As an aside, I am so sick of the concept of "self-care." Self-care to these weak sacks of crap never means going to the gym, engaging in a fun hobby, cooking a nice dinner, making sure their bed has nice, clean sheets, or reading a great book. Self-care almost universally means wallowing in a tub they can barely fit into that is stained permanently from all the Lush bath bombs they use, putting on a Pokemon onesie, ordering a giant pizza and binge watching whatever fucking show is all the rage on Netflix. Ice cream by the pint is often self-care. Cosmetics come up a lot in self care, especially justified for broke people since broke people need to buy lipsticks to feel good more than people who have a solid savings account. Candy, chips, nail polish - all self-care. Healthy meals, clean clothes, showering daily - fuck you shitlord, they don't have enough spoons!

And Heartmob can just back up and stop with this "trolls keep wimmin from writing online" bullshit. Women who aren't drama queens found out long ago how to state controversial opinions online while avoiding the bottom of the barrel posters who just wanna say potty words. Most of these people who are availing themselves of this service are angry because genuine criticism was offered in a less than polite manner. They're not upset at the kys comments. They're buttmad because they can't say whatever they want whenever they want without any sort of pushback or retort or analysis of what they said. Their safe places are circle jerks where they are never challenged. Harassment for them is what the rest of us call debate.

I always sum it up this way:

Derek Smart was Right.

This is actually true, and a good reason why Heartmob is literally fucked no matter what they do. We tend to mock these people but they do have an imperial mindset, and if not dug out early, they quickly turn into an infestation and overrun their containment zones. Even Something Awful got devoured by these loons. The price of lulz, as we knew it, is that we must forevermore smash their hugboxes open and let the light in. The resulting chimp-outs alone make it worth it.

The good news is that they're starting to die off: Despite their fucking huge reach, people are starting to realize that they don't and really never have had numbers on their side. This is one of the reasons that the first thing they do when they try to take over something is consolidate and try to drive off dissenters. Thankfully since 2016, they've started to lose in the worst possible way and their communities have responded with fucking meltdowns. These internet-safety morons are economic cancer for any site they join and because they're completely unprofitable, their shit is predetermined to be failure from the start. From there is' a simple matter of doing what we do best and observing the fucking Autism.

Like most ventures that are economically nonviable but pander to the emotions of local hysterics, it's more likely they manage to get the government involved instead of being pushed out of the market. The old internet is dying, and the new one is going to have all the limited expression and concern for social standing the real world has.

I checked it out, even signed up and reported a chat buddy of mine for the lulz. Asides from that here are, as Chris would say, my 2cts:

How do these people handle real life?

Real life has no moderators.

Answer: They don't.

Longer answer: These folks tend to be the type you have isolated themselves within their own little circlejerk and most of them have enough entitlements to create their own Special Snowflake Strikeforce Muh Fees Fees Mafia. If not that, then they are some of the greatest sociopaths to prey on and manipulate other special snowflakes.

How do they handle real life? They sob about the patriarchy when their bosses tell them to get their asses to work on time or face termination. They whine about microaggressions when HR tells them that they will be suspended if they wear their "DEATH TO CIS" shirt to work again. They consider it a form of gaslighting when someone fails to signal when exiting the highway. They consider nutritional labels on potato chip bags a form of dietary fascism. It's literal rape when a dude leaves the toilet seat up.

They don't handle real life. They either break down and end up on disability by age 35 or they insulate themselves so much that what we consider real life is one continual assault for them.

I swear I saw a couple of these women on an episode of Shark Tank. Either they are deep cover kiwi's (but never Christorians, no, perish the thought!) in sheep's clothing or the anti-mods of this site in the parallel internet universe that shares this same planet with our fellow members of the human race. I'm leaning toward the latter at the moment.

What do you think the crossover percentage is between individual thread subjects here and there? It's got to be a pretty healthy cut I'd have to guess.

that's assuming they can get a) a job, and/or b) a legal driving license, either of which is a pretty tall order for folk as 'sensitive' as this, since you actually have to make some effort in order to get those things

they're much more likely to spend the rest of their lives cut off from the real world, sponging off their overindulgent parents

Pffft what a bunch of amateurs

I was able to get one of my SJW burner accounts approved to be a helper. Took like 3 messages and a fake email id.

This will be fun!

All they really want is a email address with a "real" name attached to it and something to back that up like a FB page.

I'd assume that way they can shame and get revenge on anoyne who bucks the system.

Seriously...15 mins of work and you too can be part of the problem...er solution!

We are not dealing with very inter-net savvy or intelligent folks here, its basically open season.

This website owns bones.

I Am Being Stalked And Harassed By Kiwi Farms And SA. And every time I try to talk about it in a safe space they drag it out further. I need to be able to have a place to post about things, that are bothering me. I do talk about myself a lot. The internet is where I feel most comfortable communicating but instead I am a victim of these bullies. In addition to autism, I am a survivor of abuse, abuse from an intimate partner but also abuse from these degenerates. I have PTSD from the various associated traumas. They have tried to bring this into real life. They have tried to spread lies about me to my friends. It started because a bunch of perma banned members of something awful didn't like my politics, they doxxed me and used it to try to paint a narrative based on out of context quotes and conjecture that I am a child abuser. I was a special ed teacher and they also threatened to spread this libel to the real world. It increased 10 fold when I came out of the closet and started transitioning to female. kiwifarms.net discovered me when I offered comfort to another autistic trans woman and they have piled on the abuse. Their intent is to spread these lies, to "warn" people about me. It's hurt my reputation and it has massively hurt my sanity. They have people who have befriended me only to leak things from my friends only status updates to the reprobates. I talk about things frankly with my friends that I don't want shared with the whole world. Target audience, boundaries, and context are utterly lost on these people whose sole agenda is to drive people with disabilities as well as transgender people to suicide. They handwave their abuse in that they have trans people on their staff but these people are the scummiest people on the internet and exist to legitimize the indefensible behavior the kiwis engage in. I want to have a brave face and say it doesn't bother me but it truly makes me sick. I absolutely internalize what they say. And even as what they do in say is supremely destructive to me, and they are right that the attention they give me is hard to resist. Its very hard to look away. Part of it is that if I look away, I am not as able to anticipate and protect myself from them but also in moments where I am most vulnerable, when I am feeling most bad about myself I do look because it affirms some of what I am anxious about. I went for a bit more than a month without looking but then they noticed and came to me. They know what triggers me, found my reddit and started posting it everywhere. They posted my dead name all over to, just to make me feel powerless and hurt. They have done this to many others. the SA permabanned folks use an animated photoshop gif of the exploding head of a transgender woman who took her own life via a shotgun. It is heart breaking to see this used as a running gag but it goes to show the degeneracy and evil that I am dealing with. And they want to condemn me while they sadistically thrive on pain and suffering that they inflict on others. Oh and the best part, my abusive ex-girlfriend is among them, giving them more dirt, and stirring the pot even after I have completely cut off her ability to contact me. Boundaries anyone? Sadly they are protected by the law's total inability to deal with cyberstalking and harassment. I see now the destructive power of hate speech. They have all the power and I have none. It's not "free" speech.

Dear christ, this is starting to feel like "Youtube Heroes" all over again.

WHAT: After 18 months of planning, collaborating, and creating working prototypes, Hollaback! is launching HeartMob, a platform that provides real-time support to individuals experiencing online harassment - and gives bystanders concrete actions they can take to step in and save the day.

HOW: HeartMob allows users to easily report their harassment and maintain complete control over their story. Once reported, users will have the option of keeping their report private and cataloguing it in case it escalates, or they can make the report public. If they choose to make it public, they will be able to choose from a menu of options on how they want bystanders to support them, take action, or intervene. They will also be given extensive resources including: safety planning, materials on how to differentiate an empty threat from a real threat, online harassment laws and details on how to report their harassment to authorities (if requested), and referrals to other organizations that can provide counseling and legal services.

Bystanders looking to provide support will receive public requests, along with chosen actions of support. You can “have someone’s back” and know that you’re helping them out in a time of need while directly contributing to safer spaces online. HeartMob staff will review all messages and reports to ensure the platform remains safe and supportive.

So, you mean to tell me that this software forum will instantly grant me the powers of a personal army, on command, that I can use however I wish?

Where do I sign up?

I tweeted at Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell today, urging them to speak out against Trump's appointment of Steve Bannon, a known anti-Semite & white nationalist, as Chief Strategist. One of my tweets went viral, and now my mentions are full of threats and abuse. I can't even open Twitter, it's too upsetting.

Translation : I called a person I don't like a White Nationalist and Anti-Semite and now I'm getting blown up on twitter. I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT TWITTER.

To play devil's advocate for a moment, I could see where something like this would be of some use to someone who's life is in honest to God danger from online stalkers that have the capabilities to do harm to someone in the real world. Like, an ex trying to get revenge, or whatever. Or a possible way to help protect minors until they're mature enough to understand how the internet works.

But the way it's being executed here.... is really ridiculous. I mean, getting upset because people disagree with you about an article you wrote? Could it be, that why they're getting aggressive in your face because of the tone you presented your article or side of an argument in? If you throw a verbal molotov cocktail at someone by using loaded labels, don't get pissy when the same gets thrown back in your face, tenfold. It's a two-way street, but sometimes, it becomes a one-way street and thus you need to be the better person.

There's always going to be assholes on the internet. But that's both the beautiful and ugly thing about the internet: it gives a platform and a voice to everyone. It's just like writing a letter to your community op-ed section in your local newspaper back in the day: if you put yourself and your opinions out there, for the whole world to see, then you better be prepared to handle counterarguments and the occasional heckler, and not go running screaming and crytyping about how someone hurt your feelings. If these people can't handle that, and it's clear they really can't, then they shouldn't be on the internet in the first place and/or make an effort to bring back LiveJournal-esque closed community echo chambers instead of expecting vast, open forums with wildly differing opinions and ideals to yield to them.
