My guy is 6'2" so I'm not really helping when it comes to disagreeing with the manlets. But height had nothing to do with how amazing my boo is, so whatevs. Besides, I have a feeling this is yet another group who will always whine about their "problems" despite any proof that they're just full of shit.

It is a harsh bummer of reality that people are attracted to other people based on arbitrary criteria that they didn't even pick themselves. Some dudes have an ethnic fetish. Some chicks only are attracted to guys taller than they are. Tough shit. Life is unfair to everyone in different ways. It isn't the most horrifying injustice in the history of ever if someone's dick is a racist or if some woman only has the hots for tall guys.

These dudes need to get the fuck over it because there is probably some out there who has a fetish for exactly guys shorter than they are. Maybe even by exactly three inches or some absurdly specific thing.

With the United States Census Bureau estimating that the world population exceeded 7 billion people, as of March 12, 2012- it's almost a mathematical certainty that regardless of how exacting & specific your fetish is- that at least someone out there gets off to the same thing you do.

Thus the importance, and inherent squick-factor of the Internet.

I'm 5'8" and I'd hate to be any taller. All of my taller co-workers whine about back pains and the like from all the crouching they have to do as construction sites always have awkward work spaces.
It's also funny how many external things people come up with to rationalize why they don't get dates or laid. If your first instinct after getting rebuffed, is to whine on the internet, then there's something else wrong with you altogether.
Alas, after reading this thread and learning what an obstacle I am in reaching humanitys genetic potential, I have come to the conclusion that ending my pathetic life is the best thing for everyone. I shall now proceed to hang myself.. Just as soon as I find something sturdy to stand on so I can actually reach the ceiling and tie the rope.
 
I'm about 4 inches shorter than my partner. That means that, when we cuddle, my head always ends up right on her boobs. AUGH YEAH
 
The men of my dad's family run short and stocky. My father is 5'8", his brother and my brother are both 5'4"/5'5", my uncle's son is just slightly taller. His sister's kids (both dudes) aren't stocky but they're not very tall, either.

But even though they should go kill themselves, my five-eight father has been married to my (6'0"!) mother for 29 years, and if you ask her she thought he was super handsome and funny. My uncle was married to his wife for I think over 40 when she died last fall, and I have to assume they were together for a lot of the same reasons. My brother's about to get married this year and they've been together for I think two years now despite him being stationed overseas.

It's almost like your height doesn't matter, but you need a good personality and be willing to put effort into your relationship or something...

You know, I can understand being frustrated about having a bad romantic track record, but I've never understood why people get so damn entitled about deserving affection/sex from people who aren't goddamn attracted to them in the first place. Why would you even want a partner who doesn't want to be with you? Is it some kind of achievement to convince someone who isn't into you to enter into a relationship that will satisfy neither of you, instead of just finding someone who wants what you're offering? Are they just indignant at the concept that anyone might not find them irresistible, ala Chris-chan ranting about GOT-DANG ASEXUAL WOMEN?
 
It kinda sucks to be short.

You should probably get over it, because it isn't that bad.

But still, yeah, it does suck a lot.
 
Funny thing is that I'm 5'9 and the idea that I am somehow inferior due to my height never crossed my mind until a few years ago when first introduced to the term manlet. I still didn't care, but nonetheless...

Wikipedia suggests that average adult male height in the United States is just over 5'9" and that 5'9" is, at worst, about an inch shorter than average anywhere aside from a few northern European countries where everyone's gigantic. (And Montenegro/Serbia/Croatia, for some reason?) Guys who are 5'9" or 5'10" and convinced they are freakishly short are running on pure Invented Problem Logic.
