I am still waiting for the twist that Purgatory exists and that's where Adam (and the other dead exorcists) went.

It's coming. I can feel it.

The correspondent twist would be that HH heaven is not the real heaven (but some lower tier one, the Temu version).Sperg: I want a Lute redemption arc on top of that. And s.o needs to beat up that infuriating femboy prick Saint Peter.

That would imply she did something wrong.
Debatable, I have to admit. Being a basic bitch is not enough, given that heaven is full of unempathetic technocrats.

Technically, she hasn't. Morality-wise, she is basically a sadistic, racist SS exorcist death squad leader, so... I want to see her fall. Then her redemption arc while crashing on a couch at the HH.

She is exterminating vile sinners who would rather continue indulging in their depravity rather than redeeming themselves. In this thread, Lute is a heroine, end of story!

Here's a question for y'all. Who do you consider to be the deuteragonist of Hazbin? Angel Dust, Alastor, or Vaggie? The wiki currently states that Vaggie is, but I remember that before the pilot came out, Angel was considered to be the deuteragonist.

I'm asking because the reason why I'm bringing this up is that my reasoning for believing Angel is, or at least was, also serves why I believe these two lines are different 1774484804214.jpeg 1774484852967.jpeg
Hazbin being about redemption isn't "Can people redeem?", it's "Are these people worth the time trying to redeem?". The latter is why Charlie is the main character and makes the most sense for why Angel is the next important.
Pilot Charlie is well meaning, but isn't exactly right for that reason, as her struggles stem from hoping for the betterment of Angel Dust, only for him to be publicly show the opposite, which makes her reevaluate how she sees her competency. As sad as it is to see her cry, she is ultimately the one who is allowing this all to happen by letting in these problematic sinners into her life, thus making her responsible for misfortune that have or may befall on her.
Angel Dust is conflicted about who he wants to be. No matter what he does that would bring him joy, his actions receives disapproval from others. Him partaking in a turf war in particular has him stain the reputation of the hotel, and while he does display remorse, he confides with that act of vulnerability, instead use the possibility of having his own reputation go down as his sign of weakness. Despite only saying a line to each other, their clashing personalities demonstrated the untapped potential their relationship could have been. How much can Charlie put up with Angel Dust, as even if he shows signs of deserving that second chance, he would choose to do things that would make him detrimental to what Charlie’s working for.
Show Charlie is well meaning, therefore she is right for that reason, and majority of her obstacles she face are the result of bad acting/faithful individuals. Yes, she has flaws. Yes she gets called out on them, but the weight of those moments are undermined by the narrative having to validate her so we, the audience, can root for her when it comes to the finale where both seasons has everyone coming together to take down the respective antagonist. The complexity of Charlie’s character in Season 1's ending is crying about having to use violence, and Season 2 straight up lampshaded that it Charlie herself didn't really do anything to warrant her victory, yet both endings wants to treat her like she should be proud of what she's accomplished. Angel Dust now just exists to get abused. Even though their stories intertwined with each other, the way Angel's effects Charlie’s is moreso the basis of her confrontation with an opposing source.
So yeah, that's the difference those two Charlie lines, Charlie herself, and the show itself when compared to the pilot. The show has Charlie to put up with objective antagonists who are the focus of the plot, so whatever lesson she may learn just comes along the way for the resolution of whether or not the antagonist is put in their place. The pilot has Charlie put up with all these trouble prones, but since they're technically on her side, we can't just hope to dismiss their existence as they're fellow protagonists, and even those who aren't, aren't designed to where it makes narrative sense for them to be defeated.
TL;DR: We can't just say "Charlie’s right, because fuck Angel Dust", but we can totally say "Charlie’s right, because fuck Vox".

Sure, we break some balls around here, but I go way back. In light of recent humiliations, it's an honor to be joined by angels. AND NOT FAGGOT-ASS, CORNHOLIN' DEMONS LIKE WHO MURDERED MY BOY ADAM! THEY SHOULD FUCKING DIE!

Then why not HAVE it take place in Purgatory, and why pretend it's actual "Satan's literal domain" Hell?
The simplest answer is that Vivzie was raised Protestant, wasn't raised to believe in Purgatory, and probably doesn't know what Purgatory is beyond the most basic ass pop culture level, which largely doesn't correspond to Catholic (or theologically sympathetic Protestants like C.S. Lewis) ideas about Purgatory.

Vivienne Madrano has REFUTED the false non-canonical, and non-biblical doctrine of purgatory! The papists have been HUMILIATED and VERBALLY CASTRATED.

It's funny because I'm sure Viv mentioned that season 2 was going to be the overlord season. We still don't even how an overlord becomes an overlord. We know that Alastor got a head start because he made a deal when he was still alive, but how about someone like Vox? How did he get to be where he is today in Hell? Since he is the main focus of the season, he would be the perfect person to follow on how the whole overlord system works. But no, just give him a another musical number on how he wants to take over heaven to have more power. I don't think we truly understand his motive the first time he sung about it. Maybe we'll get it the fifth time.
So yeah the Overlords won't do shit for the rest of the series.

Like I said if you already have so much filler content where characters just run around in the town to do whatever they also could have went to one of the Overlords places to actually explore them more in different episodes. But to be fair I don't think even the writers have thought up much about them since they are more decorations than anything.

Men. They fill the protagonist, deuteragonist, and antagonist roles of the series. Lilith might probably be the antagonist in season 3, but I wouldn't be surprise if Alastor steals that role.
To be fair Viv can't write women, but on the other hand she also can't write men (without making tham yaoi bait atleast) so we are just fucked.

EDIT: Isn't Roo the overarching antagonist by the way? Because she seems to be one female character that Viv seems to have actually planned a lot for.
