Very bad turn around, the arms are melting. Hands look awful, the dress on him looks really strange and doesn't make me think if a dress, but one legged tights. The outfits look really ugly. Also why is Angel getting so many outfits already? (Pilot/show/show reusing pilot in the porn scene/3 different porn outfits in the poison song/fighting outfit/ and now these) Overkill much?

Because it feels like Angel was supposed to be main character.

back in the original animation when they had the newgrounds guys working on the show. before amazon, before replacing everyone with sweatshop animation and broadway people, before they blatantly rewrote everything... he was clearly supposed to be like the funny "first attempt at redeeming guy that'd probably just continue being a dipshit getting into stuff instead". Every male character has to become woobified and even gayer than already just sucking dick for crack.

Randomy thing to mention but this really hits me how "static" is angel's design. I can't tell if his hair tuff is sideways or fowards and his sideway shot can easily be mistaken as him only having one eye like cherri.

You spin his body 180 degrees and the silhouete stays exactly the same until it's mirrored.

Kind of reminds me of what they do for Mickey Mouse, as his two circle ears having to be showing no matter where he's facing. But here, it's not just the tuft of hair always being to the right except when looking at the left. There's just no consistency with any of the perspectives.

And I get it. Turnarounds aren't the funnest thing to do, and it can be very frustrating to keep everything consistent with each perspective. But you want to be close enough that if you were to put each pose together as a spin, you want it to look like one person spinning, instead of multiple people looking similar to each other. Even then, Mickey has a nose, a tail, big shoes and buttons so you can easily tell where he is facing. The gloves even got the black stitches on the back of the hand so you can always tell what hand and side it is. That's why he works in full black and white.

Angel is too vague and ambiguous it's almost lazy. Note how in his turnaround his body is never truly sideways, it's only ever front facing or back facing, Even when he's staring directly to the right his bowtie is turned back. His legs and heels are ambiguous and his hands not detailed enough.

Instead they have to fucking cheat the model and his less are simply off model when he's turned back for no reason. I mean, this isn't rocket science, you just draw the character from every angle. I was picking examples from other cartoons like samurai jack but actually, i found much better ones from hazbin itself.


I think this one is really good and conveys how assimetric Vaggie's fringe is on practice. There is a similar one for niffty and vox but i can't find any like this for angel, the one i found looks like this.

Again, his body is never truly sideways, only front facing or back facing (bow tie) and his hair doesn't flip when he turns back. I don't think Angel would look deformed or weird in full side profile (think Vox's head). I'm no artist but it feels more a crutch than an artistic decision.

That would be a character trait beyond 'swears a lot' and 'has sex' so it's far beyond Vivzie's skill I'm afraid. Maybe if you're lucky a new character will show up for ten seconds who says "Fuck I fucking fuck love fucking buying shitcunt fucking fuck clothes. And getting fucked." In the new season.

You know, Stella and Verosika are a lot more similar than I thought. In season 1, both were shown to be nasty and vengeful when their "ex" was in the same vicinity as them; almost like they only acted this way because the individual that screwed then over was nearby and it reminded them of those painful memories. But then, season 2 recontexualized them to be petty bitches that think about how much they hate their ex's all the time...and that's just it for their character.

Because women aren't allowed to have depth for Vivziepop. Or rather, anyone outside Stolas and Blitzo isn't allowed to have depth and Stolas and Blitzo are ALWAYS RIGHT, ALWAYS THE VICTIM.

I've heard Angel is actually one of Viv's most precious characters and she created him when she was going through a toxic relationship or something. Then the wiki changed that into when Viv was going through a rough spot in life. I've seen a video essay stating that the main character should have been Angel Dust NOT CHARLIE. Why? Because Angel is most likely more thought out and we can connect better to him if he's the one with all the writing effort. Though, I believe someome else should be writing for Viv, considering what's going on.

Alastor is an example minus the sex. But then, of course, it got ruined by him cussing when Adam mopped the floor with him. So, I've heard Alastor's face is stitched into a smile or frozen into it? So, maybe just have the smile simply falter a bit. It's as if Viv's only expression of emotions in her shows is swearing "I'm so fucking happy!" "Fuck you ya asshole!" "I'm just so fucked up and down in the dumps today. What a shitty day."

Probably because Angel Dust's design is more complex than Vaggie, Nifty, or Vox. Even when they gave him a more "simpler" design for the show, they aren't that different from the pilot, and for some reason they added more complexities for the show; like giving him two different pair of gloves for his four arms instead of just one set.


It also helps that the characters that were mentioned before had a symmetrical shaped face (like an oval/circle or rectangle). They were made to be drawn in all different angles. Angel Dust was never meant to be seen facing straight forward. It's why we always get him standing in a 3/4 angle. That's why whenever we do see him facing forward, at best you get a different shaped face, or worst you get something that is anatomically correct but looks completely off.

This manchild spent the entire season 2 alternating between wanting blitzo's cock and literally crying about everyone being mean to him. He's one dimensional, his personality is a short slider that starts at blitzo and ends at crying.

Altho in his case it's clearly more out of vivzie being a bad writer and ship panderer that resulted in Stolas being shallow, unlike the female characters where Vivzie actively hates women.
