So pretty much all that up will do is congregate all the people whose feelings have been hurt into one place, now if it was a legit site from people who wanted to help it would be good, but there is one big problem with it. As we know and other people have stated the site will be filled with people trying to out pity each other for popularity and the usual. "I was in my website and this trolls began to harass me cause of my work, come and like my work to help me" It's not going to work and in fact it will just bring more unneeded attentions but again we will get more lolcows.

They should really call it "The meeting for people who couldn't get the cap off". When you take everything you read online seriously, you must have some kind of brain damage.

@KatsuKitty I wish I could believe that it's going to be driven out of business, but Heartmob is just the next step of Hollaback! Which is apparently in its fifth year of operation.

The thing is though is no one has ever heard of "Hollaback!" I certainly haven't until this thread. It literally has no influence and is a anonymous blogging site to rant about "muh hipster concept of feminism that's actually just being an asshole and not a feminist". The thing about heartmob though is apparently it advocates attacking perceived bullies and not just sitting in a corner and ranting about feelings.

@Gaol So... Tumblr in a nutshell.

Edit: To prevent double-posting

@EleSigma That's because, to my understanding, it only exists so that over-priviledged white girls can whine and complain that someone LOOKED at them, or offered a compliment and they were triggered because of it. I have a feeling that Hugbox will have about as much of a lasting impression as Hollaback! does. It'll just be something else that nobody really cares about, but it will linger like the stench of a dead corpse.

Wow, @Yellow Yam Scam. :nicedude:

I've been looking into the group organizing this, dubbed "Hollaback!" which is essentially a non-profit organization trying to eliminate "street harassment", especially against women. HeartMob is their latest initiative in desiring some sort of crackdown (whatever that may entail) on online harassment.

Here is their main website. Also, I think its hilarious how they seem to conflate harassment as a term that exclusively relates to women.

This statistic goes unexplained with no citations at all.

Screen-Shot-2015-04-17-at-11.22.52-AM.png

According to this one, "85% of US women surveyed report experiencing street harassment before the age of 17, and 67% of women report experiencing it before age 14" despite having a sample size of only 4872 women in a country with more than 158.6 million women since 2009. There is additionally very little data shown to support this this beyond simply regurgitating the same statistics and then some.
They literally have a YT channel dedicated to this. According to them, this is what they define as street harassment as-
In this one, they literally read off a list of FB posts that they dub "Online Harassment" without giving any sort of context to the statements presented. What if somebody said something dumb or promoted hate speech and met angry backlash? We will never know because they didn't bother to present both sides of the equation.

They go on to talk about "harassment" but only ever talk about examples related to women instead of, oh I don't know, people in general. I think the YT comment here sums it up pretty well.

I will give these people credit for one thing: Harassment is a problem in some capacity. However, it is not something that can be truly eliminated either. Realizing that harassment is a human issue and not a strictly gender one would go a long way here instead of distorting the truth like these types tend to do. For one thing, it would be impossible to regulate harassment on the internet and day-to-day interactions. You can't control how and when people harass you, but you can control how you react to it.

The impression I get from these people is that they want Heartmob to control online harassment by giving those that are harassed the tools for them to give anonymous "bystanders" a way to "take action or intervene". Such a vague statement implies any number of things, including harassment. Obviously such a perfect system could never be abused, surely.

I'm surprised this hasn't been posted yet...

This is the Kickstarter Video for HeartMob:

Some of those faces in the beginning look familiar...

Edit:

Anita Sarkeesian
Zoe Quinn
Monica Lewinsky
Brianna Wu
Ashley Judd

What do all these people have in common?

Layer upon layer of WONDERFUL content! Like this Series of Comebacks...
Right from their http://bahamas.ihollaback.org/ page *sigh*

So telling someone at work that she looks tired is a "terrible thing to say"? Yep, I sure do trust these guys to define harassment in a reasonable manner and take appropriate, logical action.

Also, in the first two instances where the "aggressor" is female/undefined gender, the only "comeback" is some cringeworthy, facepalm-inducing line. At the third example which is gender specific and where a male "aggressor" says something (somewhat) sexist, the "comeback" is murderer.

I don't think SJWs (or anyone else) would sympathize with DSP. Nevertheless, someone needs to test out how easily this system can be abused, and I think Phil is the perfect unwitting test subject. He's an actual bully, and a dumb white guy to boot, and he produces content regularly enough that we'll know it's not a coincidence if a bunch of Tumblr kids start showing up on his streams.

All in favor of making DSP the designated Heartmob guinea pig?
How about an obnoxious, racist, white, male who constantly lies about his gender and ethnicity in order to get away with harassing others, has punched his mom, and has sexually assaulted several women?
I'm, of course, talking about ADF.

So this hollaback app, I downloaded it and there is a map showing the location of the stories (smart move, giving the general location. That would be a stalker's dream). Unsurprisingly most stories are from whiny college kids and your overly sensitive urban hipsters that somehow think cities are supposed to be utopias. Almost all the stories I've read are instances of some guy yelling "oh hey you look good!" or something like that which offends the woman so horribly. Then the rants usually taper off into "WHAT IF THEY HAD A GUN AND TRIED TO SHOOT AT ME OR RAPE ME!?" and get way overblown quickly.

Since this app is worldwide there are stories from overseas, where there are instances (that are probably ignored) of real harassment, sexism and racism and police turning a blind eye to the foreigners being harrassed. But that's not important as the hordes in the U.S. crying racism because a guy walked past them on the subway too slowly and "could" have been looking at them.

Edit: Also just like everything SJW related they have a big "donate" button on the homepage of the app which doesn't let you input how much you want to donate but instead only gives you the option of donating $100

Edit2: I goofed on the donation thing, there's a tab under the donation that allows you to select a custom amount, but non-the less the "$100" donate button suggests they want you to donate a large amount of money to their coffers.

They actually managed to get some fame with this video of a woman walking through NYC and the reactions she received from men during autumn last year. There was quite a bit of controversy because a) they decided to declare every minor reaction as harassment, including simple compliments, greetings or asking the woman out for a coffee (and putting that in the video next to actual obnoxious and unacceptable behaviour) and b) because the vast majority of perpetrators were non-white.
A good piece of criticism of this video, can be found here if anybody is interested.

So, say what you want about the concept, the guys behind it definitely know how to gain attention and how to monetise outrage.

I just hope this winds up being a stupid "call a personal army on people who offend you" and all the lolcows and SJWs try to use it on places that drink lolcow milk and SJW tears as daily sustenance, as it will create a hysterically funny feedback loop of these idiots trying to gang rush those that triggers their allies, they get more triggered, the ones they try to piss off will simply get more laughs, and it will all cascade into a hilarious implosion of this app causing a much bigger issue than it tries to address.

I especially look forward to the ED article documenting the tears and outrage as the implosion commences.

All right that's it I'm starting my own Kickstarter to send kids like this overseas to the places where actual harassment and violence happen on a daily basis. Seeing the before and after would be priceless.

I don't think I can really say what hasn't been said here. This site seems like it's for a bunch of weak-willed crybabies to target people who disagree with them and thus hurt their feelings, apparently warranting a swarm of like-minded SJW crybaby insects harassing their target.

Anyway I wonder if we can get Chris-Chan with this site you guis. He fakes his gender to stalk women and mace GameStop employees. :alog:
