your unusual-height privilege; as a person of normal height I can't join in all the bitch sessions. When will it be mine turn to feel special and oppressed?

Rude. At 4'10" police told me I would've died in my first wreck if I had airbags because I was so far up to reach the steering wheel.
I have to order online too or else shop in the literal kids sections while feeling like a creep.
I can't even reach the cord to turn fans on and my family legit had to buy longer chains for me and my mum to rven reach to turn on fan/light.
Any uniform my work requires usually needs to be taken in and most pants have to be re-hemmed.

Oh look! Both short AND tall folk have it rough! But don't tell the folks who believe "manlets" are a thing. They will surely get angry and punch at your shins or above my head.

I have seen posts on tumblr mocking short guys, but they always get called out for being mean-spirited (and hypocritical since tumblr is huge on FA). Thus I can safely say that heightism isn't really a thing.

I don't want to play the devils advocate here but there was a boy who killed himself because he was bullied for his height. He was only 13 or so and short for his age. He had plenty of time to grow. But sadly for him there was no other way out of this suffering. There is a prediuce against short males in society but I don't think this whole heightism thing is the answer.

I have a limited amount of faith in restrictive, explicit shaming/slacktivism campaigns against implicit biases. That doesn't solve the problem- it just encourages the affected parties to claim victimhood and makes everyone else resentful and less willing to actually look at the problem.

Like, the most useful thing to look at here, imo, would be why America has so much less height discrimination professionally than China, for example, and then encourage more of that.

And that's only as far as professional height discrimination goes, which is the only real problem. Short people get the shorter end of the stick (hurr hurr hurr) as far as dating goes, sure, but nobody is owed a fair shot at dating the way they are at work.

Plus if we had more manlet CEOs then the problem would go away on its own, I think.
