Yes, I know it's Stolas, but give him some credit here. He comforts his daughter by telling her the truth (he won't be around forever but she'll be okay with his memory when the time comes) instead of fobbing her off with "No no daddy would never leave."

You know, maybe if Stolas wasn't such a blubbering immature idiot most of the time and actually EXPLAINED to his daughter about anything that has been happening, she wouldn't have left him. But no, he always wait till she has to be at her lowest and run away before he pays any attention to her and tries to talk. And even then he doesn't explain shit. So yeah. Can't blame Octavia for not wanting to listen to his "explanation" in Sinsmas.

What was there to explain? He was absolutely prepared to throw his life away for his piece on the side, leaving his daughter fatherless and alone with Stella and Andrealphus, Even if he had been in command of his faculties, no amount of explaining could have made a difference IMO.
 
Yeah, that's why i don't get how Vivzie or anyone defends stolas at all. Literally the only time Stolas shows any true affection to octavia is in a flashback song where he says she'll be okay without him. Remove that song and Stolas is now an objectively bad father. Except that was not only bullshit, as he already doesn't care, he let her down again and choose blitzo after saying he wouldn't leave her for him.

That's not honesty or conforting. His only moment of affection is telling a baby she'll be fine without him. Vivgga pls, she was already fine without him because he wasn't there for her anyway. It's insane that octavia is now crying in her room thinking "Man i really wish Dad was here so he could let me down again..."

Like, Stolas being a good father is an informed atribute. He probably was when she was a baby but now he isn't and there is no valid excuse beyond "muh divorce, muh depression". He cannot talk Via out of hating him because there is no excuse beyond "Pls baby you need to comprehend that i love that man's cock more than my life."

But guess what, i actually defend Stolas a bit. I'd argue season 1 stolas learned better by the end of loo loo land. He was a horny negligent father but it was made clear he still loved her and wouldn't leave his daughter, but it's time to move on. Then vivzie made this the stolas show and he MUST SUFFER GAY ANGST meaning season 2 we recycle looloo land but it's about true love Stolitz except much worse cause via is the one who apologizes and now blitzo is the most important person in stolas life by an undeniable margin.

Stolas is not allowed to have a good scene with via for the same reason stella is not allowed. This show is not about women being happy, it's about gay men being SAD.

I viewed the inclusion of "You Will Be Okay" at the beginning of the episode as representing a stark contrast to the current status of Stolas and Octavia's relationship the same as when movies start off with flashback scenes, The Departed being one such example. It's not until he becomes a blubbering, self pitying mess at the beginning of Sinsmas do we see him approach taking responsibility, which at this point seems too little too late.
 
The sad thing is, there actually is official artwork of Stolas spending time with Octavia. It's just that none of it made it into the show and is probably non-canon, knowing Viv. Just in case anyone hasn't seen it, here's some stuff that was posted to IG

Because Blitz crashed Stella's tea party and yelled, "SORRY I FUCKED YOUR HUSBAND" in front of everyone. Stolas did himself no favors with the way he behaved from then on, but the cat was out of the bag pretty much immediately.

One thing that I will say that gives me some hope in this miserable world is rhat I'm now seeing more and more people disliking Helluva Boss. And it all has to do with the whiney gay owl. People who even like the direction of Season 2 at the beginning out are now giving up on watching this show. They can't defend this fucking character anymore. They are just exhausted of him at this point. And with what will probably be a remake of the pilot coming soon that will definitely retcon more shit and give more excuses to StolASS, I wouldn't be surprise with there being another drop in viewership.

Most i could find was vivzie saying they're not written by her and "not 100% canon but doesn't mean it's not accurate" (lol bs).

I'd say they all non canon as fuck, since apparently all the hazbin ones aged terribly and even i know that they played valentino abusing Vox as "funny tsundere", to the point vivzie deleted them later cause it was p r o b l e m a t i c.
