So I made only slight modifications to the design. Some personal problems with the design. I'm ignoring all of her other Sins as I'm just focusing on Satan.

Originally the pants are merged with his shoes that's really weird.
The tattoos or whatever made no sense
His horns not being the same
His tail is just an imp tail.
Skipping leg day.

So to keep it "Vivzie" which is busy but with actual purposes.

1. His shoes are now boot chaps to keep the western biker cowboy look. His claws are out making him look more threatening.
2. Fixed the horns to add some different color to his scheme and add onto his full demon form.
3. His full demon form would be his entire head on fire creating this intimidating skull. (Also being a refrence to Ghost Rider and him being Lucifers lacky) Ghost Rider also has Western vibes too.
4. He can only see on his right side of his face, as he is covered in scars to represent him being Wrath/ fighting.
5. He has fire in his design and could change based on his mood/ blue being actually angry (Asmodeouses makes no sense for fire when Satans thing is fire)
6. Gave him a Ankylosaurs Tail for it being big and heavy, and makes him look like an ancient Dragon Dinosaur as his multiple horns for me give me those vibes
7. 4 arms to make him look more like a strong man, plus then he has 6 limbs making him look other worldly.
8. His signs are on his jacket now and look like little sheriff badges.

There's more but I don't care to talk about them anymore. Personally I think it would be easier to animate and look at then what we got as I tried to make it more simplistic.

Which to me brings up an interesting thought exercise: would the demon sinners of Hell be seen quite as sympathetic if they looked like, you know, actual demon sinners?

Lust is not getting pleasure out of sex - lust is seeking pleasure out of sex or sexual acts while giving zero care to the other person you're engaging with.

Gluttony is not the consumption of something just because you like it - it's the consumption of food or really anything in excess to the point of it being a detriment.

Pride is not having pride in yourself or others - pride is seeing yourself and your judgement as being above and beyond the reproach of others including God (this is arguably what all other sins derive from).

Greed is not just wanting something for yourself - it's about wanting to hoard or gain something at a detrimental cost.

So no, sin isn't necessarily LITERALLY part of being human - but they can be part of being a particularly bad human.

From a Christian perspective to be human is to be like God (good, kind, etc.) ideally, because, after all, he made humans in his image and gave Jesus to redeem us all if we just humbly and kindly ask for it. "To sin is to be human." No. To strive to do things right while acknowledging you will still make mistakes while learning from them is to be human. Jesus is an example on how to be a good human according to the Bible (because we're talking about Judeo-Christian concepts here), however, we are just not like him, so the best we can do is learn from him and apply his teachings to our very best. Think of it as watching a makeup influencer. The viewers will try and copy her style and buy the products she uses, but in the end, they'll never truly look like her, but they're copying her style.

But even then the sins should be the seven heavenly virtues if they're going to preach this stuff but here's the thing I noticed.

Notice how the sins preaching about the goodness of their sin or seem to care about virtue only do it around the main characters.

Like Asmodeus talking about the importance of consent was like to Stolas or someone in the core cast yet he sells sex toys rapists could buy and succubi from his ring are tempting people into sin.

Bee allows the dogs to eat excessive shit they don't need but only cares about overconsumption when it comes to Blitzo.

Satan is calm but he's also under anger management because Viv also merged wrath with the prosecutor Satan can be but he acts a little closer to his original sin, only "fair" when it comes to giving Stolas 100 years to not use his powers.

Mammon is actively the only sin allowed to embody their sin negatively since he doesn't give a shit about the main characters, in terms of sin he is the best one. He only takes excessive wealth and exploits others for his own benefit, not really subtle when he's shaped like a bag of money.

Sheep and Leviathan don't have much for them yet.

Lucifer only within the context of Pride works since he's a cocky guy who likes to keep his status as top dog but he's putting down Alastor and Adam while asserting he's better than them, and only seems to care about Charlie's stuff only because she's his daughter and parents feel pride in their kids. It's more positive but this guy is not humble, nor telling anyone to be humble like Bee and Asmodeus.

These look like they could be game bosses or mini bosses. Also, Sir Pentious also looks less like a loser, Husk is less of a bum, Charlie actually has that sense of lurking danger within her if you mess with her, Nifty and Rosie actually look psychotic, and Angel Dust could reflect the twisted, depraved tastes of people who have been condemned to hell for so long they could actually want to fuck that.


Would they be more sympathetic? Yes. Yes indeed. Never underestimate the people who go "I can fix him/her," especially the fangirls and fujos who love creepy, twig-like, emo aesthetic sexyman boys in suits and bow ties (think Jack Skellington). I've seen a lot of this type on Tumblr, where they get the ugliest, most malnourished, pale, pitiful creature of a man with 999999 mental disorders and is probably some supernatural thing and go "meh poor widdle meow meow."

The early conception was all the demons and demon sinners had their normal appearances but as they became more demonic, their more horrifying appearances would come out. This was pretty cool, and actually suggested a sort of consistency of model for the characters, where they could be more or less demonic depending on their level of rage.

Sort of like how Stolas's form in the original D.H.O.R.K.S. when he was pissed that Blitz was threatened was actually a Lovecraftian horror.

Even Charlie had a fairly frightening pure demon form.

But no, now everything is off-model to the point of making Steven Universe look hard-working.

I actually like the uncanny valley smile on this person's version of Charlie, so that you can't tell if she's being genuinely friendly or if she's just trying to lure you into a false sense of security.

When I said more sympathetic, I meant more towards normie audiences who would pick up that the main cast are the "nice" characters with their current designs, but would instinctively step back when approached by someone with these designs. Even Jack Skellington still has a fairly friendly cartoony appearance that makes him approachable and not seem like a threat.

In an alternate universe where Vivzie is a much more creative and talented writer, there's a version of Hazbin Hotel that's not a wacky comedy but more of dark Dante-esque Isekei fantasy with horror elements focused on some random soul who's found himself in Hell and hears of the Hazbin Hotel as a chance to get out, but of course finds creepy as fuck Charlie here along with the rest of the really horrific versions of the main characters, so they're not sure if the offer of the Hotel is genuine or if this is just a trap for further torturing desperate souls (it's being run by the daughter of Lucifer, for crying out loud!).

Of course, the great story pay off would be that, yes, despite their frightening appearance, the Hotel and its guests are genuine. Charlie really is a goodhearted person that wants to help redeem sinners to get into heaven, Angel still is a sympathetic character who's trapped in a horrible toxic relationship with his pimp and wishes he wasn't and resorts to substance abuse to cope, Husk still is a depressed loser who nonetheless has words of sage wisdom to offer, and Sir Pentious really only acts like a bad guy because he felt like that was the only way he could fit into a group and be safe. In between you could have some of the deeper philosophical explorations about sin, what it does to people, and what drives people to do it even though it's brought them to Hell and is keeping them chained there.

Of course, blame the time crunch again. The strategy to avoid blaming the time crunch is start with someone easier to redeem, like Sir Pentious, and focus on him, then slowly reveal the neat stuff like true demon forms, heaven, and worse sinners in the later episodes and seasons.

Honestly I think Charlie, Nifty, and Rosie just look like those characters done in a different artstyle, but they all are pretty cool looking especially with how Charlie has a certain uncertainty to her while Nifty really captures how unhinged she is. It kind of shows how what would it be like to meet these characters if they were real.

But Pentious, Husk, and Angel Dust definitely are redesigns. Pentious looks pretty cool with how it feels more snake like, and I do like Husk's redesign the best since it sort of keeps true to the original but has a more unique body type which is pretty cool where he could easily be scary as hell but also capable of being civil. Angel Dust kind of looks worse since it feels more like two different designs mixed together since it feels more like the original is being devoured by a different monster rather than looking like one character

Original Angel Dust was perfect and Michael Kovach did him so well it was iconic. People spent years waiting to hear that Angel Dust voice again. But no, Vivz had to be a fucking idiot.

It was absolutely insane to wreck his model and get rid of Michael Kovach. Fuck Vivz for that act of absolute stupidity.

Congratulations, ruin the best character in the show in the very first actual episode. Vivz is a fucking idiot.

Ya know, if Viv wanted to make the sins be like "oh, they're more what they repressent", she could have just gone the Drive Angry path, where Satan isnt interested in sacrifices of children or innocent people, but just treats his life in Hell like a job where he's a warden of this prison and needs to deal with inmates who are stuck here. She could have done something similar with the sins, where they treat the corruption of mortals or running their lands as part of the job. Then showing how off the clock, they're entirely different, hell can even play up the hypocrisy here and maybe the sins admitting it.

Realized that Stella really gets nothing from Stolas when he was stripped away of his rank and powers. They all go to her fucking brother. Which would be one thing if it was only the male goetias who held the titles, but we know that Octavia is going to inherit Stolas' once she turned 18. Stella is worth less to the goetias than her own daughter. And that's really sad when you think about it. Great job again Viv; you unintentionally make your one-dimensional villain sympathetic again because you can't give the bloody bitch anything.

Add that she was a victim that was forced to be married as soon as she was an adult and birth Octavia then Stella is tragic. I have no hope for her Season Three Backstory other than it would find more chances to make her a villain.

I don't even think its that, for me it feels more of the protagonist-centered morality that the show enforces where the deadly sins only give a shit about temperance and stuff if Blitzo and Stolas are damaging themselves, and we can't have them get worse. If anything, the deadly sins like Asmodeus and Bee could've been good villains who are letting those characters keep indulging in their vices to make the conflict more interesting.

But Asmodeus is with another twink and instead of being a contrast to the unstable Stolitz, they have to be uwu supportive.

And Queen Bee is voiced by Kesha and Kesha can't be a bad guy
