I'd say they all non canon as fuck, since apparently all the hazbin ones aged terribly and even i know that they played valentino abusing Vox as "funny tsundere", to the point vivzie deleted them later cause it was p r o b l e m a t i c.

Regarding the first "instance of abuse"... Val asked Vox to get him a drink. Vox:
1. Took several hours to get the drink
2. Got him the wrong drink
3, The drink he offered Val was already half empty and Vox was already slurping down the other

If he only did one of those things, that would be understandable, but he did all three, so he was kinda asking for it. Also his bio had him insultingly call Val a rat, whereas Val's bio just telling people not to call him that.

Not trying to excuse Val because he is an abuser, who threatens Angel in his prequel comic, and straight up SA'd him in Addict, but what made Hazbin pre series more nuanced, was that Angel Dust wasn't a spineless bitch who gave Val trouble because of his own mischief. He did business with loan sharks when he was supposed to be filming, which Val chastised him for. Angel Dust wasn't in any way accountable for what led Val to assault him in "Masquerade", making the situation one sided. Wonder how the original version was suppose to play out since it was split into two stories: The Husk portion was an animated episode, and the part where Charlie confronts Val was told through a comic. Going off the image used, Val seemed like he was trying to assure Charlie about Angel. Due to us not knowing if Angel was under a contract in the pilot's continuity, Val would've had less direct power over him if he wasn't, requiring Val to use other tactics to keep Angel under his thumb.

Kind of reminds me of this one fancomic I saw with the Vees.

And I could imagine Velvette being a foil to Vaggie; kind of like how the other Vees have someone they have personal beef with at the hotel. Both were young adults who died in the 2010s. Hell, you could have it that they both knew each other when they were alive and that Velvette was a major contributing factor to Vaggie committing suicide. Even have it that she plays up this kooky and dumb persona so that most people won't take her seriously and infantilize her, but is really just as cruel and vicious as the other Vees.

But no. Let's just make her rather boring instead and give all those quirks to Niffty without any depth who is, in case you forgotten, a Japanese-American woman who died in the 50s. Makes complete sense to me.
That's a SU Ref.

I mean if I were Vaggie I'd commit suicide too.

Does that mean Nifty was in a Japanese-American internment camp when she was alive?

Especially Harley Quinn given the clown vibes.View attachment 7812007View attachment 7812015
This was probably changed so she could fit the "boss bitch fashion archetype" better and also so her personality wouldn't be similar to Niffty's.
Harley Quinn's a more likely comparison as Viv's headcanon voice for Vox was Mark Hamill. For as much as a theater nut Viv makes herself out to be, does she know that Hamill has experience in Broadway? Granite, his last performance was in 2003, but in the early 80's, he played Mozart on the stage version of Amadeus.

Stella would drive a fucking smart car wouldn't she?

The thing is that during the pilot days, especially around Angel Dust, most of the audience assumed he would be a charismatic manipulator. We all know that he's a terrible person, but we could understand why people would become employed by him and stay around. But because Val acts like a piss baby 24/7, even in public, I can't take him seriously and I don't find him to be a believable. It seems like both HH and HB are afraid to give their villains any positive traits. It's like they're afraid that if they even give them one, they'll be considered good people or something.

You thought this through more than Viv did. She only made Niffty part Japanese in the first place because her pilot VA was bilingual.

Nope, it would rob us of scenes that try and make them out to be sympathetic. Complex characters are too difficult to write or understand for Vivzie. No wonder the show appeals to teens and emotionally stunted adults.

Why is Moxxie the only one with goat legs? The more I see it, the more it gets on my nerves.

Because it would make things less black and white, which I guess is too complicated for the Hellaverse to handle. They want the characters we root for to be objectively good, who at worst, do inoffensive actions, and anyone that opposes them lack any real redeemable qualities on their end, maybe be sympathetic at most, but are ultimately the main reasons why the protagonists can't succeed. It was all about nature vs. nurture. Everyone had positive traits and negative traits, with the question being how much they're willing to let their positive traits define them. But now, it's "Good Guys" vs. "Bad Guys", and even if an antagonist isn't outright "evil", they need to be put in their place for not agreeing with the "heroes".

The sad thing is, there actually is official artwork of Stolas spending time with Octavia. It's just that none of it made it into the show and is probably non-canon, knowing Viv. Just in case anyone hasn't seen it, here's some stuff that was posted to IG

It would have been nice to see some of this in the actual show.

Bonus because I thought the replies were funny:

I miss how Stolas in Pilot/Season 1. He looked slightly more ominous, like the way his face and eyes were shaped, which added to the kind of personality he had in Season 1. Season 2 just made him look gay (which he is), and he's going to look even gayer in Season 3 since he now has permanent pupils.

Also being reminded of the old Instagram artwork is a blast to the past. Makes me think back to both of these shows in 2019-2020, and all the hype from that time. It was an era of this community that we will never get back.

Apparently Brandon Rogers was at an anime convention today and claimed there is an episode in Season 3 of Helluva where apparently all the actors including him cried during recording (he said this in a way that's pretty out of character for his comedy style) and also admits he does all the jokes while Viv is the one behind the sad stuff

I have been convinced that anything actually funny that has happened in this show has been Brandon Rogers' doing.

Eh, too subtle. She'd probably have whatever Hell's answer to a Cybertruck is, since dunking on those is popular.

Maybe something like this?

That reminds me that people love to compare Stella to this character or Mother Gothel from Tangled. The main problem is though, while they were antagonists or villains with no sympathy, they were still given a proper motive that made sense. Stella's motive is non-existent because there's no way to pinpoint what it is and it's constantly changing.

Well it has been confirmed that Brandon will improv his lines a lot in Helluva Boss. It's hard to figure out who of the writers is responsible for what because Viv likes to go on Bluesky and say that the things that people like about an episode was done by her.

I have a theory that Viv has a ghost writer on staff for all the Sallie May scenes. She can barely write gays without giving into stereotypes, I sincerely doubt she's the one making the tranny such a "beloved" member of the cast.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Describing Sallie May as beloved despite only having less than 5 minutes of screen time is fucking hilarious.

We all pretty much figured out that Sally May was a self insert when their VA wrote a short about them...and can't act. Also being a lesbian as well was just the cherry on top.

Speaking of Sallie Mae, I found...this on the Helluva Boss subreddit. Tonight on the artist's thinly disguised fetish...
